And since we don't have any Nintendo PR, I thought I'd celebrate with some depressing news.

Hm.
Well, what else was going to be the highest?
That'll be the Wii U, then.

How many commercials have you seen where they end with "now $450" or whatever? I haven't seen one. You have to be on top of it to find one that cheap and they only appear at different retailers at different times.
I'm guessing they are testing the waters and seeming how far they have to drop the price before starting a full on marketing blitz after E3.
They aren't doing so hot now, but they'll get it turned around.

What honest to goodness "system seller" has Playstation had since GTA3/VC/SA?
Sony doesn't win with "silver bullet" huge exclusive system sellers. They win by having a bunch of great games that all sell fairly well and their combined total of games across all genres produces a compelling library.
I assume public perception of the XBone is rapidly declining. The aggressive price drops alone are enough to do that. Pair it with declining sales in spite of enormous marketing and that's a lock. As a consequence I expect two things to happen as a result of this. Microsoft is going to increasingly try to associate themselves with Sony. They've already been doing this by increasing using of stuff like first person plural in an increasing number of PR type releases. And Sony is going to do the exact opposite - try to turn the XBone into a leper, kind of like what happened with the Wii U.
And internally I doubt Sony is happy. They're beating the XBone but success isn't about beating crippled competition. A big issue facing them right now is that their supply has finally met demand, but at the same time demand seems to have taken a nose dive. April and onward is where the holiday hype has finally completely died off and we start to see "real" numbers. If something doesn't change I think that could translate to 1xx,xxx figures for April.
Can we say "Return of the King" is official now?
I picture tears being fought back while this response was being composed.
Kind of a silly question/thought experiment:
How much do you guys think being in the "cultural center" of TV and pop culture in general matters for sales, in terms of videogames?
As a silly and not too representative example, what exactly does Conan adopting the PS4 for the latest Clueless Gamer segment actually mean, for example?
What about demoing, previewing, and reviewing most games on the PS4?
Is this an actual reflection of being the market leader, or does it feed back into larger sales by itself?
ps3 is at 67k. thanks aquamarine.

So Wii U beat someone this month. Congrats Wii U on being slightly less of a tragedy
wait a sec, so Wii U>PS3?
hold that, NOBODY is getting unit points for predictions lmao
Wii U always beats the Vita.So Wii U beat someone this month. Congrats Wii U on being slightly less of a tragedy
I DO WANT to see a one console generation like PS1/PS2, that would save the developers a lot of developing costs.
So I heard you guys need PS3 sales.
Since it's really late out, I guess I'll oblige and fill in the gaps. ;-)
BUT WAIT! I can't just give you the raw numbers! I have to be a bit tricky.
Luckily, with these percentages, you should be able to pinpoint the exact numbers. ;-)
March 2014:
PS3:
-68% from last year
-35% from last month
Wii U:
+3% from last year
-14% from last month
This should be enough to complete the NPD prediction spectrum. Enjoy, guys. ;-)
Same. It's not like i hated the PS1/PS2 generation, but i don't really think that 1 console generation will do the current gaming industry any good. Developers are already struggling on multiple platforms as it is.That is a very bad idea.
Never wish this, in any industry. For too many reasons for me to get into this late. But that is a super short sighted way to look at it, say goodbye to innovation and hello to price fixing, eventually declining sales due to stagnation, and as lot more sequels.
So what's the total for dk now?
LOL that would be hilarious
I think so, that means 130*.65=84.5k this month, and 130k+84.5k=214.5k total.
So I'll try my hand at estimating XB1 WW LTD based on previously released numbers thus will rely on some terrible assumptions I'm afraid
Xbox One: over 3 million sold to consumers in 2013
XB1 US LTD in 2013 = 909,132 [Nov. NPD] + 908,000 [Dec. NPD] = 1,817,132 units sold
1817/3000 = 0.6057 -> XB1 US sales for 2013 accounted for 60.57% of its WW sales
Thus with the new XB1 US LTD = 2,527,132
2527*(1/.6057) = 4172.26 -> Thus XB1 US LTD suggests XB1 WW LTD of 4,172,260
*Note I strongly feel that the XB1 sold better at launch in the rest of the world than it is currently doing since the last official WW sell-through number was given hence it is likely more than 60.57% of XB1 WW LTD sales are in the US
For instance if that number was now 65% [Less than 4% more than launch ratios], XB1 WW LTD would be 2527*(1/.65) = 3887.69 -> XB1 WW LTD of 3,887,690
I seriously think there's a decent chance XB1 WW LTD could be under 4M right now which is crazy

Because no one cares about the X1 beside NA/UK. Even with TF packed inside it.
It is basically like going to your house, and your mom tells you to get the eff out, and your adopted brother is better than you.
Where do you go now? Your neighbor's house?
Your aunt can take you in, but her favorite will always be her son and not you =(.
Now I feel bad for the X1...please someone let him
inside the house. It has TF after all.
The WiiU can stay outside though.
Meh. Each PS3 sale right now is profit. And each PS3 sale now has relatively minimal impact on overall PS3 software. 67K at profit is better than 100K at loss, etc.lol at Wii U > PS3. Sony really needs to pricecut that thing if they want anything resembling sales
These threads are great. I don't have enough knowledge to add to the discussion but I love reading it.
Thanks to the people who make it possible.

Persona 5 and Tales of Zesteria better come to the PS4.I suppose but PS3 software sales will only continue to decline as new buyers move onto the newer platform
Personally I somewhat expect a new PS3 sku based on the smaller Cell die at E3 this year, hopefully reasonably priced

That's why there's little point in trying to drive PS3 installed base anymore; it's an exercise in futility.I suppose but PS3 software sales will only continue to decline as new buyers move onto the newer platform
