NX Controller Rumor [Up5: Original was fake, and thus this is too]

I'm thinking there is more to that rounded off design. Looks like it's supposed to fit into something.

Hey, thats not a bad idea. altho the 3.5 mm audiojacket wouldent work.

Also, could there be buttons on the backside? Sort of like steamcontroller and Xbox one elite controller or has that already been covered. thread goes nuts :)

The problem is that Haptic Feedback, if I understands it correctly, only give you information AFTER you did the input. This will not improve the precision of your input in anyway; it will only tells you your previous input has failed.

Physically button interface works because you have the option of laying your finger on top of the button without actually pressing it, this way you are 100% sure where the input location is without diverting your vision.

Or have I been understanding the Hpatic feedback wrong?

With something akin Apple's force touch it could work. Feedback when you have you finger over the screen, different/stronger feedback when you press it.

I think the gamepad is super comfy, except for the triggers. It feels weird having them so far from L and R. But otherwise it's a pretty good controller that's actually very traditional if you remove the, uh, massive screen. It has a great d-pad too, much better than 1st party efforts from Sony and MS IMHO (I buy Hori controllers for my Sony systems for this very reason).

I don't think it will have buttons in the back. Ideas for mobile devices is to have it as simple as possible. Most travelers I see use devices with one hand. Back buttons would complicate the average non gamer.

this is from Apple, a company with a ton of money and resources, after months of development and refinement on this prototype. It still looks like a toy with a funhouse mirror for a screen

and yet some college kid could spit out the device we're looking at? in just a day or so?
Apple products use simple geometry as well. Wouldn't be difficult to replicate them on modeling software. Also this says a lot about Apple design haha. And yeah, as someone demonstrated earlier it doesn't take much to replicate this thing.

Just saw these images and my thought is that if faked, it must be someone with connections. Why do you assume its just a college kid? People with connections like to pull pranks too.
University kids can create some crazy stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a guy in college.

Well....I think Nintendo ON might qualify.

I think this controller is real tho.

It's not the same thing. The Nintendo on hoax was clearly very polished and CG looking. It might have looked like marketing material but it didn't look like a real product. This is a controller laying on a desk and looking very real.

I just can't imagine how they looked ate their core IPs and decided that dual analogs were the only important enough control inputs to actually build into the controller...

There's an article going around about a guy who designed and created his own 3D printed invisalign-styled braces. He used his school's 3D printer. Cost him about $60. He even documented the proof that it worked.

Yeah, that's the beauty of having 3D printers available at universities. They're pretty damn good printers too!

They usually build the controllers around their franchises. We don't know how the controller works

I mean, yeah, but it is still comfortable.

I personally don't think it's comfortable. Especially when playing a 60+ hour game like XBX or coming home from a long day of work. I'd choose a pro controller over it any day. Comfort and fluid controlling > gimmicks.

You know, I could actually see getting rid of the second analog stick before the buttons. It would be sort of like the steam controller.

One my favourite things about the Wiimote + Nunchuk combo was that you could scratch your ass while playing without having to take your fingers off the controls. I feel like I have to reserve judgment for that reason.

The gamepad wasn't a gimmick in games like X. It's pretty useful

I think a lot of the hate on a forum like gaf is coming from that fact that nintendo is coming off a huge failure with the wii u... and they seem to be doubling down on the "gimmicky, third party unfriendly" strategy that has killed them so bad this gen. this strategy would almost certainly not address all of the problems a bunch of people had with the wii u.

the pushback seems to be from it mostly being different and appearing uncomfortable. there's no proof of concept to show why this is the way it is (there never was for 3ds, and it took wii u years to get there, but this is a rather drastic change versus ds but in 3d and game controller but with a screen in the middle).

the wii u is a spectacular failure in that everything that could have went wrong in its first two years (2011-2013) basically did. it's the 'billy and the clonosaurus' of video game consoles. most of the big problems stem from the gamepad, but not because it's 'gimmicky'.

With the NX controller, you can play games while you drive. Just replace the rear view mirror in your car with the NX controller.

What could possibly go wrong?!

My concern with the Gamepad wasn't that it was uncomfortable, but that it felt like a cheap piece of plastic like the 3DS did. The sticks don't click as easy as other controllers and I feel like the thing's going to snap in half. If this controller's going to be fancy again, I hope they found a new vein of Nintendium.

Hey, think about the people who lives on selling buttscratchers !

%101 day one if this console is more powerful than X1/PS4 it should be..no? Lesson learned with the WiiU, now it just collects dust sealed off in the box since the initial launch.

what difference would it make if it was more powerful than the other two? are your friends going to abandon ship and flock to the NX? probably not.

No, no that's not the case, just kinna would love to see a more powerful/capable console graphically, running gms in 4K ...you know, that type of stuff.

Nintendo should totally make this Splatfest. If #TeamReal wins, we will get this controller as the NX one. If #TeamFake wins, Nintendo will build NX around GameCube Controller/Wii U Pro Controller hybrid.

Knowing Splatfest, the vast majority of people will vote for #TeamFake in hopes of Nintendo will make it more traditional... and then #TeamReal wins with an overwhelming high win rate.

I think it's funny that the websites trying to debunk the leak are all Nintendo fan sites because they can't believe that Nintendo are doomed. Sorry folks the leak looks legit on the bright side, the controller won't get mistaken for one of my niece's toys :/
