Nvidia's Project G-Assist (AI gaming assistant)

I need this for when I stop playing old RPGs for more than a couple weeks and then come back and have absolutely no idea what I was doing.

Yeah this could actually be really useful in a lot of games where you could get a story so far recap and then an overview of the mechanics etc.

Nvidia is optimizing the fun out of your games. Good job.

This is such a waste of resources, and ai prompt cycles (which produce massive amounts of energy still). If i'm stuck I usually find a hint in 1 minute on a steam forum.

it can be run off the GPU with a local LLM.

Using currated content from other people without even naming the source in first place let alone pay a single cent for it. This will surely work out very well if the clicks on the websites and thus the advertising revenue stop. All the content creators will certainly continue to spend their lifetime creating content for the Nvidias and Microsofts and GPTs of this world for nothing.

Yes let's just take all of the freedom developers have built into their game systems as well as the social metagame of discussing the best strategies online and just let AI take the wheel to act as a fancy waypoint. Gaming really is fucking dying.

Wrong thread, you're thinking of that one Sony patent. You need to click the link.

This is essentially like a better version of wiki sites like fextalife. This is much better conceptually, because I won't have 20 tabs open looking for that one item I missed in a Souls game.

Also I won't have to waste bandwidth on a fextralife stream playing in a tiny box in the corner.

Do you know of any solutions for tablets/mobile?
I'm on iOS at the moment, where Brave is my browser of choice. I just opened up fextra and see no stream.

On Android, Firefox supports extensions like on desktop so you should be able to get excellent results that way.

Project G-Assist is an AI assistant for your GeForce RTX PC.

With simple voice or text commands, G-Assist can maximize performance and optimize power efficiency, adjust game settings, provide real-time diagnostics, chart performance metrics, customize your peripherals and more – all powered locally by your GeForce RTX GPU – and is available now through NVIDIA app!

AKA even more dumbing down to accommodate an increasingly attention span-deficient audience.

Not all games should be for everyone. Having a solid barrier for entry is a benefit in my book.

In one hand this looks quite interesting

On the other hand, this is making people actually more stupid

So...

Hey that's pretty cool, specially for lazy bastards like myself who just can't keep up with all the latest technobabble.

With a name like that the AI voice better be 50

"Many mobs, wish death upon you
Here's a cheat code so you can push on through"

50 cent GIF

Is this feature really dead on arrival ? Do devs have to add databases of their own games to the cloud ? Im downloading it right now, anyone find a use case for it yet ?

I like how it can actually change things, first thing I'm going to try is make it set itself up for streaming to steamdeck, like lowering the resolution and putting the right aspect ratio. I wonder if its smart enough to launch games via voice go and do youtube searches for you and fullscreen videos.

Cortana used to a few things like that, I always kinda enjoyed that AI.
