"Adoptions" background info...


  • The Magnitsky Act, formally known as the Russia and Moldova Jackson–Vanik Repeal and Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012, is a bipartisan bill passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Obama in November–December 2012, intending to punish Russian officials who were thought to be responsible for the death of Sergei Magnitsky by prohibiting their entrance to the United States and their use of its banking system.
  • In response to the adoption of the Magnitsky Act, the Russian government denied Americans adoption of Russian children, issued a list of US officials prohibited from entering Russia, and posthumously convicted Magnitsky as guilty.

Russia keeps talking about 'adoptions' because for Russia's stance on adoptions to change the US will likely have to remove the Magnitsky Act sanctions. Russia doesn't care about adoptions it's just their veiled way of saying remove the financial sanctions.

I've no doubt that Trump Jr was too dumb to grasp this at this earlier meeting with the Russians and didn't follow their train of thought. So it likely prevented him incriminating himself further.

If Comrade Trump has been discussing 'adoptions' in private meetings with Putin then there's likely much more dirty laundry to be aired that we don't even know about yet. No wonder Trump is getting hot under the collar about his financial interests and actions being held up to more scrutiny.

The audio is more bizarre than the text because his tone isn't just that recusal is unfair to the president (bizarre as hell and obstruction of justice-y) but that the job itself was given to Sessions as quid pro quo and that further reciprocation was expected.

Also surprised he gave so much info to a paper he sees as attacking him and is "failing"...

That was just Trump projecting again. What he really means is that his OWN office is rife with conflicts of interest.
 
I genuinely think that Trump doesn't really understand how different it is to run a government over a private corporation. He has no regards to laws, diplomatic traditions, and most importantly to government protocol. He is way over his head here. He basically assumes that people are investigating him out of self interest or as a job opportunity(hence why he threatened Comey, and also Mueller job security). He assumes that if he hires people for a government position, they would just let everything slide. He also assumes that he is above the law of the land. Someone needs to explain this to him every time he is about to embarrass himself and this country.
 
Mr. Trump said Mr. Mueller was running an office rife with conflicts of interest and warned that investigators would cross a red line if they delve into Trump family finances unrelated to Russia.

Americans, you need to be protesting in the streets day and night. No more red lines. No more "If he fires Mueller..." or "If he puts his children in power..."

He has already done so much to delegitimize your democracy. The great atrocities of the world didn't happen all at once. They happened because good people waited too long to act, always telling themselves "If this next line is crossed, then I'll do something." He has crossed so many lines already.

Get up. Get out there.

It's pretty well known that he really craves the approval and attention of the New York Times. It's the 'elite' paper, and all Trump has ever really wanted to do was be adored by the 'elites.'

Yes. And he shouldn't be allowed to pick an AG if Sessions resigns or is fired. (If Sessions does resign, the new AG should probably also promise to recuse from the Russia investigation.) I don't know how anyone can trust Trump with regards to the DOJ. Honestly Congress should reup the independent counsel statute and move the investigation over there.
