There's a defense force for everything, there's only the amount of time it takes for it to scramble that's the unknown. Time for NC to hopefully vote those shitheels out of office. If you want folks to vote for you, offer a reason or a vision to get people to want to vote for you. Clearly they have none of those things for certain groups, and want to block people from exercising a natural right given to all americans.

I don't know about GAF, but I've seen it defended, in two ways. First, when it's not a two-way conversation, like on a right wing TV or radio show, they just completely ignore all the obviously unfair stuff like removing early voting, polling places, etc, and just focus on voter fraud. There have been a handful of times where a GOP personality has said they were someone else and received a ballot. They use this as proof that voter fraud is rampant, jumping straight to the conclusions that this would go unnoticed, that the same person could vote multiple times, etc, none of which are proven, and none likely true.

The other defense is just a defense of the racism angle. These geniuses say these laws aren't racist because they aren't meant to hurt black people for being black, but only for being Democrats. Because that's so much better. In fact, IIRC, the John Oliver segment has a GOP member saying much the same outright, in an interview with John.

You and me both man, NC usually stayed out of the national spotlight for as long as I can remember, it's like the current seats got up and intentionally decided to have the state be a national mockery in 2016.
