Is wager that with bundles included the PS4 version of Destiny outsold the XBone in the US without a doubt.

It probably even outsold the XBO when only counting physical+digital. Destiny had a big digital push on the PS4 and Microsoft had the free game promotion during the launch week of Destiny, which would assure the bulk of new XBO owners went physical with Destiny.

I probably should have put "as a person that has been immersed in Bungie's creative culture for a long time and is a fan of sci-fi first person shooters which in particular has recent history that can inform us on what word of mouth can do to a game in Destiny's mold." But I thought "Halo fan" would say all that.

I suspect that if the Sunset Overdrive bundle fails to keep X1 hardware competitive, Microsoft is gonna have to scrap their current bundle strategy (new free game with console purchase) and go to the next tactic on their list - a straight up $49-99 price drop on base H/W MSRP.

So far, their bundling strat at $399 has failed to move the needle vs the competition (Titanfall, Madden, FH2, September free game) and i think the data clearly points out that it's time to move on and try something new.

a $349 bundle with AC:U or MCC should definitely get them back in the hunt but the question is whether or not microsoft is willing to spend that much ($100+) for a single user acquisition.

Yes, though for a new IP without a gigantic marketing budget that's pretty solid still.

It'd put it in the same ballpark as Dishonored.

A 2-3 million LTD isn't unfeasible, with some potential upside if it has good legs.

I'm happy to see the game do well. It is my GOTY so far. It's probably already past 1m WW sales and once the last gen versions hit, getting to 2m isn't too much of a stretch. Monolith deserves the success and hopefully, the sequel will be bigger and better.

The Destiny game in the PS4 bundle did not count.
And digital sales don't count either.

First party + $349 would be ideal to increase sales without paying out to another company. Microsoft needs to move fast because if they don't, then all of those people still playing their 360's might not move to an Xbox.

I was just thinking this. If MS after the month of December is trailing Sony by a million consoles or more at the start of the new year. Then they are in trouble. Worldwide they are getting destroyed. I just don't see what they could do at that point.
