I think this is a bad sign for Nintendo but its hard to know what this announcement means without more information. It certainly seems like we're going to be waiting quite a while before we get any actual information.
I feel the need to quote this back to the newer pages. Might be Space World revived.
Damn, PS4K will prey on NX sales this holiday.

I want to believe
Lol. Get out of here with this. The mainstream aren't going to be buying a new console in March. Parents arent going to buy a new console in March. The core gaming audience will be busy with VR. That leaves the Nintendo fans who will still buy day one, though I imagine those will be dwindling with how bad Nintendo is burning their fan base with wii u this year.So you homeless and starving in March?
Because everyone betting on 2017 saw the March release date coming, right?![]()

I want to believe
and why would you do that? actual question.
They are going to reveal their thing in 2016 they will release 2 months into 2017? ORLY!
Where are you, Nintendo? You disappeared from the world.
Nintendo will not miss that March target. It was probably planned for an earlier launch but settled on a more realistic and attainable time.
They are a publicly traded company. They have certain responsibilities when it comes to reporting their plans for profitability.
This gives Wii U a life cycle of 4.5 years, Damned respectable.
Well there are consumers there on the showfloor, but that would mean they would reveal it two months later; I don't think that's going to happen. Would be a huge fuck you towards E3.I know that E3 is gaming Mecca, Christmas and all that, but is it possible that they might show it off at Gamescom instead?
Technically it is a 'bigger' show than E3. Perhaps they will have a double blow out at TGS AND GC, where i think their markets are strongest.

It's the, 'with a brand new concept' part that concerns me.
Just give us a great controller and some great games. We don't need new concepts of how to do gaming. We just need new great Nintendo games.
Motion control was ok, the second screen was ok ... neither really caught on outside their console. I hope they don't mess this up.

They need everyone to buy this console at a time when they have money to spend, that is not in March.
Hah, loving the posts on here.
Interesting: Zelda the only playable game at E3 seems rather boring. What about other games like Paper Mario?
When was the last time Nintendo launched a home console in March? I smell a delay all the way until November 2017.
Metroid Fed Force delay makes sense, they need to pad out the last four months of the year.
The key thing is that they are not using E3 as their venue to reveal this product, but probably their own event. Possibly even their OWN trade show Space World.
E3 is not the platform anymore to reveal new hardware. A special Nintendo event will get probably more media attention.
Or the processors they are using wouldn't be ready before then. Who knows...
Hasn't he been right so far? That's the impression I always gone when lurking NeoGAF.
Thye want a great lineup of games at launch. Its that simple.
They fucked up the launch of both WiiU and 3DS. Better to miss the potentially lucrative holiday season with a weak lineup than a blockbuster lineup a few month later, right?
Software isnt ready.
Gee, that sounds awfully familiar....
I don't know, we've had one poster in this thread deride the idea of a holiday launch being lucrative as "simplistic" thinking.
I've seen quite a few people speculating that the March date won't stick, but that would be completely unprecedented. I can't remember the last console that was delayed in every region for 6+ months after a release window was announced. I don't think it has ever happened actually.

Sell decently to who? The same people that made the wii u a sales disaster? If the launch lineup is great and marketing is intact they will sell decently. No more armchair arguing. Jeez GAF is intolerable sometimes.
You do realize that Sony and MS revealed their systems outside of E3 and invited the press to these events right? When has the media ever cared about Nintendo Direct?
E3 is the largest industry media event in the world. Every mainstream media outlet from CNN to BBC is at it.
Missing E3 shows something has gone very wrong with the NX.
Remember Aounuma saying that they wanted to reinvent many of the Zelda formulas.
With all of their E3 focus on Zelda, I am pretty sure this is gonna be their biggest most ambitious game yet, with some huge changes to the Zelda gameplay.

I'm guessing you were too young to remember this?

It was supposed to launch Fall '97.
Nobody has money in March, Nintendo.
Get a clue, for christs sake.
