Nvidia: Nintendo Switch 2 Leveled Up With NVIDIA AI-Powered DLSS and 4K Gaming

Wait is this real
Yes, screencap from Nintendo treehouse live gameplay in fidelity mode 4k/60fps

The Switch 2 version looks like a PS4 game on steroids and runs at 4K 60fps (DLSS performance probably). Very impressive. I think I might buy the switch 2 console just for this game.

I would have bought NS2 for this if the beams had a lighting effect on them. But as it stands, MP4 is my last voucher game.

I want the release date.

Hmm....

So they're saying it's around 10x the graphics performance of Switch 1. I don't think they literally mean 10x the TFs, as that'd mean Switch 2 having 7.84 TF of compute, well ahead of Xbox Series S and even the One X.

However, maybe when fully utilizing the DLSS components and when docked, the system can provide graphics performance equivalent to a raw 7.84 TF system, and that's what Nvidia are implying?

Prime 4 looks INSANE on Switch 2. Gameplay start at 1:11:40z Jaw dropping

Yeah I'd say this and that one F-Zero-looking racing game are the visual highlights for the system's launch. MK World doesn't look bad either, but...it's MK. Same for DK Bananza (I like the environmental destruction in it tho).

Metroid Prime 4 looks fantastic. The Nintendo games designed for lower power should all look fairly good on switch 2, with 1440p at a minimum and hopefully 60 fps targets

Obviously it's not a current gen power standard, so third party ports of ambitious visual games will notice serious declines over current gen counterparts

Maybe Nintendo are learning to create modern looking games and started DK and MKW with Switch 1 as a base and we'll see better looking game from them after some time. I'd like to know how Elden Ring runs on this. An asset and performance comparaison with the PS4 and PS4 pro versions could be a good first benchmark to see if it's closer to the first or the second one.

Little beast ;) in all seriousness for it's form factor and for the wonderful art style that Nintendo has in its first party lineup this will be very nice to look at.

Dlss is the shiz. Glad they chose Nvidia.

Framegen is not mentioned at all in that blog post. Huge miss for a current device slated to last 7 years.
I don't see why a 2d Mario game for example couldn't run on a switch 2 at 120 without framgen. It's probably for games like that.

Nintendo should invent a time machine so that framegen was a thing when this console entered development.
Frame gen has been a thing since 2022 from Nvidia. Meaning it was an option for Nintendo when selecting their feature set to include. There is absolutely no way Nintendo had their feature set locked in 2022.

Wow! Hardware wise this Switch 2 is solid, at least for the pricing...Mario Kart World looks like it´s gonna be another killer app for the entire lifespan of the system, DK Bananza looks pretty good and fun...With those specs, will it be compatatible with UE5 and ID Tech 8? At least Series S level of performance seems very doable, if not better. Everything perfect until that fucking game pricing! Why Nintendo? Also, how true it is the physical games won´t have the actual game and it will need to be downloaded?

I now see why that rumor began that MP4 would "blow everything else out of the water" regarding the direct. I am pleasantly surprised by all the info that came out today regarding DLSS, Hall effect joy cons, seeing these games in 4K etc. I'm actually shocked why Nintendo themselves withheld all this info yesterday.

Nintendo should've mentioned this in the Direct. Raytracing, DLSS, Nvidia name-drop etc.
That would make it an advertisement for Nvidia as opposed to Nintendo.
Anyone who cares about any of those acronyms is going to realize that they could get better results via emulation with a real Nvidia GPU.
It's the exact same problem PlayStation has as an AMD/AMD box and the reason why R&D matters now more than ever.
Console gaming without proprietary console HW is driving PC gaming and literally digging its own hole like never before.
You can use OEM Nintendo controllers on a PC and play downloaded Switch games with a 'better' Nvidia GPU than Switch 2 has.
You can use OEM DualSense controllers on a PC and play many of the same PS5 games on a 'better' AMD CPU/GPU than PS5 Pro has.

Still images are always flatering, look:

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't catch the sarcasm haha

I'm constantly more impressed by the tech inside the Switch 2 the more I read the last couple days. Just awesome to see Nintendo embrace modern tech again for more advanced games. I love it. Selling my Steam Deck to raise the funds. 😂

Why does this look so much like Halo?
Well a lot of people left Retro back in the mid 2000s and went on to 343 to make Halo 4. Maybe they were hired back?

I dunno, a sci fi shoooter in space with lots of spaceships and shooting at aliens just invites a lot of comparisons, ya know 🤷‍♂️.

They owe it all to Alien

I feel like late Halo started looking more like Prime than the other way around.

And reading the above comments about Retro -> 343, that makes sense now.

Either way, both look great, so I'm happy.

The only thing that matters about the technical aspects are how the end results look. Nintendo games almost always look great, regardless of platform.

Imagine thinking that digital foundry and likeminded technical breakdowns are interesting in the slightest. I always felt one of the primary benefits of not being a PC nerd is not having to care about this stupid shit.

Remember when people here said the switch 2 will never get games like cyberpunk. .... pepperidge farms remembers.

no disrespect but anyone who plays this game on the original switch needs to check at the nearest hospital.

this is too good to be true -_-

super impressive
I fully intended to just keep my OLED Switch and play it on that and hold off getting the Switch 2 for a while. Based on some of the things I've learned and saw today, I'm leaning towards getting Switch 2 at launch now.

The portable screen has G-Sync? Fucking nice.

They dropped the ball a bit imo not mentioning all this stuff on yesterday's presentation, all this is very good news.
They know Nintendo fans are idiots, so wouldn't appreciate that stuff

/s, but not really
