More sales doesn't equal more support for their weak online infrastructure/lack of key features that were promised.
So much salt with this one. The wounds just sting a lot.

Persona 5. That's it. War is over.
I should have said went PC as a gaf poster and began downplaying the next-gen consoles. The underlying reason for this was the Wii U turning out to be an underpowered flop. I have no idea how long you've gamed on PC, obviously.
Always thought this was laughable, even more so now. MCC will be similar to The Last of Us: Remastered where it will sell great to existing owners but people aren't going to run out in droves to buy the console for it. At least no more than they already would have with it being November and all.
Both consoles did way better than I expected this month. I figured PS4 would be in the 375-400k range.
Any thoughts on the announced sales of Smash 3DS & Hyrule? I never get to hear your analysis these days, since I just hear "#s please" instead =).
What was the PS2's worldwide sales a year out comparatively?
Are we on pace for another 100+ million console seller or is that not sustainable in the industry anymore?
Congratulations to everyone at SCEI and SCE Worldwide Studios.

How dare you miss Wild?
Wouldn't be surprised if that's why Sony is keeping quiet on their US holiday bundle offer for now.

still the same number of posts though
How dare you miss Wild?
Can't really say that.
Back in 2007 there were 3 truly competitive consoles.
Now there are just 2.
Year on year sales for hardware are 136% up. That is not indicative of a shrinking market.
Exactly the person I was thinking about, another perfect example. I had a feeling you'd reply to that. LolYea, he "went pc" as a GAF poster. That makes total sense.
If you lived in a world where there is only console wars and the market isn't contracting
PS4's 538K September is higher than any September PS2 ever achieved...ever.
What's the post count looking like compared to the other NPD threads? We still have the meta predictions to consider.
I've been skimming through the thread, can't find anything other than around 550-600k for PS4.We have them.
ASide from gta, what would it be? LBP? They need to come out and say Bloodborne got moved up and will be releasing last week of November witha red console and controller for 399.99
so it's like the PS1 and PS2 gens.
Does anyone have the most recent numbers for each system worldwide?
Thanks! Yeah, that definitely puts it in perspective.
Crazy numbers.
Need more mana and chicken now.

PS2 2007 did better than PS4 2014 IIRC. PS2 sold well for a looong time.
Gotta release them all on the same day in the Fall tho, because "marketing data" or whatever nonsense.And they have nearly enough to release an exclusive every month. We'll still get a summer drought though. Motherfu*****!
Usually because I'm very busy / always on the move, and I can't devote a significant period of time to long, detailed, thought-out posts.
When this thread matures I might give something more in-depth.

Can't speak for everyone, but I'm just as hyped for Rime and TC as I am for Bloodborne and Uncharted.
There's just something so appealing about those mid tier titles that feel different and colourful.
PS2 was only available in Japan for its first 7 months, so it's hard to do a proper comparison.
Does anyone else think that these numbers could spell doom for Sony? After the unprecedented backlash against Destiny it's all but guaranteed that people are going to be returning their PS4's enmass before their Dual Shock 4's even have time to fall apart. They'll see the enertainment juggenaut MCC sitting on the shelves and won't be able to resist the allure of The One. Desting will leave them with a case of blue balls only The Master can satisfy. It's going to be a Onederful November!

tl;dr
sorry, you did not create a classic gaf post
Bend's been in full production for a good while now.

Well, you start at page 1...
...and you read...
...and you read some more...
...and then, when you're finished reading, you make a post!
I just assumed that was a 2016 title, if not later. One of my most anticipated though, purely due to the amazing potential on display in that reveal trailer.

We've already surpassed last month in terms of posts.
I know, right?
I would like to know in what world a fantastic 538K result is anything BUT amazing.
Some people's expectations...
Same for me here. On the XBone side, I'm pumped for Ori, Inside and Cuphead, just to see something new.
Gotta release them all on the same day in the Fall tho, because "marketing data" or whatever nonsense.
I don't know why you're calling me out, because
a) its not relevant
b) I regularly post in topics relating to all gaming platforms (I believe my first thread on GAF was asking about how to transfer PS2 saves to a PS3)
c) you're creating a narrative that doesn't exist, that my opinions are some sort of fanboy flip-flopping rather than MY OPINIONS.
I don't think the WiiU failing is good for the market; I don't think the Vita failing is good for the market. High profile failures in general are not good for the market.
I think there is severe market contraction that people are either choosing to ignore, or are blinded by press releases about "most launch units sold ever!", because press releases don't deal with continoung and ongoing sales, but ongoing sales are significantly more important to market stability than boom-bust hype cycles.
I don't think excluding demographics as 'not worth pursuing' or 'not our type of demographic' is good for the market, because it leads to over-specialised niches which - in any ecosystem - leads to stagnation, decay, and eventually death.
If you'd like to refute my views, specifics of my posts, or hypocrisy of my beliefs in my posts where I claim one thing for one platform, then another for a different one, then please go ahead and do so, but just going "I disagree, you're a fanboy" is just douchey.
I think there's also a Far Cry 4 bundle.
We've already surpassed last month in terms of posts.
So Pachter's prediction being uh controversial will likely lead to more overall posters actively engaging in the actual NPD thread when it comes out
Pros: More gaffers [likely not as familiar with sales trends] will participate in the NPD thread
Cons: More gaffers [likely not as familiar with sales trends] will participate in the NPD thread
Any bets on the final length of the September 2014 NPD thread?
- March 2014 - 7,109 replies -> Titanfall [+ bundles] month fails to propel XB1 ahead
- November 2013 - 5,349 replies -> PS4 + XB1 launch
- June 2014 - 4,781 replies -> Kinectless XB1 releases, fails to beat PS4
- January 2013 - 4,592 replies -> Wii U hard drop?
- May 2014 - 4,144 replies -> Watch Dogs release + MK8 release
September 2014 - ???? replies -> Destiny releases, PS4 Destiny Bundle releases, XB1 promotions, Fifa 15 releases, Pachter says numbers, internet goes crazy
I'm going to predict September beats out at least January for replies. NPD threads seem to be getting much more popular as of late
