It turns out to be an MMA fighter, you need to work more than a year to be good at it.
That's true but he had funding and he didn't have to worry about another job.

The comic book and the convention apperences were clearly a bucket list type thing for him.

Gall had to train and work a 9 to 5 all while waiting to see if Punk would even fight.

Plus he always had to be worried about the UFC cutting him if he didn't win. Punk just had to show up and make weight to get his paycheck.

I look at it this way: He could either take lumps and bumps from a fake sport he was no longer in love with 300 days a year or make a shit ton of money being humiliated one night in three years by a real fighter and only take one beating. Math don't lie.

He's on the record even this week saying he wants to keep doing MMA, so the math is only correct until the next idiot lets him fight. And if you don't think such idiots exist, let me tell you about Bellator and Rizin

I'm sure they can find a can somewhere. Or they go full freak show.

I wonder if Punk being insistent on being drug free would hurt him if he wanted to go to Japan to fight?

Dude is gonna be 40 with no TRT and no real athletic qualities about him.

Punk was never that athletic to begin with and his body is all fucked up from wrestling a heavy schedule

He can get back in good shape but he's not beating anybody

Good shape for what?

A guy like him needs to find a hobby away from the spotlight, do yoga and rehab to heal from his wrestling days, and have a family with his wife and get off Twitter.

Remember when punk made wrestling real

Nomura vs. Nomura opens the show. Thank God, so I can just watch this, pass out, and catch the tag and Triple Crown matches because this show's going to be five hours long.

Nikkan Lee reff'ing Nomura-con 2016.

These fucking young lion Nomuras are just laying it in to each other. Stiff stuff.

Naoya's selling Takuya's cross arm breaker as death.

Naoya really selling the frustration at getting pinned makes this match seem important. Hype levels: high!

Kaji Tomato, motherfuckers!

This Black Tiger on Super Toget violence while a goof who looks like Shane Storm out of Chikara watches from the corner.

Edit: correction, it's a dude who looks like Shane Storm as Stigma.

oh shit it's time for Tajiri, Chavo Classic, Dory Funk Jr. and Ultimo Dragon vs. The Great Kabuki, Osamu Nishimura, Yutaka Yoshie & Isami Kodoka

NB: Dory Funk Jr. is 75 years old.

Attendance at this show looks depressing. Probably not 2500, definitely not BJW's 3500 at Sumo Hall.

They've been advertising this show since April.

The Japanese fans seem so happy to see Dory.

Ages
Dory Jr 75
Kabuki 68
Chavo Sr 67
Ultimo Dragón 49
Tajiri 46
Nishimura 45
Yoshie 42
Kodaka 35

Tajiri looking like he is taking a break from smoking 5 packs an hour while playing a pachinko machine for tonight's groceries.

Oh my God Dory is starting the match. They picked the 75 years old man to start the match.

Somehow, Chavo Guerrero Jr. would have this match, which features a team with 265 years of wrestling experience, actually worse. That's how bad Chavo Jr. is.

Nonsense

Chavo Jr is solid.... had a great run on Smackdown as part of the SD 6 and was hilarious in WCW

This is the realest deathmatch in the world. I was legit concerned when Nishimura slapped on a sleeper hold on Dory.

Thank God they tagged Chavo Classic back in.

Dory Funk took a back bump! HOLY shit!

That's right Nishimura! How fucking dare you use the spinning toe hold on Dory Funk Jr.! That will get you rolled up!

I got what I was looking for from that match.

Dory saying fuck your steps and your young boys! I'm climbing off the apron on my own!

Jesus, Dory's entrance and exit in this match is going to last longer than the main event.

Just a tremendous experience watching this live with wrestling Twitter. If I were watching on tape, I'd probably fast forward through this.

Dory Funk Jr. is too damned old to sell for your low blow: http://twitter.com/DeadByElbow/status/802776584692244481

Jesus, these fans fucking love Dory Funk Jr.

Hyped for this six man tag with Takeshita and Kengo Mashimo.

Sad to see Takeshita cheating and bending rules here.

Really digging this Nextream group of youngsters.

Kengo Mashimo is so smooth.

These men aren't taking it easy in this six man tag. Stiff as fuck!

Jake Lee got fucked by that Ryoji Sai double stomp. I could go for a feud there.

This show is really moving. Smartly booked too by throwing a really good match amid the undercard indie sleaze.
