.Couldn't you just buy a 690 for $999?

You can't really do a direct conversion from our prices in Scandinavia and guess what the price is going to be, we always pay way more for stuff than Americans do.
Just as an example, the 670 DC2 4GB is $459 on newegg.com, here in Sweden it is about 3800kr ($600). So we pay about 30% more than Americans for the same thing.
I'm seeing a lot of speculation that the release will be 9am EST as that was the NDA time for all of Fermi and Kepler.
Well shit.Now this is a professional slide;

If titan is like two pandas on the performance scale, this is definitely the best value in gaming.
Now that I think of it, wouldn't European based stores most likely start opening up for orders / listing the cards earlier - Considering those times are basically towards closing hours? Can't remember how the other cards were handled.
Furthermore, prominent Chinese hardware leaker PHK has released a performance slide (a rather fancy one) which gives us a hint at the performance level of GeForce GTX Titan against the HD 7970 and GTX 680. PHK claims that the HD 7970 GHz can reach on par with the GeForce GTX Titan only if it is clocked at 2 GHz *insert laugh smiley*.

Why, though? It's an architecture we know, not dual GPU, and just more of it. Graphics workloads scale. For some reason I have a feeling that the performance if this thing wont be as good as everyone is anticipating. This thread would go nuts.
what a waste of money ..... plain and simple

Back on board since the 2.5 Panda leak. Exciting times, folks!
Opinions, how do they work?
the thing is that people will be unable, in real life and outside "benchmark/fps competitions", to notice the difference with a card that cost half of that.
Honestly I cannot think of one single scenario where it is a good idea to invest that kind of money for this card.....
You apparently know sod all about computers and your eMachine suits you well.
Cards that cost half of that will provide ~70-75% of the performance. This could be the difference between 30 and 22 FPS. I'd wager most people would notice that.the thing is that people will be unable, in real life and outside "benchmark/fps competitions", to notice the difference with a card that cost half of that.

They still make eMachines? Hell...

Durante, I could agree if that would be the case, the thing is that I doubt there is game, now or in the near future, that a 680 gtx struggle to bring to 30 fps, or even up to 60 fps at a reasonable resolution of let's say 1920*1200 or even 2560 x 1440 if you wish. I believe that with the current and gen of games that extra computational power will be most likely wasted, you will not be able to appreciate it or the real-life gain will be really marginal, far from making this a worthwhile investment.
If you go from 100 fps to 170fps (or from 60 to 100).... nothing change for you really.
The target audience for this card probably plays at 2560x1600, and laughs at the idea of doing so without "proper" AA. If you try to do that in a modern game with a decent PC port (ie. with added features) no current single-GPU card is equal to the task.Durante, I could agree if that would be the case, the thing is that I doubt there is game, now or in the near future, that a 680 gtx struggle to bring to 30 fps, or even up to 60 fps at a reasonable resolution of let's say 1920*1200 or even 2560 x 1440 if you wish. I guess you haven't heard of multi-display setups, or maybe downsampling? Plenty of people in the PC screenshot thread who downsamples from 3200x1800 and other similar resolutions (I can "only" go to 2720x1530 with my 6950) and at that resolution you need all the power you can get.
I guess that with a multi monitor setup you could see the difference... but come on it is such a niche of people, moreover you could argue that a multimonitor setup just for gaming is already a waste of money itself.... but lets not go there...
Ah just to be clear.... everybody is entitle to spend money as they please, obviously!. I wasted a lot of money in stupid purchases, I just do not pretend it was a good investment or intelligent.
Finally downsampling. Interesting stuff, no question, but when it reach certain levels, crazy high resolutions, it becomes a bit ridiculous again.... you waste a huge quantity of computational power for a somewhat marginal (above certain thresholds) visual gain. You reach the point where you are actually actively trying to find a way to make the game not run smoothly on insanely powerful hardware.
and with this I think I exposed completely my point of view. I don't want to insist further.
You say it's niche. What do you call a ( rumored ) 1000 dollar card that is only being made in extremely few numbers - A mainstream offering? T

So perhaps gaming in general is an unintelligent, poor investment. Do you feel dumb every time you pick up that next $60 title knowing you could wait 3 months and by it for 1/3 or 1/2 off? Even then, it's still a waste?I guess that with a multi monitor setup you could see the difference... but come on it is such a niche of people, moreover you could argue that a multimonitor setup just for gaming is already a waste of money itself.... but lets not go there...

Also, next year when people are upgrading their GTX 680s to GTX 780s you'll still be able to look down upon them from the top of the heap. This thing isn't being beat until Maxwell comes out and that's coming late 2014 at the earliest. You say it's niche. What do you call a ( rumored ) 1000 dollar card that is only being made in extremely few numbers - A mainstream offering? Thing will be sold out within a day. You can hit the roof with a single monitor, you don't need multiple monitors to max out a GPU or even an SLI setup.
As for downsample, it's a perfectly valid form of increasing the IQ. Not every game has perfect AA options and downsampling also provides ultra-crisp IQ that few AA methods can offer. A downsampled game can be way beyond a 'marginal difference', anyone who downsamples often knows that.
This product is very much a welcome addition, people who know how to use it will be able to max it no problem.
And I say again, I'm able to work my 2 x 680s extremely hard on my single 30" monitor - Some games I can't even max out or add that much AA before they punish me. I could use the extra power no problem.
Ironic that the bottleneck will now be developers.
Hopefully when the next gen consoles launch they'll bust out from these imaginary walls they're forced behind. It's been like that for what feels like ages now.
edit : I'm sorry let me rephrase that, it's been like that since 2007.
