What are you talking about? I'm talking about consumers benefiting from a hungry/desperate Microsoft. The Zune HD is still one of the best dedicated MP3's out there, and it's been close to three years since it was discontinued.

We have the NPD figures of all months.
We have the percentage of NPD versus WW in november and december.
I am sure someone can do the maths and figure out the estimated number (somewhere near 4 million) for WW thus far.

Bluepoint won too. People see them as God-tier tech devs now. They did so good on their hardware they made Respawn look bad in the process.
What stunted growth? The studio was basically in risk of being shutdown at every single moment throughout development.
It's a fucking miracle the game shipped. Respawn is lucky they're still here today, and even more lucky that Titanfall sold well.
EA got paid.

So again, your resorting to the "because that's what they told us" argument.
I guess there's only one way to discover the truth. Someone will have to take a look at their next quarterly and yearly financial reports and simply do the math. If the numbers add up then we know they're being honest. If they don't then someone has the basis for a truly popcorn worthy story.

#8 in the US for an HD port of a decade+ year old game on one last gen platform and one TOTALLY dead platform is better than square enix should be expecting out of that, honestly.

If you are talking about just the US then yes, maybe they can claw things back.
But from a global perspective? No way. The damage that they have done in some parts of Europe, the Middle East and Asia is irreparable.

I've prolly said it about a hundred times now, but the only thing that could get Wii U back on track at this point is if Nintendo announces release dates for an exclusive game every month for a year at E3. At this point, it's not a name recognition, cost or power problem anymore. It's a no one thinks it will ever have any software problem.
Still waiting on those 3DS numbers... <chirp chirp>

Currently we can see that consumers don't particularly value XBO's price/value offering, at least relative to its main competitor, although relatively more than the Wii U.
At $399.99, the question is still to offer a value to consumers that say the system is worth getting over the PS4, despite its various advantages. One key is games, of course, and I think Microsoft is doing well on the announced titles front. I prefer their offerings so far to Sony's, out of what is currently revealed. The other key is finding something special to offset the system's limitations. TV and Kinect is obviously not going to be that, judging by their cold reception so far.
Read The Final Hours of Titanfall. MS saved the game from being cancelled.
I don't think they got a great return on their investment. EA sure did, though.

This made me realize something. In a lot of ways (in terms of marketing) Titanfall is similar to the original Demon's Souls: An AA game that gets hyped up to AAA levels. Demon/Dark Souls sells a couple of millions and is seen as a massive success because of its budget. I think the same can be said for Titanfall seeing as how Respawn seem happy with sales, but MS is not.
Big win for Respawn in the end.
7 million sold means 7 million sold. Lying would get the Better Business Bureau on your ass.
They already have a road map given to them from PS3/Sony circa 2010-present. And don't forget price was one place where Sony was pretty much screwed (and still is) thanks to Nvidia / cost reduction issues.
There's plenty of other places to add value and claw back, but MS really, really, really needs to get serious about giving up a lot of their monitization plans, and actually changing them into customer value propositions. They also need to learn quick that the marketing and PR is backfiring, and will continue to as long as their value propositions ring hollow. Gamers might be a fickle, annoying bunch, but they're not stupid. They see right through the corporate marketing speak, and realized a lot of what MS was offering was a chance to bend over as value was stripped from customer and transferred to shareholders.
They need to very clearly reverse that and make it about really giving gamers value; by offering them value. Not talk.

Sure, but that would mean the months for release dates for big games don't mean shit anymore, which has always been the rationality for being 'a system seller'.
