NVIDIA to release GeForce Titan

Huh? Are you using the beta driver? And making sure SLI works? I got horrible horrible framerates with my GTX 690 until I found out it wasn't using SLI. After some fiddling in Nvidia inspector I'm running the beta at 2560x1600, very high and 1xSMAA with a whopping 60fps. :)

Yep, using SLI and the beta drivers. It is smooth 60+ for the most part but occasionally drops into the 50s. Both GPU loads are about 98%! It's definitely playable but not perfectly what I would call 'maxing out'. :D

I'd be concerned about putting down this much cash so close to a new console generation. The prices on high end GPUs typically drop when the performance they offer is no longer considered high end.

The PS4 has been rumored to output 1.8 TFLOPs

My current system from 2010/2011 has 2.6 TFLOPs.

7970 has 3.8 TFLOPs at stock.

New generation of GPUs (not titan) come out this year.

We will be fine.

I can't max out Crysis 3 on my 690 at 2560 x 1440. I need TWO Titans!

+1

My GTX690 gets about 5-10 fps with Crysis 3 maxed @5760x1080. Bring on SLI Titan's NVIDIA please.

As crazy as an $900 card sounds I would bet NVIDIA sells out of all of them.

I don't think that next gen games will be unplayable on current high end GPUs, but they won't be mopping the floor with them the way they are now. GPUs like the 7970 will be considered mid-range at that point and the prices will adjust accordingly.

Titan is almost ~5 tflops right? Or am I thinking of something else?

It's not just GPUs that run a game though.

A lot of notable console ports, especially those on UE3, are extremely limited in frame latency because of the way the engines are coded. There's so much potential with modern day CPUs that is completely going to waste.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I think it's completely ridiculous to say one way or another at this point. No one has any idea except for the people actually making those games.

Well, current-gen games are heavily cpu-dependent (on consoles). The trend for next-gen seems to be offloading tasks from the cpu to the gpu, since they're much more capable; hence the use of somewhat low-end cpus.

A strong quadcore is going to kick all sorts of jaguar ass xD

I do expect a big bump in pc requirements, though. The new lines of gpus in the next years will do fine, provided they bump up the ram count (but that's what everyone is expecting).

Only a few more weeks until I have two of these bad boys. Still debating over 1080@120fps or 1440@60fps. Couldn't I just get 1080@120fps and downsample all my games from a higher resolution?

Plus... it seems all the awesome monitors have disappeared from the market. Is there some refresh coming soon?

If only for the day one resellers.

I hate those fuckers.

I agree, I hate them fuck-tards as well.

I want a Titan, perhaps 2 of them for myself! But ever since I went H20, I can't see myself getting Titan's until Waterblocks are released for them. So, I am not sure if I will get at least 1 Titan and run it on air until Waterblocks are out or just wait to buy 2xTitans with Waterblocks when they make them.

Anyone know how long after a new GPU is released that manufactures make Waterblocks available?

I heard rumors about EK already having waterblocks on the way. I don't know if they have a early version of it or what. I don't remember what forum I saw that under. I'm buying 2 on release day. I heard these bad boys are going to be rare as hell.

EK confirmed they were making waterblocks for the Tesla and Quadro cards. People have just started assuming blocks for the Tesla implies Titan ones as well.

but won't that be better for PC that console games next-gen would be GPU dependent? seeing as PC GPUs are more powerful?

So assuming this is going to be a limited thing like the 690 and a bitch to get a hold of, where do people suggest ordering from in Europe or at least keeping in eye out for it? Danish sites tend to be really slow and never get anything in stock. I remember a few great German sites but forgot their name and I ordered my 680s from overclock.co.uk so I'm keeping an eye out there.

Scan in the UK are sometimes decent I think.

Wow, your 3 year old system is more powerful than a PS4.

a 'weak ass' jaguar on the same chip as the GPU with super low latency will be very usable

You can order the 690 pretty easy here in the USA.

Some fakes

BTW this card will likely restricted by TDT target - if someone makes water cooling it might have crazy overclocking potential
Probably not, because they will lock out voltage adjustments. Yay for NVIDIA.

Can you buy from any of the card makers first party? Similar to how we buy from EVGA here in the States.

My point was that we will probably need more vram as next gen rolls out.

Since cpus are already much stronger than those rumoured for the next round of consoles, and since everything on high-end gpus is better too, the only thing "missing" is a lot of dedicated ram.

If Durango/Orbis end up having at least 4/5 dedicated gb of ram (regardless of bandwidth speed), gamers stuck with 2 gb gpus might have some trouble.

I'm just speculating and I'm no tech expert. But since we have to assume devs are lazy (especially when it comes to pc ports)...

Who will be the first gaffer to get his mittens on one of these Titans?

Probably Mkenyon, he is like a Ninja on getting new GPU's. He was able to score a GPU, cant remember which one while I was spamming f5 all day on Evga.com, but somehow he got a card.

The consoles can have all the VRAM in the world but it's useless without the actual horsepower to utilise it.

I don't get this. Is the Titan weaker than the 690? That doesn't make sense. Isn't it more expensive? I'm planning on building a gaming rig after a few months and was gonna pick up the titan, thinking it's the best in the market.

That seems legit. When stacked against the already available cards, it seems less impressive, weirdly.

I'm going to wait till the next gen of cards.

Why wouldn't it make sense? The 690 is a dual gpu card. It also come without the problems of a dual-gpu card. As for prices we don't have anything official except a few websites having database entries.

It's $100 less, and not SLI. That means no SLI profile fidgeting, and no frame of input lag.

Question : with the dawn of Titan what happens to the 690? Who would the 690 even appeal to considering the benefits mentioned in the posts above mine?
