Gpu-z run stone benchmarks and check sensors tab to see if you have thermal problems.I've been a Nvidia fanboy since decades as my last ATI card was bad.
My last 2070 lasted exactly to after the warranty ended, and now I just have so many bugs with Nvidia's recent patches.
My GPU goes crazy rampant over the most basic games and I am hesitant to update my GPU drivers.
Yeah I'm aware, but it's not in every game though.Gpu-z run stone benchmarks and check sensors tab to see if you have thermal problems.
Repaste and new thermal pads depending on where if/it shows

Reports from GeForce forum users indicate that the two most recent NVIDIA drivers, 581.80 WHQL and 581.57, no longer work correctly with three older Forza games: Forza Motorsport 6 Apex, Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3. Players are seeing error AP204 stating that the GPU is not compatible, even on new hardware such as the GeForce RTX 5090. Rolling back to previous 580 branch appears to restore normal operation.
An NVIDIA representative, Manuel Guzman, replied in the official 581.80 feedback thread and confirmed that the issue can be reproduced internally. He added that the team will check whether anything can be done, but also warned that a fix is not guaranteed, hinting that the cause may involve checks inside the games themselves that are outside NVIDIA's direct control.
These Forza titles are now quite old and have not received updates for years. Forza Motorsport 6 Apex last saw a patch in 2016, Forza Horizon 3 in 2018 and Forza Motorsport 7 in 2019, so new game patches to address driver changes seem unlikely. For now, anyone who still plays these games and encounters the AP204 error may need to stay on driver 576.88 or earlier, while those who do not rely on them can proceed with the new Game Ready 581.80 WHQL release.

Gotta love these guys for trying everything they can to get more hits.
Gotta love these guys for trying everything they can to get more hits.
The proper headline here would be "Older Forza games don't work properly on newer drivers", and if the author would do some research they'd find out that it's not just "older" Forza games but also not so older ones like FH5 which Playground just can't be bothered to patch to work properly on DX12 API.
And it's wrong. The games are broken as in they don't conform to D3D12 specs. What are you talking about? The title of that article is:
"NVIDIA's latest Game Ready drivers break support for older Forza titles"
And it's wrong. The games are broken as in they don't conform to D3D12 specs.
Nvidia driver was also not following D3D12 spec, possibly b/c they were fixing shit after developers who couldn't be bothered to patch their games.Nvidia drivers supported these games for years, and now they don't.
It was a decision made by nvidia.
Like what??breaking more shit than they fix.
Actually made some money off the 4070 Super, so my net was even less.![]()
How much may I ask? I may be upgrading to AM5/DDR5 next year and will get a new GPU too. I have the 4070S currently.
I can't remember exactly. Wasn't a lot. Less than a hundred. Not sure what they are selling for now though.
That's interesting. I sold my 2060 Super last week for $100..

This is a finite option though and now it's ending.
Update: Microsoft has confirmed that the recent Forza launch issues are not caused by GeForce drivers. The problem affects all GPU vendors and started after the September 29 Windows update, which introduced a new D3D12 runtime.
According to Microsoft, the bug appears when the game detects support for Tiled Resources Tier 4. Systems that do not expose Tier 4 support are unaffected. This includes hardware without Tier 4, older drivers that do not advertise Tier 4, or Windows 10/11 builds that predate the 23H2 feature set. On those systems, the three affected Forza titles continue to run as before.
Microsoft will deliver a fix in a future Windows update. No game patches or driver hotfixes have been announced so far.
I do wonder if Nvidia could "hide" Tier 4 resource "advertisement" when launching older games. In the end, it was Microsoft's fault. They updated the Videocardz article.

I can tell you really think you are "winning" here with some gotcha but it really doesn't take much to disprove the theory that they drivers and updates are all super stable and do not incur any issuesGoogle is telling me that the vast majority of stuff just works.
It's unsurprising how little Nvidia cares for gamers. Since the crypto started, their attention began to shift away from gamers. Now, its even worse due to AI. Their drivers are sloppy, their hardware engineering is sloppy(Power connector), their procices are out of control and the generational improvements are a tad shocking.I can tell you really think you are "winning" here with some gotcha but it really doesn't take much to disprove the theory that they drivers and updates are all super stable and do not incur any issues
so here, a quick bit of work done through CGPT for you.

It's Playground's fault. They can't program their engines on PC properly. And this one isn't the only issue they have, there is at least another one which is resulting in FH games crashing in Windows for several years now with zero fucks given from the developer/publisher.In the end, it was Microsoft's fault.
This is exactly what everyone were against when DX12 and VK were being made - an IHV fixing issues in s/w with their drivers.I do wonder if Nvidia could "hide" Tier 4 resource "advertisement" when launching older games.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a patch/update is.Tons of those issues were fixed. No one here is saying that there are no issues.
Now do a list of everything that works and see the near infinite difference...
"Duh, almost everything just works but because I am a ignorant hater I will pretend that it is garbage because of a tiny list of issues that don't even affect everyone, duh."![]()
My point is this near infinite hyperbolic bullshit/drama, again:You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a patch/update is.
Not sure which company you are dick riding so hard for, but your point has nothing to do with the fact that these companies ABSOLUTELY introduce issues with their update and patches. Just because they are fixed later doesn't mean that those issues aren't broken when they are first introduced.
breaking more shit than they fix.
