I'm glad you made that point. I'm still rocking a 460 and while it does me well for the most part, it is aging and struggles even with 1080p at times. Rather than throw another 460 in for SLI, I'd much rather get a 660-680. I'm more leaning towards waiting for Haswell and upgrading everything at once, though, but if the used prices on 670s drops big time I'd be willing to pull the trigger.
All the respect in the world for you guys that go for these high-end $500-800+ cards--I just can't bring myself to do it. A 670 new would be about as far as I'd go today, and I'd have to have a hell of a deal. The PNY 670 (reference cooler) has been as low as $260 after rebates, and the 660Ti has been under $200 too. If this card actually has decent stock, hopefully prices continue to drop in the new and used markets.

Yeah, take advantage of fools like me and get the used kit for cheap. It has to be one of the most reliable things you can buy used. They work - or don't. And most cards still have transferable warranty left! BUY USED.
If buying new, I say go Titan - only because it brings the best performance. Obviously, if you can't afford it - go with someone else, in that case I highly recommend the used market. It is going to be a buyer's market in the next week and ongoing.
If you only want the latest - go Titan. 580 SLI to 680 SLI is a jump but I would say don't bother with it. Either hang out with what you have until later this year when the 780s drop or upgrade to used 680s/690 or get a Titan or two. You really can't lose - resale value is about 75-80% of your purchase price. So there's no mistake to be made here, really.

I'm guessing you have you hands on a few Titans. You guys are killin me. I take someone's shift to get ready to buy this thing and you pull the old switch-a-roo. Now I keep reading how distributors of the card might be jacking up the price. Still can't wait for Thursday.
When I go Titan, I'll be happy to get $700-$800 for it. With eBay fees/risk/etc. - you can probably score a good deal going with another GAFfer when the time is right in the B/S/T thread. When I was running two 690s, I bought a used bare bones one (it was a Dell OEM - so just NVIDIA branded) for like $800 on eBay. That's damn cheap. Just keep watching. Prices will start to drop due to competition in the marketplace in the next week.
690s are killer cards. I've owned 15 680s (7 at once) and 2 690s, down to just 1 690 until Titan. Still prefer the 690 even over the 680 Classified or Lightning 680s I had.
If certain people didn't break the NDA the 18th rumour would never have started, and you guys wouldn't all be so sad right now

I love my 690, never experienced any of this microstutter and the card is quiet and cool....
Sethos posted a lot of good stuff on this a page or two back - microstutter is not as relevant as it once was on the NVIDIA side. Both 680s and 690s are awesome. SLI is great. I game with 120hz monitors only and I still don't experience it. YMMV...some are more sensitive than others, I guess...but it's a prior gen thing where it was a widespread "problem."

It's partly because microstutter isn't as perceptible at high framerates, and partly because of how Nvidia does frame buffering.

I'm still rocking a GTX 480 which seems to do everything I want at 1080p (for the most part), but winter is almost over and I will soon no longer need it to keep my area nice and toasty.

I want to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. My local reseller said that once they know the new card will be available, I can have one (or two).
It doesn't make sense upgrading just now with new consoles and new gpu series around the corner, but hey, 6gbddr5.
Well, "around the corner" is like 6+ months...so...it's not like it's that big of a deal to bite now versus later. Plus, again - you can get about 75-80% of your original investment back when you resell your card if you do it right.

Yeah, "around the corner" so to speak, you get a good mileage even if you're going to resell it as soon as new cards gets revealed.
Which you're not going to need to do, since performance wise this thing will probably max everything for a good 2+ years.

Anywho, what do you guys think of these specs? To be honest, I don't really understand all the technical features. So I'm not sure how this stacks up to a 680 or a 680 SLI.

I doubt any reviewer is going to watercool it or open the windows for some extreme benchmarking, so you're going to have to wait for other users' impressions to see how interesting it is

No, it is a dual-gpu card. It's not official like the 690 but it's still the same thing, as for crossfire having issues I've no clue, people have been reporting different things. I haven't been on team red since 2006 anyway.

I'm not an IQ guy, I just shoot for consistently low frame times as I play competitive games 90% of the time. And for the record, BF3 doesn't count as competitive. *throws gauntlet*
I just need a beefy single card that will keep my frame times below 8.3ms for a year and serve as a "baller" factor for getting additional clicks on a build log.
If I had a 500 or 600 series mid-high to high end card I wouldn't even look at these and I'd wait for Maxwell to hit. But I don't have anything as of right now so I'm going all out and then worry about an upgrade when Einstein comes around. By then DDR4 and 2TB SSDs should be super cheap and nvidia might have the ARM architecture based desktop processor out in the market. Yeah I'm not looking to do another build after this until 2017 or 2018... Similar to old-school console release schedules except I'm playing with big boy money now.

I'm fairly certain there will not be limited stock in the longer run. Can't wait for more benches.
Will overvolting only really be doable to any reasonable extent if you have watercooling?
