Octavia Butler has a twisted imagination.

I've gotten through 2 and a half books of hers. She's creative as hell, but in the worlds she creates humanity is pretty much fukked. Whether it's a not-too-distant future where disproportionate wealth has CRUSHED the US. To a creature that feeds on souls. Humans are being litereally fukked into extinction by aliens. Or having to deal with a creature that A. Feeds on life, B. Can kill with a thought, C. Is immortal and D. Indestructible.

Anyone else a fan? Any particular works to check out?

PS. Doro may be THE baddest villain/monster of all time. And I honestly couldn't imagine his character being portrayed correctly on film.

The ones I've read are Parable of The Sower and Wild Seed. I'm currently reading Adulthood Rites. Another one that I've misplaced is Parable of the Talent. I believe it's about a future America where the country is ruled by religious fundamentalists who enslave nonbelievers.

She's a black woman. She writes scifi/fantasy and her background def. influences her work.
