For a short month and without any big releases... outselling the direct competition nearly 2.1..... yes, it is really good.200k for the PS4 doesn't seem all that great either.

A 75k gap (roughly) is large regardless of how much they both sell in the end. Also worth mentioning is that out of 9 years, the 360 in the US sold above 200k in April 3 times. That's the 360 in the US.
It's a shame Microsoft couldn't get the $400 sku out sooner. It's gonna be a rough May for sure.
June should be interesting.

Can someone explain the Infamous situation? Best selling despite not charting at all?
As long as Vita owners keep propping up that attach rate by buying everything that releases on it.Exactly.
Sure, all hope is lost for it to make a recovery in the west. But I've come to terms with it and am fine with the zombie-like state it is in now, getting lots of indie support and japanese localizations.
And yet, the Vita is getting a ton of English localizations of niche Japanese games, quite possibly more than any other system at the moment. Even if the hardware is bombing, somebody's buying games for the system.
Guess the sales forced Microsoft's hand with the Kinectless SKU.

I bought it, played through it 3 times and now I'm done with it. It was incredibly short. I wish there was more I could do (besides take a bunch of beautiful pictures) but it's not a game with legs. Plus, the DLC has a good chance of being standalone so less reason to hold on to it.Infamous SS didn't chart? What the hell are the PS4 users playing? Twitch Plays Pokemon?
Yes: Other gamers are several platforms combined.
inFAMOUS is just one platform.
They combine all the multiplatform SKUs for the top ten, so an exclusive game has a much harder time to chart.
They spun it to next gen only.
Wasn't released on 360
Best selling next-gen game on its own not able to chart NPD Top 10 yet this month.
Also btw, Infamous : SS sold over 1,000,000 and is the best selling of the series. So, it did very well for Sucker Punch.
Best selling next gen game.
The only game charting alone is Minecraft X360, NPD charts puts all versions of same game together.
It's only the best selling when you separate SKUs and ignore all 360/PS3/etc software and just count next-gen.
Apparently its the best selling next gen game this month which means it beat Titanfall on XB1. But since the 99% top ten are games with combined skus (except minecraft cuz its minecraft) it didn't make the chart.
Wii U is lacking
Yeah, they keep supporting it because pretty much everyone who buys one fucking loves it and gets a bunch of games for it. It's a niche product, but they're getting a bunch of money out of that niche.

If it's above 200k (200k-250k) it's still pretty decent. Sub 200k (150k-180k) and it's not exactly great, still a lot better than everything else.
Hell, maybe xD. But Kagari and some others are hinting PS4's between 215-220k, so that would eat into WiiU's chances.Or it's Wii U (lol).

I need the 64GB card to come out here ;_;

I talk to a lot of people at work. And A LOT of people haven't upgraded yet. They are still waiting.
In fact: The majority of the people haven't upgraded.
Sony hasn't won this gen yet.
They need games. Good games. And they need them YESTERDAY!
I don't think it's the price. I think it's a combination of other things, including the 3DS being a better designed portable device (it folds up to protect the screens for a start), the games, and the fact that smartphones and tablets have eaten into the market. Nintendo handhelds also sell extremely well to younger gamers (i.e. kids). I don't think bundling a PS4 and Vita together would do anything noticeable for sales, as I reckon people would just buy a PS4 bundled with a game or two instead. What they need to dump is the price or, better yet, the proprietary memory cards. I'd say a PS4/PSV bundled set for the holidays would do wonders as well.
But why announce it and essentially forfeit a good chunk of sales in May? Why not wait until E3 to announce it? This whole situation has been weird.

Dammit I just bought a Vita. Don't die on me boy!
The only system I have more games on is PC. I've bought more games for my Vita than I ever bought for any other console. They're a joy to play on the system.tbh I think I have more Vita games than I do PS3 games atm :x
The interested consumer in dedicated gaming devices is contracting, more so than I thought would ever occur.
We should all be worried, not so much about the death of the industry, but rather further contraction of the industry or further deviations away from dedicated devices.
This is a bummer. :/
Reading this thread reads like Titanfall was a massive failure, pure insanity
I'd say it's ok numbers. I expected about 290k for PS4 since they fixed the demand issue but it looks like they met demand and things are "normal" now. Still not that good for a new console. 360 was 295k in the same april and time frame.

Easy, it can be platinumed in literally days. Its very short.
Word on the street is it can be rented and fully experienced within a week, two tops. And won't need to be touched again.
Word of mouth spreads. Its too short and slim on content.

Yep. Which is why we're really excited to see how our RPG does there.
