Do we have any idea how Tales of Graces sold?
Everyone in marketing knows this simple fact: marketing is what you do when your product is no good.
Known sell-through put them pretty much the same worldwide in the 2011 calendar year; but 360 shipments exceeded PS3 shipments by around 0.8M.Wonder if the gap is widening or not. Alot of ppl were mentioning worldwide sales in NPD threads, but since this there doesn't seem to be any interest in bringing it up anymore.
hmmm. . . *strokes beard.*
Q1 numbers (US + Japan)
3DS: 1900k (660k + 1240k)
PS3: 1310k (890k + 420k)
360: 1090k (1070k + 20k)
Wii: 720k (560k + 160k)
Vita: 640k (440k + 200k)
Um, no? And certainly not everyone in marketing knows this because you're using the term too loosely here. 'Marketing' can encapsulate an enormous amount of functions and initiatives - packaging, viral, TV advertisements, social media, even product development in some firms - so making a generalization like this is pretty non-specific.
He's also forgetting the consumer acceptance sequence, which requires marketing/advertising for its first step. (Awareness)Um, no? I bet Yakuza Dead Souls sold just as poorly as Binary Domain. The only one Sega can blame is their self. How is someone suppose to know a title exists if you don't market it in anyway possible.
So will the PC version of BD outsell the console versions?
I can see 20K+ PC sales being a possibility.

Japan should just stop trying to make shooters.
Vanquish is pretty much the ceiling on this. If a Japanese company can make a shooter that amazing and still sell like shit, what hope does a B or C title like Binary Domain have?

Easily especially with the much quicker sales on PC. Although this is one of those special console bombs so maybe it will be slashed quicker.
I want to know the answer to this as well. I don't think I'll like the answer I'll get though.
I'm never going to be able to play Xillia in English huh?
Hey, I doubt it did worse than Binary Domain!
I dunno....I've seen a large contingent of fans online boycott Graces f because its not Vesperia on PS3.
Whats the point of NPD if they don't even release the numbers for all the platforms of interest?.
Regardless of the rumour of 200k - 225k, no mention of Vita convinces me that it really is near DOA.
Really now.Sony never releases numbers for npds. They only release milestone numbers.
And even if the vita sold 5 units it wouldn't be DOA. It's possible for fortunes to turn around. It's happened in, like, every generation.
3DS wasn't almost dead, PS3 didn't "turn around".3DS was almost dead til they did the price drop
ps3 turned around once they cut down the console to slim and dropped the price

What ? They released the psv numbers last month. They always release ps3 numbers .

No they didn't.
Oh boy really now. You have any evidence to suggest that? Best selling system? Where? Byzantine?Really now? PS3 went from almost being dropped by third parties to best selling system for a few years in a row.
So do you think Vita is almost dead too? Sales increase as a $600 console drops price. What a surprise.you're wrong on both counts. but of course, if you're going to be that uninformed. whatever.
Boycotts never work. They are empty threats.

Yeah and then there was that incredible GC turnaround, and the N64, and the Saturn, and the Dreamcast.
Improve doesn't mean a "turn around", and it surely doesn't happen every generation as he said. Doesn't the fact that he says the 3DS almost died ring the bias alarm? What does that have to do with the post you quoted?
Extremely hard to deny that the PS3 and the 3DS situation has improved since they first released.

Here we go again. What were you expecting from these two? 500k a piece?
They are both niche titles, Binary Domain was never ever going to do well. B-tier TPS's have never done well.
Turn around implies its fortunes changed, improve is nowhere near that. I mean the price drop on GC would've improved the situation, but you wouldn't say it was a turn around. Sure the 3DS' performance was underwhelming, but its not a surprise when it lacked a killer app, but to say it was nearly dead is a big exaggeration.Improve and turn around is essentially interchangeable though. Also, "dead" may be stretching it a bit but its hard to deny that the 3DS's release was underwhelming, to the point that Nintendo felt it was necessary to slash the prices to get the ball rolling.
Btw, the person who mentioned the 3DS and PS3 isn't the same person who posted that consoles turn around every generation.

Yeah he didn't say that it happens every gen, but he mentioned that the PS3 experienced a turn around.
How? Its still getting outsold by the 360, the situation improved over time, but that has more to do with support not getting cut and the decline of Wii.But....it did.
How?
They said in a npd press release they had sold 1.2 million worldwide since launch and people did the Math.
