So far I have 5-6 people confirmed for the December 12 meetup. If you can, please let me know your interest in going because that will determine where we'll go for food + drinks :)

Sorry for not being so active around this thread duders. My head is all over the place at the moment between a looming deadline to make a comic and other things going on. A few things:

Again for anyone who's too lazy to view the doc, I'll leave the quote-to-reveal link again here for anyone who's interested:

Otherwise, I might scrap the idea entirely in favor of PM'ing folks since it looks like the interest is low so far which saddens me a bit; I have at least one specific person in mind that definitely needs an IOU from me/thank you gift.

As for the December 12th meet up, I'm still on the fence about it since the Pre-Con Walker Stalker thing is optional. I'm leaning towards going but I won't stay out too late since I have to be up by 5AM the next day to be at Jersey by 7:30AM. Will keep you guys posted on my decision. Obviously, if I were to go, then fence sitters that show up to the regular meet ups will probably be more likely to go. At some point I do hope to have a banner by late next week at latest but do have the place and time ready by next week for any lurkers out there that might want to show up.

Lastly and slightly off-topic: I reapplied to return as an Enforcer to next year's PAX East which is tentative at the moment but I think I should have the time for it so no March meet up for sure. Until then, I'll be lurking.

I'll be there for East most likely. I have to get my editor to send an email to PAX to confirm everything, but one way or another I'll be there. Also, as much as I love hostels, I'm thinking about grabbing an AirBNB this year. If anyone wants to share a room with me and you're normal, shoot me a PM.

I'm really excited about this meetup. It's been a rough few weeks and I could use a bit of a calm reprieve with friends.

I think a couple of friends that I worked with at NY Comic Con are gonna see if we share a room at the Seaport Hotel as opposed to the Omni Parker House last year (as nice as it was being in the heart of downtown Boston) or possibly look into renting a house via AirBnB even if it means traveling outer Boston. I've been itching to taste Boston's subway system to see how different it is from the MTA. I'm pretty damn sure there's plenty of normal folks here. DoktorEvil is good peeps all around.

Don't worry I've been lurking in your other thread as well. It seems that 2015 is the year of big changes for many people. The winds of changes will be blowing throughout the city. Glad to see some excitement here. That's good.

@Kisaya the pretty damn good so far on the little line up. Me gusta. Have you guys decided upon a place and time yet?

Once I figure out how many more people wanna go ;P going to def be food + drinks thou

Awesome! The list keeps on growing. The more, the merrier I always say.

Happy Monday folks, hope you all had a good weekend. Thanksgiving and Black Friday are just around the corner! I heard that new Smash Bros game is making quite the splash that it's dominating people's time in between other heavy hitter games. As for me, Fantasy Life has been my addiction lately. It's seriously so good and charming.

DoktorEvil and I have been discussing some plans about having a small Smash Bros Wii U tournament at a bar for some time this upcoming weekend if not then the weekend of December 4th. Details being worked out at the moment since DoktorEvil is checking in with a few bars so I'll leave it to him to post the details but generally we want between 8-10 people at most turn out once he decides upon a place with a decent rate. We're thinking about doing it via PM so that it stays that size. If anyone is interested though, feel free to holler. That's pretty much it for now.

Happy Saturday night folks. After doing some thinking, I decided to scrap the Secret Santa idea. The whole gift giving idea is still encouraged though!

I've been doing some other thinking about possibly going up to The People's Improv Theatre either before or after Barcade to see a show. It's a damn good place.

@Kisaya, I think meeting at The Uncommons would be a nice place/idea provided you call to reserve tables in advance. Pau and Karkador can be the board game masters since they're experts.

I was actually gonna update this thread yesterday but put off the post I typed up. Here's the original post:

tumblr_inline_mwkvfa83IH1rzgs9v.gif

While Mully has been making threads about peoples love of butts, this thread hasn't been given much love. Let's give it a much needed shot in the arm shall we?

I think I'm gonna make a mystery grab bag/package comprised of stuff that I have from past events that I've attended/random stuff coming from my stuff. What it'll be composed of is a mystery. One of the lucky recipients who attends will go home with a lovely Christmas package. The conditions to win the package are to be decided but I'm thinking about either a board game or something else. Not really a big fan of doing competitions in all honesty.

Also as of today, there's exactly one week for folks to sign up to next week's Kisaya+Sai Kun hosted event. If anyone is still interested, feel free to PM Kisaya or post in here. That's pretty much it for now.

I'll ask this question somewhere down the line in either the NYC thread or a new thread but would anyone be interested in starting a local NeoGAF notebook project? The idea would be to ideally have it travel through all five boroughs. Other logistics such as who keeps the finished notebook as well holding people accountable if it's held up with one person too long would have to be considered. I would think that it should go back to the original person (in this case, me). Ideally, I would start it in one of these upcoming meet ups and maybe make that into a guest book of sorts.

IF you start a notebook project, I wouldn't be against the idea.

I'd love to do a time capsule project and bury something in Central Park if that was ever possible.

I've never been to a meet up. But would love to. Does this forum ever do one on the West Coast? California?

It does but not as a big deal event ala say Reddit. In fact, I think San Francisco GAF meets up occasionally as well as LA GAF. Not sure about other areas of California. It depends on the area but I would say if there any GAF members in your neck of the woods, propose a meet up and shoot some PM's to organize something.

It's been pretty fun meeting GAF members for the most part and swapping stories in person about threads and whatnot. You never know who you're going to meet as I always say since they tend to be so different than their online persona if they have one.

I'm interested, but is it the bare burger in queens or on 34th street?

Yeah meetups are a blast. I got invited to go to a Reddit one this week even though I'm not affiliated with Reddit. Judging by what 47 has said, they're not GAF meetups, but they seem interesting. Especially since a new friend has organized a weekly meetup at Peculiar Pub on Tuesdays.

I'm really excited about these two meets. It's going to be great to see the regulars as well as the new guys. I'm always excited to meet new people.

I'll annouce the place on the 12th in a day or two

Okay. I'm likely going to be super late. A good friend of mine is moving soon. She found out a few weeks ago and is hosting a last hurrah at Down the Hatch that night. I'll be heading there first before meeting with you all.

The place is still TBA so do keep an eye on the thread. However, if it were to be at Bare Burger, then it would probably be at the latter location to make it convenient for everyone as well for old time's sake. I wouldn't mind going out to Queens to get to know new areas though.

FYI for the uninitiated: 47=number47 so we're clear. He's a regular lurker extraordinaire who may or may not be an appearance for this month's outings. Reddit meet ups have always fascinated me because it happens every week and then some with micro Reddit sub-meet ups of other groups such as the OkCupid. I remember ex GAF member Houston3000 mentioned attending a crap ton of Reddit meet ups as I saw him in pictures of the events.

As for the local NeoGAF notebook project, I'll sleep on it for a few days but will set a reminder so I don't forget. If people are serious about it, then I propose acquiring a Strathmore hard cover sketchbook ala the one that's currently in the national/international NeoGAF notebook. It'll be a fun little project to do.

UPDATE: Location for December 12th mini meetup!

jRS7i8gl.jpg

Pocha 32, 15 West 32nd Street 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001
Yelp Link

It's a restaurant in K-Town that looks pretty neat! Watermelon soju sounds delicious too ;3

We are looking to meet up there at 7pm, since I heard it gets crowded and I want to make sure we all have space :)

If you have any concerns please PM me.

OMFG I LOVE Down the Hatch! Maybe we'll meet you there afterwards........

What time is the meetup scheduled to start? That's not far from where I work-- maybe I'll be able to swing by.

EDIT: Missed the start time. Not sure I can make it. If there's any pre-gathering, maybe I can hit that up. I've got a seven month old-- hard to get away in the evenings at the moment!

My wallet has taken a beating this week so I'm on a bit of a tight budget to be spending it on fun. Definitely will be in school getting some work done around 4PM for a final project so depending on how much I get done in 3 hours, *might* show up depending on the time. Even then I'll be fashionably late as it's typical of me.

Otherwise, I'll be seeing the rest of you on the 20th and lurking. It looks like a nice place for sure. I'm anticipating seeing a few drunk posts with the mention of watermelon soju. ;p

Damn, I'm going to be in town the weekend of the 27th.

Gotta catch that BC/Penn State game at Yankee stadium. Have fun everyone.

No problem, stuff happens. Do have fun in the city! I reapplied as an Enforcer to work at PAX East so it might be Boston redux for another year of fun. Still TBD on where I'll be staying at in the city for another few weeks.

On another note, I got to thinking that there's a burlesque show happening around the city that day (the 20th). Problem? It's $20 for the entrance and runs for about two hours so I'll leave the idea on the table. Link: http://www.slipperroom.com/event/724285-mr-choades-holiday-on-thin-new-york/

Eh, probably won't be able to make the mini-meetup. Fridays are a little tight for me. Chances are good I'd be in the big meetup.

Ah the slipper room. My friends took me there for my birthday. That night's theme was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It was a very interesting night. I recommend. It's less about scantily clad women and more about having fun.

That sounds incredibly intriguing. I've never been to a burlesque show before so I'm compelled to see at least one or two in my life. I can see the party getting split between show peeps and bar peeps. Fun being the emphasis is a damn good thing.

I'm in school now but think I'm gonna ultimately sit this one out to focus on getting these art works done. I've been at the first one alone for about 2 hours already. Looking forward to seeing some pics and/or drunk posts. Have fun duders.

Damn just saw this thread for the first time. Is the meet up next week still happening?

It's definitely a go-go no matter what unless some crazy blizzard befalls upon the east coast next weekend in which case (or heaven forbid I suddenly get ill), it'll be postponed to January. Doubt that will be the case since mother nature has been pretty kind to the city this year so far. Nonetheless, I'll be watching the weather throughout the week and making a few updates when I can. I definitely won't be blowing a hole through my wallet on this outing that's for sure!

Honestly, I forgot that we're a week away since I'm preoccupied with school stuff. That being said, here's the obligatory it's coming image.

Have a nice weekend folks. Questions, comments, concerns, or complaints about the US being a butt nation? Fire away.

Thanks to those that made it on Friday :) Korean food was delicious, and going to Down the Hatch to meet Mully ended the night real well!

Ladies and gentleman, I present this month's banner which I've added to the OP:

Source of the picture came from this link: http://www.123rf.com/similar-model/6927334/8.html by way of one the most hilarious threads this year featuring Harold, the awkward stock photo old man which I highly recommend checking out if you've been having a bad/boring day: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=830548

As for other updates while I'm procrastinating on getting final art stuff done, the weather conditions for the weekend are looking good so far and I'm slowly thinking about what kind of stuff to pack into the mystery package which is yet to be assembled. Still don't know what would be at stake to win the fabulous package at the moment so I'll sleep on it for another day or 2. Thinking about a fighting game tournament at the bar. Lastly, if people want to be there earlier to pre-game, I'll suggest an early time of 7PM at a TBD bar in the area. That is all for now.

Might not be able to make it now. GAF meetups tend to empty the bank account and I'm pretty low on funds considering I have to get a few more gifts for me niece and brother-in-law.
