“Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Mr. Trump said.

Is 'adoptions' code-word for something else? o___O
This is the second Russian based meeting we know of where a Trump was involved that talked about this.

"Adoptions" background info...

  • The Magnitsky Act, formally known as the Russia and Moldova Jackson–Vanik Repeal and Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012, is a bipartisan bill passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Obama in November–December 2012, intending to punish Russian officials who were thought to be responsible for the death of Sergei Magnitsky by prohibiting their entrance to the United States and their use of its banking system.
  • In response to the adoption of the Magnitsky Act, the Russian government denied Americans adoption of Russian children, issued a list of US officials prohibited from entering Russia, and posthumously convicted Magnitsky as guilty.

Russia keeps talking about 'adoptions' because for Russia's stance on adoptions to change the US will likely have to remove the Magnitsky Act sanctions. Russia doesn't care about adoptions it's just their veiled way of saying remove the financial sanctions.

I've no doubt that Trump Jr was too dumb to grasp this at this earlier meeting with the Russians and didn't follow their train of thought. So it likely prevented him incriminating himself further.

If Comrade Trump has been discussing 'adoptions' in private meetings with Putin then there's likely much more dirty laundry to be aired that we don't even know about yet. No wonder Trump is getting hot under the collar about his financial interests and actions being held up to more scrutiny.

If they see a better future for the party with Pence as the president, absolutely. The republican party as a whole will collapse if they keep not giving a shit about moderates and old garde republicans. In the end the only supporters they'll have left are the die hard trumpist, but they actually hate most republican politicians and will leave/support the next alt-right douchebag as soon as Trump does.

They don't, because there's not.

Well can't wait to see how they spin this.

It is 2017 and those investigating the Russian meddling in the US-elections have to fear repercussions by the US-President more than those who are responsible for the meddling.

Trump's gonna adopt a Russian kid to get his flagging approval ratings up. Kinda like how Mr. Drummond adopted Sam on Diff'rent Strokes.

“Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Mr. Trump said.

It's like he was expecting his administration to be psychics or something.

He was just expecting him to stay strong and cover it up.

The audio is more bizarre than the text because his tone isn't just that recusal is unfair to the president (bizarre as hell and obstruction of justice-y) but that the job itself was given to Sessions as quid pro quo and that further reciprocation was expected.

Man that audio in the article makes it even more to the point.

Also surprised he gave so much info to a paper he sees as attacking him and is "failing"...

Since when is having some connection with a different political party a "conflict of interest"? By Trump's definition, all decision-makers in this investigation should be, should always have been, and should only have relationships with Republicans.
That was just Trump projecting again. What he really means is that his OWN office is rife with conflicts of interest.

I genuinely think that Trump doesn't really understand how different it is to run a government over a private corporation. He has no regards to laws, diplomatic traditions, and most importantly to government protocol. He is way over his head here. He basically assumes that people are investigating him out of self interest or as a job opportunity(hence why he threatened Comey, and also Mueller job security). He assumes that if he hires people for a government position, they would just let everything slide. He also assumes that he is above the law of the land. Someone needs to explain this to him every time he is about to embarrass himself and this country.

Mr. Trump said Mr. Mueller was running an office rife with conflicts of interest and warned that investigators would cross a red line if they delve into Trump family finances unrelated to Russia.

"I'm completely innocent of drug possession, but don't you dare go looking in the broom closet for any dead bodies."

So he had a meeting with Putin where he discussed sanctions without his own translator?

I'm sure Trump came out on top there. Also I love how he inadvertently admits to things by trying to lie about it.

Americans, you need to be protesting in the streets day and night. No more red lines. No more "If he fires Mueller..." or "If he puts his children in power..."

He has already done so much to delegitimize your democracy. The great atrocities of the world didn't happen all at once. They happened because good people waited too long to act, always telling themselves "If this next line is crossed, then I'll do something." He has crossed so many lines already.

Get up. Get out there.

It's pretty well known that he really craves the approval and attention of the New York Times. It's the 'elite' paper, and all Trump has ever really wanted to do was be adored by the 'elites.'

Ah yes, Deutsche Bank.

Russia connections you say...?

Another piece of the jigsaw falls into place.

If only someone with immense political influence and power would remove those Magnitsky Act sanctions to make international money laundering easier. Do we know anyone that could help with this?

Partial transcript is up. NYT: Excerpts From The Times’s Interview With Trump
SCHMIDT: Last thing, if Mueller was looking at your finances and your family finances, unrelated to Russia — is that a red line?

HABERMAN: Would that be a breach of what his actual charge is?

TRUMP: I would say yeah. I would say yes. By the way, I would say, I don’t — I don’t — I mean, it’s possible there’s a condo or something, so, you know, I sell a lot of condo units, and somebody from Russia buys a condo, who knows? I don’t make money from Russia. In fact, I put out a letter saying that I don’t make — from one of the most highly respected law firms, accounting firms. I don’t have buildings in Russia. They said I own buildings in Russia. I don’t. They said I made money from Russia. I don’t. It’s not my thing. I don’t, I don’t do that. Over the years, I’ve looked at maybe doing a deal in Russia, but I never did one. Other than I held the Miss Universe pageant there eight, nine years [crosstalk].

SCHMIDT: But if he was outside that lane, would that mean he’d have to go?

[crosstalk]

HABERMAN: Would you consider——

TRUMP: No, I think that’s a violation. Look, this is about Russia. So I think if he wants to go, my finances are extremely good, my company is an unbelievably successful company. And actually, when I do my filings, peoples say, “Man.” People have no idea how successful this is. It’s a great company. But I don’t even think about the company anymore. I think about this. ’Cause one thing, when you do this, companies seem very trivial. O.K.? I really mean that. They seem very trivial. But I have no income from Russia. I don’t do business with Russia. The gentleman that you mentioned, with his son, two nice people. But basically, they brought the Miss Universe pageant to Russia to open up, you know, one of their jobs. Perhaps the convention center where it was held. It was a nice evening, and I left. I left, you know, I left Moscow. It wasn’t Moscow, it was outside of Moscow.

HABERMAN: Would you fire Mueller if he went outside of certain parameters of what his charge is? [crosstalk]

SCHMIDT: What would you do?

[crosstalk]

TRUMP: I can’t, I can’t answer that question because I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Haha Sessions should have told him he was going to recuse himself so he could have picked someone else! Wow!

Simply unbelievable. The guy simply has no integrity and doesn't care about the integrity of the Presidency.

Such a worthless, worthless human being.

Says Comey was holding the dossier over him as leverage. ...Yet insists that the dossier is garbage...but still fires Comey.

....Hmm.

Maddow just highlighted this part of the transcript:
TRUMP: And nothing was changed other than Richard Nixon came along. And when Nixon came along [inaudible] was pretty brutal, and out of courtesy, the F.B.I. started reporting to the Department of Justice. But there was nothing official, there was nothing from Congress. There was nothing — anything. But the F.B.I. person really reports directly to the president of the United States, which is interesting. You know, which is interesting. And I think we’re going to have a great new F.B.I. director.

A President under FBI investigation should never be allowed to pick a replacement. Leave the acting director in.
Yes. And he shouldn't be allowed to pick an AG if Sessions resigns or is fired. (If Sessions does resign, the new AG should probably also promise to recuse from the Russia investigation.) I don't know how anyone can trust Trump with regards to the DOJ. Honestly Congress should reup the independent counsel statute and move the investigation over there.
