  • The Croods
  • Despicable Me 2
  • Ernest & Celestine
  • Frozen
  • The Wind Rises
*Nods* I expect Frozen to win but The Wind Rises being nominated is good at least being his last film and all that :p

American Hustle is great but as people have said its not exactly memorable. Now take a a bunch of movies like 12 years a slave, Gravity, and Wolf of Wall street and they just stick with you for while.

Pleasantly surprised Hans Zimmer wasn't. Otherwise, not a great group of candidates. Williams would probably get it if the film didn't suck.

Normally that doesn't matter, though. 'S'all about the foreign sounding name. Therefore, Alexandre has a strong chance for "Philomena" however this year there was quite a buzz for Stephen Price's "Gravity" soundscapes, so I expect that to win.

Surprised that Hanks wasn't nommed but glad it was Bale instead of him, he was better. Hanks' final scene was great but Abdi was better for most the film.

Surprised Llewyn Davis didn't make it onto the best film list

I think both Gravity and American hustle got 10 nominations each

But american hustle's are more important, since it seems all its actors got nominated lol

Frozen doesn't deserve it, at all.

GAF always says shit like this, with no way to prove that it actually happens.
It's an opinion about what I think is going to happen. Of course I don't know anything, it's a prediction.

Unless you're trying to say that there haven't been movies that people have loved at release and are quickly forgotten after they're out of the spotlight, in which case you're delusional.

Yeah, you're probably right. Not a fan of Price's work myself but I can see the merit in it. Haven't heard "Philomena" but I like Desplat so I'll probably check it out soon.

Worth mentioning that our favourite high art movie Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is now an oscar nominated movie for makeup and hairstyling.

Quite happy to see Jonah Hill get another nomination, I don't think he deserved one for Moneyball but he's a legit actor no doubt about that. Great performance in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Anyone who has seen the Wolf of Wall Street knows that Jonah Hill was great but probably doesn't deserve to be nominated for Supporting Actor.

Slumdog millionaire
Crash
Hurt Locker

How have people forgotten these films? I sure as hell haven't forgotten about Crash, what with its ridiculous BP win.

It's an opinion about what I think is going to happen. Of course I don't know anything, it's a prediction.

Unless you're trying to say that there haven't been movies that people have loved at release and are quickly forgotten after they're out of the spotlight, in which case you're delusional.

It's more a matter of people projecting their own dislike or ambivalence toward a film on to the general populace.

Too bad for Leo there's no Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy at the Oscars.

And why is that exactly? Is not like there is anything of Paranorman quality this year to compete with it.

Ernest & Celestine is a much better movie in every single sense.
It's a shame nobody watched it.

I haven't seen The Wind Rises, by the way. It hasn't come out in Mexico.

I would give animated to Despicable Me 2, Best Picture Captain Phillips and I think Jonah Hill might win an Oscar.

I enjoyed Captain Phillips a lot more than American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street.

Frozen had the best song, since I See Fire wasn't nominated from The Hobbit.

Whoa! I just noticed Pharrell was nominated for Happy. Interesting. Very infectious song, but definitely on the weaker end of his work. Still...*happy*...for him.

1) Yes they are forgotten, pop culturally.

2) Not really.
Do you see Crash or The English Patinet on cable that often?

What about The Godfather, Titanic, Braveheart, Rocky, Silence of the Lambs, No Country?

Sometimes a forgettable film wins..sometimes a memorable movie does.
