RE6: PS4 21.1K, XBO 8.6K
閃乱カグラ: PS4 20.2K, PSV 7.6K

XSEED said that Senran Kagura is a good seller for them. I think these numbers are good, given the good ol' "100k" statement in the past.

I wish you would put together an XSEED list. :p

I'm pretty tired, so I have to be missing something obvious.

We know the XB1 and PS4 are up YoY. PS4 is up 0%, and the gap is ~88k.

We assumed the PS4 and XB1 did 340k and 236k last year, and Zhuge posted this

PS4 - PS3 = ~328k
XB1 - 360 = ~217k

This is where my brain melts.

Donny could you pm me your PS4 number? I just need to check some things.

What's the reason for what seems like a pretty high 3DS number? I haven't been following NPD in a while so I don't know how it compares with the past few months, but it seems good. Go NX, go.

If that 20% is the 3DS, it did really good when all it had is a Pokemon VC bundle that came out last month and a port of a Musou game. I just don't get how it would be up that much.

yup. i was one of the guys setting 'realistic expectations' even a year ago where it wasn't that significant, about the digital/physical share. it's still title dependent, but in some cases the scales have already tipped.

so yea, the new consoles have been very good at digital conversions

Yep I've heard similar things.

Man, I feel bad for Capcom.
Just remember that one time they invested the earnings of Monster Hunter 4 in a failed mobile venture and watch those symphatetic feelings melt away.

CAPCOM of all the Japanase companies has one of the most suited catalog for this brave new world of mobile/f2p/multiplayer/online dominance but they just keep failing to capitalize that.

Bunch of flops.

What I got with my numbers...

PS4 ~336k
XB1 ~245k
3DS ~174k
WiiU ~67k
PSV ~12k

I would just like to say I love the fact that we're at the point where we can say things like "not everything is going to be Splatoon" in regards to the performance of a first party game

warms my little squid heart
Yeah, game is a phenomenal success story.

Man, I feel bad for Capcom.
You shouldn’t feel bad, it was a lesson that someone at Capcom needed to learn. Ono, the producer comes across as very genuine so I doubt he pushed for this release. A great core gameplay still does not excuse them misreading the market. So many options could have been taken for a better launch and better first impression.

- Delay until more content was finished
- Release a cheaper digital only version
- Research the market for better consumer expectations
- Increase the budget/Marketing for the game

They also have some of the best IP in the industry (MH, RE, SF, MM, DD, DMC)) and they continually make dumb decisions with them.

SFV: 268k PS4 retail, plus another ~20% digital, plus 159k Steam, plus PS4 retail/digital WW.

So what would be we looking at WW all up? Under 600k, most likely. Certainly spectacularly short of Capcom's 2m target by the end of March

Yeah, game is a phenomenal success story.

Did it do particularly well in the US? I don't remember Nintendo releasing a PR to comment on its performance as they usually do to tout their successes, and I don't remember very high numbers. Maybe it had great tentacles?

.

SFV art and characters are unappealing in 2016; and very few people care about how finely tuned a competitive fighting game is. MKX is way more comercially appealing.
This is something I completely have to disagree with.

SFV's art style shits over MKX's and did before even coming into conceptualization. Of course, I am saying this to someone who prefers manga/anime influenced art over comic book art.

I mean have you seen the nude mods ;)? Lawd have mercy.

PC + US retail + UK outdated retail + JP outdated retail > 540k

I can't believe people thinks SFV did less than 600k WW.

It is more like over 700k... I won't be surprised if close to 1m.

BTW 2 million is shipment target.

They tweted shortly after launch that the game sold 1 million units worldwide and last month they said that the game sold around 4 million copies.

The street fighter failure party is gross in this thread.

They will hopefully continue to support it and make the game better.

I still don't think that arcade mode would have sold that many more copies. And at this point that's all the game is missing that sf4 had.

The appeal of fighting games on gameplay itself has been a niche forever.

I hope that they continue to try to grow the online player base and keep people playing.

And easy operation mode for matchmaking might be a good first step, similar to killer instinct. Only EO players can play EO players.

I really don't think that just single player modes will sell a ton more copies. The long term health of the game is based on people playing it online.

There's two major barriers there, cost of entry and learning curve.

A $20 download version with just Ryu, ken, Chun, Cammy, bison, birdie, and Zangief and the EO mode with special shortcuts and easy combo entry would help both of these.

I don't think Capcom is wrong to try to focus the game on online play but they need to do a lot more to make it happen.

Pretty sure it had great legs and continued to just do very well every month, don’t think it blew up anywhere specific.

I don’t understand this? How come people keep moving goal posts with was is successful?

Infamous - successful
Killzone Shadow Fall - successful
MLB - successful
Until Dawn - successful
Blood Borne - successful
Knack - successful

The Order - bombed
DriveClub- claimed back success
SFV - bombed

What a depressing first party lineup. Ugh, first parties with the exception of Nintendo have sucked real bad this generation... :(
