So what other countries has MS manage to outsell the PS4 in?
Brazil and probably Australia

MGS games sell well, but aren't quite monster blockbusters. And besides, Ground Zero isn't exactly MGS5.
Diablo III expansion is a wild card, but you're right about that one. I literally forgot it was coming out in March, because Diablo III.
Alright, now I'm getting confused as to who's joking or not.
Yeah, I think Sony (and Nintendo) had to learn that 250-300 is not sustainable for hardware dedicated to gaming. These things need to come out at 169.99 at most and decrease quickly to get the attention of mom and dad who want some device to distract their kids. For gaming dedicated handhelds, you really can't dismiss how powerful that part of the market is.
But overall, I just think the market is moving on from handhelds dedicated to gaming. Most people have smartphones or tablets that do gaming adequately enough for their tastes, since they would not consider themselves "hardcore gamers." I just hope Nintendo can come up with some revolutionary idea to change the trajectory of gaming dedicated handheld hardware...
They have piles of 3DS systems because they are selling lots. Just because a system is well stocked does not mean it isn't selling (see Xbox One).
That is the most important thing. They need to experiment or find a way to sell the normal game experiences in chunks or come up with more games $5-$15
Australia?
You happen to be wrong, but that's OK. 3DS isn't meeting anyone's expectations, even Nintendo's.
Sony seems content to twiddle their thumbs until inFamous.
I was just saying, the guy who said it would destroy everything was exegerating. Titanfall could come out on top, but there are other games that could sell better, dont ever underestimate MGS or Diablo.
They got outsold by their $100 more expensive competitor with weaker specs and bad press. Sony can do better.Even if Microsoft only shipped the same amount of systems in 2013 as sony shipped PS4s, they still wouldn't have sold out given that they still sold less than the PS4 in the US in 2013.
So I wouldn't oversell these supply issues too much. To this point they still seem to be shipping plenty of units.
No-one give a shit about Australia. They don't matter.
This is where Sony's anemic launch lineup kind of hurt them. They rode through November on hype, but when people were looking at software, Microsoft had three launch exclusives (two of which mostly well-liked by critics) and was already hyping up Titanfall in March.

Why are people cheerleading for corporations.
2012 didn't have a budget SKU launch or Pokemon.
I'm not exactly sure what's left in Nintendo's arsenal to prevent further decline.
I'm not sure a handheld sold at $169.99 from the get-go will do any better so long as games cost $40-$50. Both companies need to realise that they can't do the whole AAA console thing on handhelds - it's too expensive and the consumer doesn't appreciate it. Games like Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are both the present and future of handheld gaming, and they just need to be cheaper. Games like Killzone Liberation or whatever it was called - those will die a death.
Underlined for truth."According to the latest NPD report, PlayStation 4 remains the cumulative leader for next gen console sales in the US since the launch on November 15," said Sony's senior director of corporate communications, Dan Race.
"We sold every PS4 available at retail in the US and were out of stock in December due to overwhelming consumer demand. With more than 4.2 million PS4 systems sold worldwide, it's clear that the PS4's gaming and entertainment features are resonating with large audiences and we're doing our best to provide additional inventory in all of the 53 countries where it's available," added Race.
What's MGS4's LTD, like 5 million or something? I'm expecting Titanfall to do that in one month. And like I said, Ground Zero isn't even MGS5.
Australia and almost certainly Brazil.

These corporations take NPD numbers very seriously, and use them as a factor when deciding future corporate strategy for their products.
Also, some of us have personal, emotional, or financial connections to the companies.
For example, I have good friends at Nintendo and I have money in the company, so Nintendo's NPD performance is very important to me.
Your premise assumes that the home console and handheld markets are a singular entity.Yes because Nintendo are known for hitting their ridiculous expectations. The 3DS is a successful machine. What's more surprising in that, the month after launch when hype was still ripe and supply was plentiful, a brand new console couldn't even outsell it (the PS4 was supply constrained so that remains to be seen.) I fail to see how doing that, along with being the best selling system pretty much everywhere worldwide, makes it a failure. If the top console of the year and month is a failure, everything is. But it's not, so we move on. Keep your wrong opinion.

Since Microsoft has 6 out of the 10 slots for software sales in "new gen", I think that's what Alberto is alluding to.
Otherwise, all the hardware sales indicate is how supply constrained Sony is, and how Microsoft was able to meet demand in its key territory.
Have you forgotten that Titanfall is launching on 360 and PC?This guy thinks Titanfall will sell 5 million in one month? A new IP on a platform that can't come close to supporting those kind of sales yet? I doubt the Xbox One will be at 10 million by the time it releases. You're expecting around a 50% attach rate?

Not sure if anyone mentioned attach rates:
PS4 according to Sony at 2.3 and XBO is at 2.9 according to MS. People buying games is a good thing.
http://www.mcvuk.com/index.php/news/read/ps4-sales-reach-4-2-million
Sony confirmed that that does indeed mean worldwide and is 9.7 million games. If MS's attach is the same they sold 8.7 million. Pretty cool.

They can't.Heaven help investors and the company entire if they settle for "Its WiiU's best selling month yet! Road to recovery!" spin.

PS4 exclusives were sort of shit. I'm guessing the 4 PS4 entries that made the top 10 were Ghosts, BF4, Assassin's Creed 4, and either Madden or NBA. I wonder how those performed compared to their XB1 counterparts.

Poor WiiU. I wonder if they'll just ride it out, or make the same mistake again (mid-gen console release).
You think Titanfall is going to move 5 million in a month?
They can't.
We already got some January numbers.
On the table in the OP, the order of consoles listed for a game tells you that.
I'd agree with this too. No matter what we personally desire, they need to get games at $29.99 or less all the time. And they need to focus purely on games that are great in small bursts, instead of epic games. Sony keeps wanting to tout the "console-like" experiences of Vita games, until they had to turn it into an all-purpose indie machine, but it's too late now, and the thing is still too expensive vs. its competitor which has now a huge dominance in pure software.
It's a shame, since Vita is the most impressive piece of gaming dedicated handheld hardware ever made, with the best integrated online and OS functionality around, but it tanked because Sony read the market wrong.
I just hope Nintendo doesn't make the same mistake as Sony did next-gen, or we might lose the gaming dedicated handheld market quicker than it already seems likely to go.
