The ancient life on Mars was eradicated by aliens armed with nuclear weapons, plasma physicist and an expert in propulsion technologies Dr John Brandenburg believes. He therefore warns that a nuclear attack of this kind will also happen on Earth.

Damn. 2015 Frieza's coming back. We're fucked.

This sums up a lot of ideas about Mars in relation to earth. Long story short, Martians were assholes. They could have blown themselves up.

interesting, and the first time I've heard it told from that perspective. Usually it's the Mars colony separated themselves from the "Universal" Unity local space governing body because they realized that Unity had become a fascist state stamping out freedom of thought all obedience to a legend, a God no one remembers seeing, and people who claim to speak for him who seem to control everything.

We need to send a probe to Phobos, the aliens stored the nuclear weapons launcher there. After we study it we can build global defenses for the next attack.

There was a war between Mars and Phaeton.

Mars completely destroyed Phaeton, and the surviving Phaetonian fleet bombed the living hell out of Mars in revenge.

The surviving Phaetonians migrated to Earth, landing their mothership on the Atlantic Ocean and assisted in developing humanity.

An error in the mothership's engine causes it to sink.

The surviving Phaetonians attempt to preserve their bloodline by installing themselves as kings and queens across the planet.

????

Profit!

Probably what happened.

What does this mean in regards to the prospect of Star Wars being real? Like is there a new probability for Star Wars having actually happened somewhere in the universe at some point?

Stories like this are why science is so complicated.

People just here "scientist" and think "he must know what he's talking about." Even decent scientists are often wrong; it's the nature of the process of discovering the truth about the universe.

Even on topics like evolution or gravity, you still get scientists who criticize the theories -- and that's healthy, as no idea should be inviolate. This makes casual observation more complicated, though, as you can't just trust "a scientist" to necessarily be right or even in the mainstream of his profession.

What does the consensus say? When looking at studies, which studies were robustly designed with large sample sizes? Proper controls? All of these make observation much more difficult for casual observation.

Sounds legit.

The highest impact journals would rate around 30? Nature, Cell, Science, Annalen der Physik, etc?

Off the top of my head the highest rating is Annual Reviews of Immunology at 40+.
It's purely a reviews journal though.

I would show you the article that proves you all wrong, but there seems to be a missing link.
I know, not funny

Anyways, if your imagination is limited only to ideas that can be proven, then I'm sorry for your loss. I doubt it was that way when you were a child.

Interesting theory. We've only been around ourselves for a few hundred thousand years, who knows what was happening elsewhere hundreds of thousand of years before that.

Its a wonderfully insane idea that there are FTL Aliens roaming the galaxy looking for upcoming species and then just bombing their planet to dust because fuck 'em. Didn't come to colonize or collect resources, nope, just wanted to kill some primitives.

Almost bobody is trying to discuss an article about a paper who is going to be peer reviewed, making fun of things we don't understand is surely better.

I'll wait for this theory to be reviewed by the scientific community.
