I watched an episode of Raw last night that contained Kane vs Undertaker and Stone Cold vs Matt Hardy...in 1996
So it was actually Taker vs Issac Yankem and Ringmaster vs Jobber.
I guess Raw didn't make the jump to 2 hours until it added "is War" and the warzone to the proceedings.

What the shit at these Billionaire Ted skits, it's amazing to see now knowing that WWE has spent the last decade failing to cultivate new stars and relying on old geezers, Vinny Mac became his parody of WCW!

The Billionaire Ted skits were cringe worthy then and are cringe worthy now, but for a different reason. Back then it came off as WWE being extremely petty and angry that WCW bought out a bunch of their stars, which is exactly what WWE did to every regional promotion in the 70s and 80s. Plus it just reaked of Vince wanting Turner-senpai to notice him. These days those Billionare Ted skits are cringe worthy because they're an accurate reflection of present day Vince.

It's always funny when WWE said 'what a dumb move' having Schiavonne give away the results for Foley winning the title on Nitro when they gave WCW free promotion EVERY WEEK

some replies on the thread said it was WORSE before Meltz got on the board.

Yeah it was more NSFW before the mods stepped in. The F4W Board is a shitshow now that I still visit out of habit. It's mostly people trolling each other and most don't give a fuck about non-WWE wrestling outside of the classic stuff. For a forum associated with Meltzer it's amazing how dedicated some of those posters are to not know or care about the current wrestling scene.

You can say the same for about 99% of pro wrestling fourms

Almost every wrestling board I've gone to acts like lucha libre only exists in Lucha Underground. It's depressing. Like they'll talk about how people shouldn't ignore all the great wrestling in Japan or Europe but they'll ignore everything in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

One positive about the deathmatch wrestling community. We'll watch the snuff from anywhere. Any promotion. Any country.

I was actually thinking that even at the time they must've come off like salty chumps, they even had a fake Mean Gene complete with bald cap and making jabs at their own hotline.
No wonder Fake Diesel and Razor were a thing that actually happened, seeing this puts it all into perfect context.
(especially as both Diesel and Razor are still in the WWF at this point marketed as some of their fresh faces and all)

One thing to keep in mind about Miyahara: Akiyama and Mutoh made an effort to patch things up this year. So, maybe we could see someone get loaned from Wrestle-1 for a short run.

They're part of the reason Randy never came back.

I could sum up my thoughts by saying I fully believe WWE's success has all been in spite of Vince McMahon, not because of him.

I was going to post a link to the first 2 Riddle vs Hero matches here, but gd EVOLVE took them down, I hate when they put free matches out then take it back

Can't believe I'm so late to the party on Matt Riddle. First match I've seen of his was yesterday at Progress where he was total boss. Any recommendations?

I wrote about his three highly recommended matches against Hero here: http://wrestlingwiththoughts.tumblr.com/search/MATT+Riddle

Other recommendations:
vs. Jeff Cobb, AAW 9/16/16
vs. Kyle O'Reilly, PWG BOLA 2016 Night 2
vs. Tommy End, Evolve 67
vs. Jimmy Rave, EWE 8/6/16
vs. Roderick Strong, Evolve 64
vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Evolve 59

AJ Styles and #Broken Matt Hardy are my contenders

Matt's actual ring work hasn't been great. Some of the most phenomenal vignettes of all time though.

Rumours made up on a message board brother.

Rumours that all the top wwf brass believe but are too scared to ask. If they scoffed at the very notion that'd be one thing, but the speed at which vince would always shut down ideas of a savage return just made them believe it more.

Because you're going to ask your co-coworkers or boss if your co-coworker/supervisor/boss's daughter was molested when she was a kid? Because that's a thing that's done in any job, much less in the corporate world?
