NYT: In Interview, Trump Expresses Anger at Sessions and Comey, and Warns Mueller

No, he gives these interviews because he's a moron and needs attention. He has no 'masterplan'.

I'm definitely not a "4D chess" guy but this same pattern keeps playing out. Trump gives incredulous interview to media organization he claims is "fake news" -> proceeds to do exactly the incredulous thing that he lays out in interview -> congressional Republicans handwave.

Let's see if it goes differently this time.

I think there's a difference between a plan and not having any reservations about this because you know you won't be punished. Even with the investigation, Trump's probably more worried about stuff coming out into the public than he is about facing consequences.

I mean I expect trump to either fire mueller this friday or wednesday night after jrs testimony

He doesn't actually have the ability to fire him directly. He'll have to fire Rosenstein, most likely fire Sessions and then promote someone within the Justice department that will fire Mueller. I don't expect a single raised eyebrow from the Republican leadership either if he does it.
senate repubs will raise there eye brows.

Several republicans, mostly in the senate have repeatedly said they feel safe and assured with mueller, with a few targeted responses towards the white house. seemingly implying to not fuck with mueller
I'll believe it when I see it. So far the House and Senate Republicans have folded up like deck chairs every time Trump says "Boo!".

When Nixon did the Saturday night massacre it was a turning point for the republican leaders mainly because they got deluged with letters that were 16 to 1 against what he did.

If trump does this and the right wing media machine revs up and the base doesn't shift much against him then GOP will find a way to just be mildly concerned.

Just hoping mueller has a backup for what he had found that can be leaked. If we are going to hell under trump at least everyone should know what illegal acts a good chunk of Americans have agreed to allow.

Sessions days are numbered, I'm rather sure about it.

His base already ate up Sessions being a traitor to their supremacy leader. We are halfway there.

Exactly, and these modern day Republicans don't even seem to have an ounce of the moral compass 70s Era Republicans had. Don't expect a single thing from them.
I mean, barring someone like LePage or Giuliani taking his place, getting rid of Sessions is a good thing.
I don't know about LePage but Giuliani is every bit as racist and unhinged as Sessions. He's only an upgrade if you're a weed smoker and barely even then.

The real hidden gem of the interview is that he thinks health insurance costs only $12 a year. You have to go to the interview excerpts linked in the article to see it. Guy is completely delusional.

Yeah, I'm not sure if he knows what health insurance is. He might be confusing it with the Gerber baby fund.

Wait what?
HABERMAN: That’s been the thing for four years. When you win an entitlement, you can’t take it back.

TRUMP: But what it does, Maggie, it means it gets tougher and tougher. As they get something, it gets tougher. Because politically, you can’t give it away. So pre-existing conditions are a tough deal. Because you are basically saying from the moment the insurance, you’re 21 years old, you start working and you’re paying $12 a year for insurance, and by the time you’re 70, you get a nice plan. Here’s something where you walk up and say, “I want my insurance.” It’s a very tough deal, but it is something that we’re doing a good job of.

HABERMAN: Am I wrong in thinking — I’ve talked to you a bunch of times about this over the last couple years, but you are generally of the view that people should have health care, right? I mean, I think that you come at it from the view of …

TRUMP: Yes, yes. [garbled]

That suddenly explains everything. If it did cost $12 a year then health issuance reform would be as easy as Trump said it would be :/

Unless he shitcans Sessions and then a new AG could.

Scary thought, but then again, Sessions would be gone.
It'd take a while to find someone and get them confirmed. Iirc, Trump can simply sign an executive order dismantling the Special Counsel rules since it's not a law passed by Congress. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried that and whoever wrote the order screwed up the language in it somehow.

It's probably been said already but holy shit how does Sessions work for this guy? Session's is basically the main one keeping his immigration ban alive yet he still isn't shit to Trump. Some guys just enjoy bootlicking I suppose.

That would be immediately challengeable in court and we know how those things have gone for Trump.

It would be far easier for him to do what Nixon did and just keep firing and promoting within the Justice Dept. until he finds someone to do the deed.

Can someone ask Trump the difference between Health Insurance and Life Insurance?
Oh my god, could that actually be it? He's been so sheltered his entire life so it's possible that he doesn't understand the distinction.

@blakehounshell
So this is weird, huh? Trump seems to suggest here that he'd heard about the Trump Jr. meeting, then says he hadn't.

DFJJpzJWAAEBXTZ.jpg

I mean, he says clear as day that he knew about the meeting.

I mean yeah but he also contradicts himself several times in that exchange. Its crazy how much his dumbassedness seems to protect him when he says stupid shit.

As Schiff already threatened, all they have to do is re-pass the expired watergate-era independent counsel legislation and appoint Mueller as the prosecutor. Trump can grand stand all he wants, he does not want to fire Mueller and lose all oversight he has over this investigation.

Man every day Trump shows how out of touch he is with the common person.

A few months before the election I asked one of my Trump supporting co-workers what they thought made him qualified to be President. His response was that Trump is a self made man that pulled himself up by his own bootstraps (I'm paraphrasing here for effect but that's what he meant). I responded to him that Trump was born rich and would be richer had he just left his inheritance in the bank but I got immediately told that I didn't know what I was talking about. I'm from NYC and have know about Trump since I was a kid and this guy is from NC and only knows about him from The Apprentice and Fox News.

The common Republican just projects onto Trump what they want him to be whether that is a self made man or a competent President.

Schiff can't pass anything solo and I wouldn't place bets on the Republicans doing anything more than ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Republicans would have to go along with this plan and there’s a good chance that they wouldn’t.

This. Fire Mueller. See how that shit works out.

Uh. I think you guys are too optimistic that the republicans will do anything to trump. Sure it looks bad but they'll ignore it like everything else. He's done so many other things that are politically suicide and nothing has happened I'm curious why people think this would do anything other than look bad.

Yeah, I just worry that Schiff was a touch optimistic. The House kept finding ways to not let the sanctions bill through, even with huge bipartisan support there's ways to kill bills. Ryan would have to really stick his neck out to do it though.

I feel it would be more likely in the Senate than the House.

http://www.thepoke.co.uk/2017/07/20...-speak-english-two-hours-avoid-talking-trump/
So there’s a theory doing the rounds that the Japanese president Shinzo Abe’s wife pretended not to speak English for nearly two hour so she could avoid talking to Donald Trump.

How did this come about? First, here’s Trump talking about a dinner with fellow world leaders and their partners at the G20 summit, in an interview with the New York Times.

Shinzo Abe’s wife, Akie Abe, is a former big cheese in the world’s largest advertising company. Here she is delivering a keynote address. In English.

Wait, what??? In English?

Maybe something was lost in translation.

Is saying someone is "from Baltimore" a new euphemism for saying someone is (((Jewish))) that I'm unaware of?

TRUMP: So he recuses himself. I then end up with a second man, who’s a deputy.

HABERMAN: Rosenstein.

TRUMP: Who is he? And Jeff hardly knew. He’s from Baltimore.

TRUMP: Yeah, what Jeff Sessions did was he recused himself right after, right after he became attorney general. And I said, “Why didn’t you tell me this before?” I would have — then I said, “Who’s your deputy?” So his deputy he hardly knew, and that’s Rosenstein, Rod Rosenstein, who is from Baltimore. There are very few Republicans in Baltimore, if any. So, he’s from Baltimore.

Maybe but I feel that would be suicide for whoever is complicit with it.
We said the same about Comey and he is still president.

Yeah and nothing came out of firing Comey, right?

I've been puzzling over this portion, and I think he's confusing health insurance with life insurance, which is something he's done before.
