【Notice】
Although it is very sudden, Noise Factory Co., Ltd. will be closed at the end of March.
To everyone who supported us, I am very sorry.
NOISE shop changes shape and I want to start again.
I'm happy if you can wait.

Their background:

NOISE FACTORY co.,ltd. (株式会社ノイズファクトリー) is a Japanese company that specialises in developing video games. It is one of the developer companies of SNK (SNK Playmore). Its more known games are Sengoku 3, Rage of the Dragons and the new Power Instinct games (having the rights of Atlus to continue developing the series).

Works:

Gaia Crusaders
Metal Slug 3 (music development)
Sengoku Denshou 2001 / Sengoku 3
Metal Slug 4 (along with Mega Enterprise)
Metal Slug 5 (along with SNK Playmore)
Rage of the Dragons (designed by Evoga)
Power Instinct: Matrimelee
KOF: Maximum Impact (console versions)
Power Instinct: Bonnou no Kaihou
Ontamarama
Power Instinct: Matsuri Senzo Kuyou
Doala de Wii
Dark Arms: Beast Busters

Sad stuff.

Rage of the Dragons, Power Instinct, Sengoku 3 etc. were awesome.

Let's remember the glory that was the fries song/stage from Matrimelee.

I didn't even know they were still around, the last games I played from them were Rage of the Dragons and Power Instinct Matrimelee

I honestly didn't know they were still around. But man, that sucks. I remember seeing artwork and character designs for Rage of the Dragons and Power Instinct. They had this really colourful, funky vibe to them that I loved. Wouldn't have minded trying those games out if I got the chance.

Never fun seeing another Japanese dev from the 90s/2000s going under. :(

Wow.

I had no idea whatsoever that any of the Neo Geo developers were still intact as they were. That's amazing.

What on earth have they been doing for the last 15 years since they made a game I was aware of?

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
That sucks. I was a big fan of Sengoku 3, Rage of The Dragons, and their Power Instinct games along with the Maximum Impact series.

I like Groove on Fight. It was basically Power Instinct's "SF3" so to speak, sort of like what Garou was to SNK. Mostly new cast, different mechanics, and aesthetic that was different than their previous games in the series. I wonder if the remnants of the company will be picked up somewhere.

Sad to read. Loved Sengoku 3, and their time with the Gouketsuji/Power Instinct titles was awesome.

Hope the staff lands on their feet elsewhere.

This is always sad, but I'm more surprised that they were still around. Is there any game of theirs that good a universally positive reception aside from Sengoku 3? And I'm pretty sure that was in cult classic territory.

I'm interested in what they were doing recently? Even that Wii game is from 2009.

Aside from the Metal Slugs the only game I've played from that list is Sengoku 3 which I got from the Wii Virtual Console. It actually came out in 2013 and was one of the very last things released on the Wii Shop Channel.

I do have plans to import the PS2 version of Power Instinct: Matrimelee. Though all the Rage of the Dragon characters are gone.

Damn, I'm surprised that they were still around. I thought that they stopped making games after the Wii era.

Its still a shame though, their track record (Sengoku 3, Metal Slug 3/4/5, Matrimelee, RotD) is spot on.

I'm also surprised they were still around (also weird timing on this thread, I was recently watching a replay of Sengoku 3). It's still sad to see they're going under though

My go to track (from my go to character) was always this one

Also always liked this short but sweet theme as well

They worked on several Metal Slugs and a KOF. OP chooses to put PI and RotD in the title...

I can understand leaving out KoF but yeah Metal Slug should have been mentioned

Also, from what I've looked up, they only worked on the later Power Instinct titles (Matrimelee onwards) with Atlus developing the earlier titles. So I'm not sure why Groove On Fight is getting mentioned here.

Noise Factory was founded by Keiko Iju, formerly of Atlus, who worked as a designer/planner/producer on the earlier Power Instinct games (sometimes under the pseudonym 'Chuuko' or 'Cheiko'). She also voiced a few characters, and sang Annie's theme for Power Instinct 2.

Oh man, I loved power instinct on arcades back when I was a child.
I think I even rented the SNES version a couple of times. I loved the characters with transformations.

Every day, at least two people will post "MMCafe still exists?!?!" lol

Oooooooooooooh that second one has a real groove to it, despite the name and haunting fauxcals.

That sucks.

Still have my US Rage of the Dragons MVS and the shirt that came with it. Played that game an absolute ton in the early 2000's.

Bummer...

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Chalk me up as another person who either:
-didn't know they were still around
-or, thought they were relegated to mobile-only development

and were surprised to hear they were still around. Shame about the loss, the Power Instinct series is pretty cool.
