NPD Sales Results for November 2013 [Up3: Zelda, Pokemon, Mario, 3DS, Wii U]

This has been fun.

Crazy NPD day.

Thank you Manmademan for arguing with me. Hopefully we get the chance to do it again. Have fun scooping through the leftovers my friends!

Think I'm going to spin some Fringe discs.

I think the split between 360 and XB1 for Call of Duty is an interesting one. I wonder how big the split Titanfall will be between the two.

I'm not sure why it's interesting. I'm surprised it isn't bigger, really.

40MM base vs 1MM.

Ghosts was designed for last gen. Titanfall is designed for current gen.

People are getting tired of Ghosts and it had no media or enthusiast buzz. Titanfall is the next big thing and has the most enthusiast buzz of anything.

Ghosts is something you pick up with your One. Titanfall is the reason you bought your One.

I anticipate a 67% attach rate and a much smaller split compared to Ghosts.

The math is not correct. We need CoD's total sales to figure it out. What you're doing is multiplying 6.4% (the percent of CoD sales which were XB1 copies) times 909k (total XB1) sales which gives us a meaningless number.

Look at what happened when I used that method with the 360's % of CoD sales. We end up with a 7 million sales, which is obviously wrong.

Dude, I didn't really want to go through the math again but if I have to. Lets do it your way.

Lets say COD had 2000000 total sales.

2000000 * .064 = 124000 (XB1)
2000000 * .074 = 148000 (PS4)

Now again, assuming the same attach rate

128000 is to 909000 as
148000 is to X

128000/909000 = 148000/X

Now solve for X

X = 1051

Follow the same math for any theoretical COD sales amount and you get the same answer.

Ouch everything about Vita hurts :/
And people thought that Killzone Mercenary did bad :O
This sounds like the end of big exclusive first party titles for the Vita. I guess PS3/Vita will be treated like a single platform by Sony from now on for future games...including Gravity Rush 2.

This is heartbreaking :(

Nintendo is still my number one gaming love, and likely always will be. They offer so many different experiences that are just dripping with polish and creativity, despite so many of their questionable decisions.

I'm still getting a Wii U this Christmas.

I'll be proud to go down with this ship and sleep amongst the fallen titans of yore, before turning into a beautiful fish man that gallops amongst the sea

Yeah I don't expect it to sell it to the type of casuals who bought the Wii in droves but I'd expect it to sell to Moms and Dads who go to Best Buy and ask about the new consoles and see a game they might be able to play with their kids or college age students who play it at a friend's house and ends up liking it and starts to consider an Xbox One.

At $500 no.

You're absolutely right, but there's no way they'll ever make any money on the game.

Shadow Fall cost at least $30 million to make (practically all of Guerilla joining development for the last 6 months, plus several outside contractors). I suspect they needed about ~1.5 million units sold to break even, which it could do in lifetime sales but it seems unlikely.

CoD 2 sold 200k first week on 360 and had sold 2 million copies by 2008 so 1.5 million certainly isn't out of the question.

That's not true at all.

For 2 weeks and in the US only, Killzone Shadow Fall probably made 10 million in revenue for Sony.

Double that for Europe (Actually, should be even higher for Europe since they were sold in bundles), and Killzone will easily go on to exceed 30 million in revenue.

Really? I think it did incredibly well considering the two biggest console multiplat fps' were available at launch.

The fact that we now expect a single SKU of a multiplat to beat the biggest first-party software on the platform is pretty depressing... and alarming.

I think Sony will ship a little more than 3m at the end of the year... Walmart, Target (and I belive the other retails in US) are receiving a new shipment this week.

So 2.5m shipped right now is possible plus 500k for Asia = 3m to be announced soon... more 500k WW for the Christmas.

Well 3.5m for the year.

Sony has 2.2 million already sold (past week).

They'll sell at least 2 million on december worldwide: launches on Middle East this week, on Asia next week, and holyday sales on EEUU (big one this sunday) and Europe.

They'll get close to 4 million this year.

Xbox One has 2 millions and I expect 1 million more, at most.

They'll get near to 3 million this year (50-50 on USA maybe, 35-65 on G. Britain and far worst on other 11 countries they are).

March? PS4 will get easily to 6 million (with Japan launch included)... Xbox One will be around 4 at best.

And to think I was THIS close to biting on the Amazon black friday Vita deal. Glad I didn't, since the way things are looking I'll be able to buy one for nearly half the cost by this time next year (assuming the Vita is still in production of course.)

Vita-gaf, would a ps4 port work for this game? Or would it just be kinda mehh like Escape Plan?

BOMBSAWAY

Basically impossible with how the game is currently set up. I'm sure they could manage it somehow, but it wouldn't be the same. Tearaway is vita, vita is tearaway.

Just stop with the COD attach rate nonsense. I could make NFL picks based on having team mascots fight to the death. Even if I come out on top, it doesn't mean it's a valid methodology.
