October Wrasslin' |strobogo Recap OT| This title is held in abeyance

Main show's starting now, up first the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Title Match with Forever Hooligans defending against TAKA & Taichi.

It makes a lot of sense to me that Bootaaay is so into NJPW since the NAZIS were bros with the IJA.

Dat Axis of Evil.

Love the use of cards in the match graphics. Did the second part of Nakamura opening those get translated?

I don't think it ever did, unfortunately.

Aiii

So not worth it
So, Alvarez and Meltzer were talking about the latest JR blog, it appears he signed his release, because the guy puts in some jabs.

Heading to New York City in a few days to begin some potentially viable meetings that could impact what I will be doing in 2014 at least to some degree.

I'm excited to be meeting new people with fresh ideas who genuinely want to work with me in a relationship based on honesty, respect and professionalism.

The Q&A's here are updated as of Sunday morning Oklahoma time.

Crunch time for WWE as it relates to producing a compelling Monday Night Raw that sells the HIAC PPV which will be the 2nd, I think, PPV of the billing cycle for the company.

With the overall lack of main event depth in WWE these days, now would be the perfect time to get someone on a roll...attempt to get them hot and see if the individual can connect with the audience. One can always audible out of it but this matter can't be determined in a few weeks no matter how sage like some feel that they may be in determining such.

It's a process that is largely determined by the live audience's reaction over time.

All sports, or entertainment, fans want to support the 'stars' and 'stars,' IE heroes, and all have similar traits. They win more than they lose, they somehow eventually overcome when the odds are the greatest against them and they never quit. All these traits endears them to the audience. Fans can identify with winning. Loses become significant moments and not every other week occurrences.

50/50 booking helps NO one.

Those trying to re-invent the "booking" wheel and who refuse or simply ignore basic psychology and human emotions are foolish or naive or...gasp... egomaniacal.

Box office receipts and PPV numbers should convince any one who professes that the fine line between good and evil need not exist.

Happy belated birthday to Dusty Rhodes who turned 68 on Saturday....the same day that I celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary with my wife Jan.
I still say that Dream and Dick Murdoch has one of the greatest tag teams of all time and if you get the chance to watch a good sampling of their work on You Tube, etc jump on it.

Dusty was great to work for an announcer when he was the booker because he would tell you his 'vision' and then allow his broadcasters to go out and put Dream's vision in the announcer's words. Some of my best work was in Crockett's NWA and on TBS because being over produced wasn't an issue.

Don't get me wrong, every talent needs direction and to be produced to some degree but producing talents is an art and all talents can't be produced a like.

To those that have asked and to those who have offered, I have zero interest in doing the seemingly, obligatory "Shoot" interview. No thanks.

Plywood

NeoGAF's smiling token!
Also in terms of access to porn. There was a time when the lingerie section of the Sears catalog was good enough for me. I bet at the same age, Plywood was watching hardcore ATM on broadband.

No wonder he knows the name of every adult film actress.
Which age? You didn't mention an age.
Plywood must be a Cena fan
Thuganomics Cena was best Cena, but no I was an Eddie and Rey mark.

Wasnt this supposed to be Forever Hooligans vs Timesplitters? What happened? I had a snarky comment about never seeing that match before

Shelley injured his back, unfortunately, so Time Splitters had to pull out of the match.

I love how Koslov asks the audience to respectfully stand for the Russian national anthem and they actually do it, lol.

Some interesting teams in there

Yeah, just saw that - Naito/Sombra should be a fun team. Not sure if TenKoji will be competing though, as Kojima separated his shoulder against Okada.

Also, Valiente is on the next tour, apparently.

So Watanabe is the next young lion going on his excursion? Seeing him just makes me want Namajuage to come back to NJPW

This should be a fun match, looking forward to seeing how Watanabe does in what'll most likely be his last match as a young lion.

Interesting. Cubsfan said someone new was going to japan, but Valiente was on a tour earlier in his career, where did you get that from?

Someone posted it on the Observer board, no idea where they found it out.

Yeah, Watanabe's headed to the US for a year. Should do him a lot of good, he's probably my favourite of this current crop of young lions. And yeah, Namajuage should be due back soon, hopefully.

Weird. Cubsfan definitely knows and his words were that it would be the first international experience for him. No idea if shows beforehand count as experience though compared to a tour

I need my favorite demon running around in a NJPW ring now! They're teasing a tag title program for him so if he loses it he'll be back by the Tokyo Dome show

Aw yiss, Kota Ibushi time. And, bonus Honma.

Also, Makabe should just change his theme. They're never going to be able to pay the international broadcast rights for Immigrant Song.

Immigrant Song seems like a pretty awesome entrance theme. I hadn't even thought about it before.

I forgot how often TNA did ladder matches in the Asylum days. Wiki shows they did TEN in the first 2 years. It looks like in the 10 years of TNA, only one had no ladder matches, which was 2005. Further more, TNA has had more ladder matches in 10 years than WWE has had in nearly 20. Just barely, but still. I also remembered that period in 2002 where it felt like WWE ran a ladder match or cage match every other month. But still, WWE has had a guarendamnteed ladder match or two per year for the last few years, plus 15 years before that, and TNA still has more ladder matches.

TNA even did REVERSE LADDER MATCHES.

Which is only slightly less awful than a reverse battle royal.

How about a reverse lumberjack match where a bunch of guys are in the ring and the two guys fighting are outside?

Reverse last man standing: The first guy on his feet for a 10 count loses

Throw them into the ring so they can get beat up...and thrown back out of the the ring???

BOOK IT.

EDIT: SECOND IDEA IS EVEN BETTER!

King of the Mountain has to be the dumbest gimmick match to not come from a coke rampage in WCCW/Memphis/death match promotions. Definitely the worst new gimmick match in the last 12 years or so. Probably before that. 49ers match was pretty ridiculous (a FOUR pole match!), but at least it was a one off thing. KOTM became TNA's signature gimmick match for 5 years.

The four pole match also evolved into a TNA staple sort of...Hey I won this box...with a pink slip in it...

EDIT: Come to think of it no longer working for TNA might be the best prize of them all.

Following the death of Chris Candido TNA refused to pay Tammy Sytch the money they had owed him. While this is technically legal because they were not officially married, Terry Taylor sent her a ham dinner as a condolence gift.

You gotta be shitting me.

I clicked on the last page of the "Awesome Fan Art" thread by mistake, and thought I was in the right thread for a while...

We really doi post some shit in here

Yeah, that match rocked. Much better than their first encounter, that finishing stretch was excellent.

Looks like it'll be The Gracies vs Nagata & Sakuraba at the Tokyo Dome, which should be pretty interesting.
