Japan actually releases numbers instead of hiding them like NPD.

There are many PS4 price drops to happen. MS has cut XB1's price multiple times already with little to no affect against PS4.
Like i really don't think a $299 XB1 will be as big as a $299 PS4.

I was pissed since PS4 lost, but the XB1 margin of victory is so low that it doesn't even matter now lol
I now can't see a $100 price cut happening this year, unless MS pulls off an even bigger win in May NPD.

I guess it is so low that it would be considered a joke but no, that is literally what they sold this week.
If you haven't been following, yeah, the XB1 is deader than dead in Japan. There was a week or two where it dropped to the double digits.

I don't think anyone is downplaying the fact that XB1 pulled off a surprising win but 13k units is certainly nothing to be celebrating about. It's a W for XB1 for sure and but despite it being a baffling turn of events it's also an underwhelming victory going by units sold.

Seeing the rough numbers, it's not terrible but I can see a $50 price drop coming soon. I do think this is something Sony can sacrifice since they said they have built the system to be flexible in these cases. I do think it's something they should at least consider. But I strongly don't think it should be because they feel "threatened" but due to the time period the console has been out for and for the better of their business.

Congrats to Microsoft and Phil Spencer for helping turning around this system in America so far. Still needs to do better worldwide, but a price cut to $299 would help this system quite a bit in America and UK. However, if PS4 goes to $299 this year(Very likely in my opinion)than it's going to be quite tough unless Microsoft does another INSANE bundle.

Can anyone confirm the 187k as accurate or does it have some range? I get 186k from 114k and 63% and it seems "too good" for them to be identical to 2012. Assuming the smallest possible range (13k) the chance for both to hit two arbitrary numbers in any order within that is 1 in 78.

Mario Maker could help increase sales for Wii U this year with the right marketing, but I'm still not fully sure what kind of game Mario Maker is.
Ah cheers RoboPlato. So we are potentially looking at somewhere between 8k and 18k difference in units sold accounting for margin of error. The swell in XB1 sales for the month is pretty impressive all things considered but as I said before hardly a resounding victory.

Since Sony isn't showing up to Gamescom, the price cut will have to be either at E3 or that Paris Games Week conference, which is well into October.
If anything, the Battlefront bundle might be the one to benefit from a price cut out of the other major ones (Batman and MGS 5).
