NX will launch in March 2017 globally, won't be at E3 (focusing on Zelda instead)

no they aren't.

No new home console until march.
March home console launch.
No Wii U games incoming.
Zelda delayed.
No E3 show for NX.
No E3 show for nothing.
Only Zelda at E3.
Two major IPs coming to mobile, to fill that (intentional, at this point?) gap.

I mean: it is pretty clear how Nintendo is dimantling its (previously) core home console business.

Pack it up.

Seriously. This is one of the worst possible ways they could have done this.

Honestly this seems like some sort of stall while they shove all their eggs into the NX basket. I mean, this year is probably going to suck at E3 for Nintendo, but like it feels like they're trying to prepare something big for early next year.

Of course the one time I'm extremely busy Nintendo drops the NX megatons. No NX at E3 is very surprising, I was also expecting a November 2016 launch.

eh, nintendo's not going to rely on two mobile apps as their new backbone. i think they really wanted nx out earlier but couldn't make it happen. i think the same happened to 3ds (probably targeted fall 2010 initially) and wii u (i would assume this was fall 2011 at first).

I still don't believe it's a console.

Everything about their new "strategy" points to a complete transition to mobile and handhelds.

I don't see much a problem with March 2017, but no E3 is weird. I'm curious as to what the reason for that decision was.

For the new page.

Something else too is that I imagine Kimishima is having to do more than we think behind the scenes. He's business and likely shifting everything. Reggie also spoke about this being a transitioning time for Nintendo as well. New buildings, restructuring, merging software and hardware divisions, getting into mobile. This is still transition for Nintendo and to the NX that been going on for the past 3 or so years now. Not something only said last year by Reggie.

Also don't forget the rumors about the NX is likely getting ports of the 4 best Wii U games. They've been shifting for awhile due to how terrible the Wii U has been doing and from other things looking to standardize. I'm curious about the specs and what Nikkei said.

EDIT: Never mind, it was posted.
Great. Bring only one game to E3 and it's the inferior version of a 2017 game that'll come out on next gen hardware. Brilliant move, Nintendo.

We don't know for sure, no, but if their E3 is gonna focus on a game they delayed for their next system's launch, it certainly doesn't inspire much hope in whatever Wii U games they have in the cards now.

It doesn't at all and this was apparent in any of their recent Directs. The last biggest thing to make rounds at a Direct was Cloud being in Smash.

That's what they're saying. They're not exactly going to say they're focusing on x unannounced game. The wording on that quote is ambiguous as well, Zelda U may be the only playable game but it sure as hell won't be the only one there. Nintendo may be crazy but they're not crazy enough to have a console go 11 months with only one game.

So, Skyward Sword HD this christmas then?
It was leaked to be a Wii Virtual Console release on the eShop.

Anyway, this quote interests me.
Nintendo said:
Nintendo will design the latter game so that it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems.
Animal Crossing NX confirmed?

It sucks that it's 2017.
It's good that it's early 2017... for now.
It's good that it's a global launch.

But man, hopefully completely missing the holiday shopping season doesn't kill them. I wonder if they'll be doing a bunch of eyes-on demos of anything.

The stupidest part of this is Wii U Zelda will almost certainly be the inferior version...

So they are devoting a whole show to a version that most people won't be playing if their plan goes right...

Stupid.

Tell me how Zelda TP on NGC was the "inferior" version of the two.

Launching on March and not having this thing properly presented at E3 can mean 2 things:

a) Its going to crash harder than the wii u
or
b)Its not going to be a proper gaming console

So yeah, gg Nintendo, im sure 2 years of shitty E3s are not going to hurt you, not at all, nope

When the fuck are they planning to show the console? This is so stupid, I can't help but fear that the NX will be another trainwreck.

WTF?! just woke up to this news.

That better be one good fucking Zelda and one good fucking console...

Basicly: i want it sooner but i don't mind waiting if it's all great.

They are just going to miss Holiday money this year... that's bold.

Only having Zelda at E3 but then saying they will announce details of what they'll be doing at E3 doesn't really make much sense to me, I feel like there is some misunderstanding here and their E3 presentation will have much more than Zelda (and hopefully an NX reveal) but the only thing that will actually be at E3 is Zelda.

The reactions in this thread are pathetic.
He's got a point though. VV

Somehow, i feel like Nintendo is expecting the fans to be something like:

"Wow, if it looks like that on WiiU, imagine how awesome it will look on the NX! Sign me up for the NX version Nintendo!"

AMD confirmed 2 new releases this year tho. So that means its MS and Sony.

MS and Sony's E3 will overshadow Nintendo so badly its not even funny. The NX will have a horrible launch. Seriously how could they not launch for the holidays? Everyone this holiday season will spend a bunch of money on new consoles. That is the perfect time to release hardware. Why the fuck would anyone go out and buy new hardware again shortly after in March? Not showing anything at E3 is probably the dumbest thing they could have done. Something is seriously wrong with this company. They just dump all this info an earnings call Instead of having an E3 conference for their fans where they announce everything. Like they wanted to kill off any hype for this thing. They just don't give a shit.

Seriously. This is one of the worst possible ways they could have done this.

How can you believe that?

Dismantling their console business by launching ANOTHER one?

No games are clearly being made for this console we know nothing about?

Calm the fuck down people

All I'm understanding from this hubbub is that Nintendo thinks E3 is completely irrelevant. I mean, it was already implicit, but launching a console before presenting it at any E3 is a pretty strong message in that regard. Unless I'm getting my dates wrong, that is.
