Pleasantly surprised Hans Zimmer wasn't. Otherwise, not a great group of candidates. Williams would probably get it if the film didn't suck.

Normally that doesn't matter, though. 'S'all about the foreign sounding name. Therefore, Alexandre has a strong chance for "Philomena" however this year there was quite a buzz for Stephen Price's "Gravity" soundscapes, so I expect that to win.

Surprised that Hanks wasn't nommed but glad it was Bale instead of him, he was better. Hanks' final scene was great but Abdi was better for most the film.

Yeah, you're probably right. Not a fan of Price's work myself but I can see the merit in it. Haven't heard "Philomena" but I like Desplat so I'll probably check it out soon.

Worth mentioning that our favourite high art movie Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is now an oscar nominated movie for makeup and hairstyling.

Quite happy to see Jonah Hill get another nomination, I don't think he deserved one for Moneyball but he's a legit actor no doubt about that. Great performance in The Wolf of Wall Street.
