Of course you should be laughing. That's hilarious.

When Tom Green was on MTV and he got away with stuff as distasteful as this, he used to get these hyper realistic baby dolls, dress up as a crazy woman and throw them around on a highway whilst people drive past in horror.

OP comic was dumb, though I did like the upside-down mouth.

I'll be perfectly honest - I don't care much for Buckley as a person, but I thought the original comic was fairly good. People go into webcomics expecting funny, and when the author decides to do something of a more serious nature, they get blasted for it. In fact, when Jim Davis was a couple years into writing Garfield, he wrote a disturbing comic for his Halloween strip, and people complained about it because they thought it was too depressing. So now every strip amounts to "Garfield likes lasagna and hates Mondays."

Ctrl Alt Del sucks but that strip in particular I liked (as well as the photoshops).
I think its fair to say that everything is pretty fucked up, but looking at the garfield strips, I was really wowed by what Jim Davis did.

In a time when we have Garfield without Garfield, seeing that Davis did something like that himself is pretty crazy. A philosophical Garfield? Who knew. I don't think people would have followed Garfield for as long as they did if he did go down this road, but I admit that it does tint the past a little rosier than it should.

I think that if he decides to take CAD down a more serious direction, that he needs to ditch the art style he's been using since the comic's inception as what's essentially a penny-arcade knock-off, and go down a different road. He can keep the name, just ditch the style, and I'm all ears for a more down-to-earth CAD.

I've read plenty of webcomics that have real life storylines. It's when webcomics that were never about the real life drama try to do it (and do it poorly) that shit hits the fan. Especially when they congratulate themselves like they've accomplished some momentous thing. Wow, you made a storyline about a character getting pregnant and 2 months later after a few bad jokes about how incompetent Ethan is to be a father, she has a miscarriage. He'd have accomplished far more keeping the kid around if he wanted to do a serious story.

It amazes me how deeply and thoroughly you guys know a comic that you seemingly cannot stand.

Shouldn't people know why they hate the things they hate?

You have a point there, but seeing as how CAD is an unfunny series that tries to be funny, I think a shift in focus is for the best. That's assuming he's going to keep this plot going.

I do agree with Darkpen that he needs to change the style if he wants the comic to become srs bsns.

I've met Tim a few times. He's actually good friends of a friend of mine from college. I decided to read the comic like a year after the first meeting. He can be a funny guy in person. The problem is that his writing skills kind of suck and he's basically pigeonholed himself into a very lifeless art style even though he actually has the talent that you wouldn't realize is there from the comics.

One of my favorite webcomics is Minus, which is neither funny, nor gaming related. It is, however, childish fun.

I don't expect my webcomics to be funny. Just good. CAD? Never been good.

When I say "people" I mean people in general.

Fair enough.

Also the above comic sucks. Sorry. When I read the first couple panels, I expected maybe a throwback to old cartoon slapstick humor. But no, it's just your stereotypical "extreme violence is funny!" humor.

It's not just that, the guy is complete douchebag when it comes to his own work and totally unreceptive to any form of criticism. As an artist, you should be constantly striving to improve yourself and the best way to do that is to listen to what your audience says. I remember a few years ago when I used to frequent the PA art forums. Tim posted a picture he drew of master chief in his CAD art style. It was pretty mediocre as you can imagine. As many of the posters on the forum were professional artists, they all gave Tim advice on how he could improve his technique (body stucture, line weight variation, etc...) Unfortunately, Tim took this as a form of insult and basically acted like a little turd mouthing off to everyone and throwing a hissy fit. The fact that his comic hasn't really improved in writing or art since the very beginning just shows that his sense of superiority is more important to him than anything else including his art.

If he's illiterate, how'd he know it was a "Satanic book of untold blasfummy wit' the power to unleash hurrible daemons what will destroy the world"?

I think you guys are being a little bit over sensitive to the OP comic. Now, don't get me wrong I'm not saying, "miscarriages are HI-larious!" However, I don't think the strip is either. I think it's a statement on the ninety degree turn that CAG's writer has taken his subject matter.

The first two panels are nonsense and a fart joke i.e. "the old stuff", verses the last two panels.

Anyway that's my take on it.

I haven't checked out PvP in years. The art has improved!

Also that Brick Launch - Miscarriage cartoon is fantastic. Keep up the good work!

So, would it have been possible for the doctor to catch this or what?
That's my main issue with this whole mess...what they described is one of the first things as a doctor you freaking ask about and test for soon after pregnancy is confimed. Hell, all you need to do is compare the blood type of the parents.

Can someone explain to me what the comic in the OP mean? (maybe it has been already been explained here, but i havnt read through all the posts, sorry).

I've heard crazier things. When I was in high school a chick asked in class what a period was. She must've been 16 or so. I don't think it's a troll.

there are more than one reason why miscarriages happen...

I seriously can't believe you people. Okay, you hate ctrl-alt-del, you find the storyline unfitting, okay but then you laugh about the proceedings depicted in there?

If you were able to show even a little empathy you wouldn't do that.

edit: Okay, so he has the whole story planned for years. And from his post, even the next years also. I can respect that.

What is it about webcomics and their lack of subtle humor. Almost everything I see seems to be to beat me over the head with bathroom humor or the kind of shit a five year old would find funny. The comic posted in the OP being a prime example of this.
