Nvidia Launches GTX 980 And GTX 970 "Maxwell" Graphics Cards ($549 & $329)

Any reviews mention the physical size of the cards? I have room for my 7970 but don't want to end up not being able to fit the 970 in there. Should be fine right?

Really? It seems to look very appealing in performance/price compared to the 780ti's I've been eye balling.

I picked up an oc'd R290X for $370.00 about three weeks ago; if you look hard enough, you can find excellent deals for 780 cards as well. Especially with bundle deals from Micro Center and New Egg.

I'm not saying this is a bad card, but it's not a huge performance jump and anything past the $500.00 mark is just funny at this point in time.

Oh, but DX 12... Roll eyes.

Pro tip: anyone looking to buy a card for The Witcher 3 should just wait until February to see what's out then and to get a better price.

The 970, on the other hand, not too shabby.

Tempted to get a 970 to replace my 670 but I really don't even need it yet considering I game on my 55 inch 1080p tv, and almost everything in my backlog already runs at 60 fps.
I also have a ps4 that I've barely used so far

How does the 970 compare to the R9 280x? In the market for a card but AMD looked to have my price range locked down ($350ish). If the 970 is on par or better I'll definitely get that.

For the SLI reviews, I'd highly advise sticking to PCPer. They have frame time data for all of their benchmarks, which is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR more informative.

Dumb question, but what is maxwell? I have an X79 motherboard, i7 3820, and a 680. Wondering if I can upgrade to a 980 without buying a new mb

Possibly the fastest card available yet it can't play WatchDogs 1440p/60 ultra settings. When were we going for 4K gaming again?

My shit is looking older every day. Probably because it is.

But I'm just going to go all-new next year because "my 2500k is fine" (and for now, the old 7700. PS4 will make sure I'm not missing out on newness till then)

When a new architecture emerges. People buying any single card nowadays and expecting it to be ready to go for 4k are deluding themselves.

I've never bought a GPU right out of the gate. When/where should i be paying attention to grab one? I think upgrading to a 970 from a 7850 should be pretty good, right?

I've been skimming reviews but haven't seen an answer yet. Has anyone read anything about the dimensions of some of these cards?

Im trying to see if they will fit in my current x51. I saw something that looked like 10.5 inches but it was unclear if it was for both the 970 and 980.

Newegg and Amazon are where I go for graphics cards. And yeah, it should be a major improvement from a 7850 based on the reviews.
