Xbone price cut didn't take effect here. Next NPDs will see the return of the king.
Why fear for the dead? The Vita can't feel any more pain.
There we go. Got the OP update in with full sourcing.
I surprised that people are surprised that Mario Kart 8 did so well:
1 - Mario Kart is one of the best-selling series of all-time.
2 - Mario Kart 8 got very high review scores (88 average on Metacritic).
3 - They were giving away a free $60 game if you purchased Mario Kart 8 at or near launch.
I'm not much of a Mario Kart fan and was planning on skipping it all together, but as soon as I found out about the free game, my plans changed from "Don't buy" to "Buy on Day 1 no matter what." I daresay Mario Kart 8 has a crazy high attach rate for Wii U owners.
It's bad but it's not dead yet. Let's wait for June numbers after all the MK8 an E3 hype. I'm sure numbers will improve drastically.
That's not a histogram!
That's a bar chart!
There's really no need, but if you want to torture yourself go ahead
Overall retail sales were up 52% year over year.
Hardware sales were up 95% year over year.
Software sales were up 57% year over year.
Sometimes you just don't have a game ready, you know? Maybe Smash was supposed to be that momentum carrier, but then it got delayed.

Like everybody said. People who wanted mk8 bought the console long time ago. Nintendo is just releasing the games that Nintendo gamers want. It's bad but it's not dead yet. Let's wait for June numbers after all the MK8 an E3 hype. I'm sure numbers will improve drastically.
They don't sell the Vita in the US, so no need to worry.
Do this month's Vita numbers include the release of the 2K Borderlands bundle?
Out of curiosity, does anyone have the Wii U numbers from Jan-May of last year and Jan-April this year?
NPD ranks systems from top-selling on down, so the PS4 version did sell the best of the three SKUs.

...it was two daysSo the the WiiU still sold horribly, even after a major boost. How are some people seeing this as the console doing well? 0_o
Wow. That is absolutely horrific. I'm at a loss for words at how anemic that is. Doesn't seem possible with the 4.1x week over week number..Yeah like I said before, no amount of games can change Wii U's fate. It simply isn't a platform most people want, unfortunately.
Wii U is for core Nintendo fans exclusively it seems.
There's no gaps between the bars on a histogram. Sorry, got a stats exam coming up so I'm being a tad nerdy?
What do you mean it's not a histogram?
Okay sorry I finally got the full numbers written correctly. Sorry my brain is fried today.
Wii U: 32,600 * 1.85 = 60,130 - Up 85% for May versus May 2013. May Numbers were 34K, though Aqua clarified to 32.6K.
So Wii U numbers are 60k-ish, that's bad,no?

64k after the biggest Wii U release of the year?
Hold up, is the order of platforms inside the brackets indicative of distribution?! Mind blown if true.PS4 outselling the XB1 in every multiplat release, damn.
Yes, but that should not be surprising. So Titanfall sold more on 360 than XBO.
I mean did you guys really expect the Wii U to skyrocket in two days?
