Thanks for the info.
For what it is worth, I have tried 7 cables from different manufactures on my end and I have had no issues with any of them. USB A to USB C or USB C to USB C they all work.

If you are looking for a cheap cable you can order today you can grab an Anker 6ft (the 10ft is out of stock) for about $11.

I wonder what the price will be on black friday. I'm very close to pulling the trigger.

Is anyone who owns a quest here bothered by the 72hz? I have no chance of trying the quest beforehand and I'm worried that it's noticable low.
I used to own the original vive and the 90hz on that were good.

Officially only Rift S gets black friday discount to $350, Quest just gets the offer for $30 worth of software with every purchase in the form of the Star Wars Vader Immortal trilogy of episodes.

If you mainly want PC VR games I'd say still go for S instead, Quest is great for the portability and a small amount of exclusives (Explore VR, Lambda1VR for now) or game ports that are actually good and thus better with no cables and bonus PC tethering/game support.

Apparently my USB 3 isn't the right spec for Oculus Link. I'm unable to play using a variety of cables. Been thinking about upgrading my 2013 rig, but time you do MB, CPU, and RAM it isn't cheap.

You could get a USB 3 x-amountof-ports PCI-e card. That's what I had to do to be able to use the original Oculus Rift. They recommended a 5-port Inateck card, I got the 4-port version which is just enough to hold all of Rift cables by itself (with 3rd sensor extra) for $20 or whatever it was then.

But wait for the software to be out of beta and for people to be able to recommend the best cables and usb cards for best results (many currently recommend like 3m cables, that's not enough to play PC VR comfortably for standing VR games, you need at least 5m like the official (pricey) will be.

Is this thing worth it? I already have the PSVR, should I just stick to it? I also saw the GO on sale. Is Quest better?

Quest is better than Go. I've never tried PSVR so i have no way to compare but i love the Quest. Just being able to move around freely is amazing. With link you can now use it as a Rift and you could already use it with a pc wirelessly if you buy Virtual Desktop and use Sidequest. I doubt the Quest games can match what's on PSVR though the creative apps like Gravity Sketch, Kingspray, Tiltbrush and SculpVR are amazing. With link, you have access to the PCVR though but you lose the mobility of not being tethered. You can do it over wifi as mentioned previously but it depends on your setup, how far you are from your router etc. Hopefully someone with both can chime in

No sales, you just get the Vader trilogy of episodes free. Rift S is on ~50 off sale.
There is definitely a black friday sale on the danish version of the Quest store. Not a great one but a sale nonetheless

EDIT
I can't read

Make sure you check the actual store's "on sale" section, not just the stupid bundles on the front page, lots of stuff are on, ie, 50% off Onward (I know it's crossplay with Steam but not sure how/if you can add Steam friends to your list if on Oculus). Well, Onward is PC/Rift side, just an example.

I did check the Quest store but sadly i own everything that i'm interested in and that's on sale. I hadn't considered the Rift store since I haven't got a link setup yet but if there are some great sales i guess i might as well look into it

Drop Dead is the closest thing to a real lightgun shooter if you don't have that. I played it on PC but it started life on Go and then got upgraded to Quest and it's on sale. It's still not nearly as good as something like The House of the Dead 2 & 3 (but what is?), or even as speedy/tight as Pistol Whip with deadeye on, but yeah, not bad.

If I still had a gaming PC, I think this is the way I'd go. I didn't realize Quest could connect to a PC. I thought it was just for lower requirement games like Beat Saber, Superhot, etc.

If you can play Half-Life and Asgard's Wrath on this, I'd highly recommend picking one up. Assuming you have a gaming PC.

So, Death Lap, Arizona Sunshine, The Climb, have all released on Quest recently (today, some of these, lol) but I posted about most of that on the PC VR thread instead. But this is interesting news, maybe future Quest iterations would utilize some/all of these capabilities.
Probably not the most top of the line stuff of whatever year the next Quest comes of course if it's meant to be a relatively/somewhat affordable device like the current Quest model is for its own time but things are going to move forward eventually, that much is a given :)

With tonight’s update, we’re also introducing 360° and 90° levels—custom engineered gameplay modes that open up the playing field and radically change the game. We’ve got dozens of 360° and 90° levels available on both Oculus Quest and the Rift Platform, with more to come in the months ahead. They span all five difficulty settings and are free when you own the corresponding music pack.

Oculus QUEST: https://sdq.st/a-467
Oculus RIFT/RIFT S: https://casual-vr.com/installer_terminus_demo_one.exe

Edit: I just tried that Terminus alpha/demo thingie. It's pretty well done all things considered. The fov seems to be a tad off for Rift so there's some distortion, but other than that it looks fairly decent, the interactions with things like doors, drawers and cupboards is actually rather intuitive and natural, but the usable held objects can feel off without the proper animation/hand pose and what not, I guess that stuff is early still, especially the axe. The phone is damn cool though with an AR style interface. I turned the game off after the first enemies I avoided by ducking behind a kiosk thing with a cash register, I didn't want to try and get past them or see if they'd return, lol. Next time. Anyway, this is a project to watch if they get to make it into a full game as their intent is, there's a solid base here already. I didn't even mind there's no artificial turning method included, just your physical movement, though I'd hope they will include stick turning later on too.

btw, how are early adopters in this thread feeling about the upgraded Quest coming just 1 year after?

why, too many minigames?

and will they really accept a return all greasy and with scratched lenses?
Jesus, didn't take long for the console wars to start in VR circles. What is your problem with the Quest anyway? because it is selling so well?

just asking why are they selling theirs

personally, not a fan of minigames and fitness, so to me that would be valid enough reason

I am thinking about returning my quest i am still in the window to return it. Yay european laws
My take is he is toying with the idea of returning it and getting the upgrade not because he thinks Quest is shit. Correct me if I am wrong Spukc Spukc

Which comes across as salty and childish imo, surely you're better than that after having to defend VR to all the "VR is dead" crowd.

As for the mini games comment, lets just list a few shall we?

Onward - Native, :messenger_winking:
Beat Saber Native - Modable with thousands of extra songs,
SuperHot Native,
Half Life Alyx - Modable with extra levels,
Skyrim - Modable,
In Death Unchained - Native,
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice,
Fallout 4 VR,
No Mans Sky - Modable,
Project Cars 1 and 2 - Modable,
Assetto Corsa - Modable,
Doom 3,
Alien Isolation,
Brutal Doom Native port,
Half Life 1 Native port,
Pavlov - Native,
Trover saves the universe - Native,
Robo Recall - Native,
Echo VR - Native,
Pokerstars VR - Native, (one of my faves)
Pistol Whip - Native,
Big Screen VR - Native (Rent 3D films and watch them with friends in a virtual cinema)
Elite Dangerous,
GTA V Modded,
Boneworks,
Minecraft,
Lone Echo,
Asgard's Wrath,
Walking Dead saints and sinners,

and many many more.

I will agree that Quest is lacking in some AAA native titles but its been a year, Quest needs time to build that library dude.

In the mean time you are ignoring one of the best factors for owning a Quest, Native Wireless 6DOF PCVR with roomscale and analogue controllers, that is a big draw. (Just because PSVR can play games without them doesn't mean you want to play them without, its like playing a game with one hand tied behind your back after playing with them) I can play all PCVR games wirelessly (or wired) on my Quest. This includes all flat screen PC games converted to VR (Doom 3, Alien Isolation etc) Tons of native indie games free on Side Quest, Emulators in VR, Massive amounts of Porn in VR ETC.

Quest is an enthusiasts dream.

Disclaimer.
Just because I talked shit about the PSVR controllers does not mean I am hating on the PSVR, I love PSVR, I am just not going to fanboy over it.

The big problem with vr headsets and mostly with quest is how short life span it has. It's only a year old and it's not long enough for a platform to grow... but it will be replaced by new quest before it matures

Is it not just a smaller lighter cheaper version? an updated Quest does not mean Quest 1 is obsolete. People are still using the original Vive and Oculus CV1 even though there are newer headsets released. VR tech is growing fast and I for one am happy that they are throwing money at it.

Let's see. If it's just a quest light and they will continue selling quest 1, then there is still hope. And I've just bought the damn thing and don't want it to become obsolete before it's cold enough to use the damn thing

I really don't think the popularity of the Quest has anything to do with pcvr at all - it's simply not its main audience. The Quest sold on the idea of not needing a costly pc to play VR and it struck a nerve with exactly those people who don't have one.

If that wasn't the case, there would be no need for native Quest ports like Onward or Rec Room.

and anyway, Onward is better than rhythm/fitness minigames like BS, but still just a casual multiplayer game - and despite all efforts, like RR it too seems to have performance issues. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of a standalone VR, just think the tech is not there yet...

An upgrade would not stop you from playing Wireless PCVR games, relax man :messenger_sunglasses:

IMO VR needs these big companies to throw tons of money at the tech to make it more accessable.

I'm more interested in the Quest because I can have my kids play it wireless not needing the beef of my PC and then when I want to play I can plug it in. I like the versatility.

It is a big draw trust me. Ask rofif rofif he sent his Rift S back to get a quest and part of that desicion was because Quest could do PCVR.

The tech IS there, I am using it, what is your experience with it?
