PlayStation's Showcase had nice stuff (Arizona Sunshine 2, Rem4ke VR shown, Crossfire: Sierra Squad to be on PSVR2 too, Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2, Beat Saber ported/upgraded to PSVR2 plus new content for it, more Synapse footage) but there are lots of releases & things today too.

I am so looking forward to gunman, all the extras/improvements they are adding look great. If they let you melee attack with the bow, going to be able to do some of that crazy stuff the movies do ;)

Yeah i read that earlier and I seriously don’t put much weight into a Bloomberg impression for VR

He goes to say it’s not a big improvement for optics but then that he could use his cell phone via AR? Doesn’t make any sense unless he looked at the big clock. Even Quest Pro would be difficult to read.

And it can’t be worse than Quest 2 for FOV and pixel sweet spot with pancake lenses.

Again, It’s Bloomberg I mean. Let’s wait for real VR enthusiasts impressions.

If you are not into AR then this doesn’t look much of an upgrade at all. Am I missing something.
It should be a decent upgrade with the pancake lenses and the self tracked controllers which you've already seen in use on the pro. They didn't seem to test it on traditional VR from what I could see in that article. June 1st they have a big meta event showing a bunch of upcoming VR/AR games/software so it should get a bit more clear then, hopefully.

Yeah. Forgot about the pancake lenses. Pity it’s still LCD with those horrible blacks. I hope they can improve on that.

Lucy Liu as The Pirate Queen's VA in some narrative adventure VR game. Weirdly cool get, fingers crossed for the rest of it.

Asgards Wrath 2 is pretty much confirmed for Quest standalone and to be at the show. If you're not familiar with, basically God of War in first person. Apparently it's a massive game too that looks unbelievably good. I'm guessing that's part of the reaction.

Great VR Direct, more new announcements than I expected and good selection of known games to showcase too. Now to hunt which new stuff aren't exclusive. Also eat my crow on thinking they wouldn't show the Quest 3 here, though technically it was revealed before so maybe I don't have to :p
I'll make into links the showcase, the two videos you need to login to watch anyway (age rating crap) and the Little Cities update video to keep the limit of 10 embeds and not exceed two posts.

To me, the most impressive reveal not based on hype (Attack on Titan/AC still without gameplay, Asgard's Wrath 2 has much to prove outside graphics after the original game's often amateur design) is Vampire: The Masquerade -Justice. It looks like some Thief/Dishonored shit. Fingers crossed 🤞

I imagine it's a bad day to launch or promote a VR game, everybody's all about Meta. Yet here we are (a couple of them were in the showcase, just go with it). Also, that's one hell of a tease/confirmation 👀

Some more stuff before Apple's zeitgeist.

Edit: zeitgeist cancelled. It's just a way to fill your space/life with Apple's ecosystem, you aren't getting next gen Alyx or Lone Echo on this. Maybe it will normalise wearing goggles or give ideas for OS/interfaces but lol @ those hyping this as something to improve on/make current VR/XR obsolete.

I would love to have it for work & productivity. I've been waiting an eternity for a real, production-ready AR setup for my home office so that I can fill my space with screens when doing heavy development or research.

But agreed, it's clearly not a product aimed at gaming.

Back to what I love, not a way to bring phone & productivity apps in my face, but the immersive & fun content indie & AAA studios have been developing since ~2016. Movie watching & OS stuff are neat, but nothing new, even if less clumsy or sharper, we'd get there, especially for that much 💰

I'm curious how quickly new Quest games will become incompatible with Quest2, once 3 releases. I doubt that most game creators will skip Q2 compatibility since the install base is so high, but it's also possible that we'll get jankier versions on the older platform. I don't intend to buy a Q3 for at least a little while.

I wish Meta was better about releasing all content on the PC Oculus app as well, which should take minimal effort, and with cross-buy as they did for many titles in the past. Then, if the Q3 version looked so much better than the Q2, I would just play it on my PC via VirtualDesktop / Airlink and still have the best experiences even without updating the headset so frequently.

I think outside of first party releases we will probably just see a similar thing to whats going on with psvr2 ports, they make it with the quest 2 being the primary target then ports to q3/pcvr/psvr2 get some kind of upgrade with resolution/textures. Will be interesting to see if meta do anything quest3 that's not AR only to show what it can do. Anything AR is probably going to be quest 3 only though oh and pro I guess.

So Quest Update V54 has awful Wi-Fi performance

Hopefully that will be fixed soon in a patch, although Meta hasn't been the greatest about response time on these kinds of things.

There was something like a full month where many users (myself included) we unable to use the Dev mode on their headset, because it was auto-disabled and then some kind of server error prevent toggling it back on. I saw many game developers working on serious upcoming Quest games on the official Meta support forums explaining that this was a major impact on their work. But Meta barely even acknowledged it for weeks.

The Upload VR Summer Showcase is on (you'd have seen most of the games if you check this thread but there were a few reveals like Espire 2's Mixed Reality Missions content update, Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate - Episode 3 and Floor Plan 2), plus today's stuff outside that.

They got this pcvr/psvr2 game running on Quest standalone

I am blown away that it looks this good. I was questioning if they'd even be able to port it. I'm guessing the graphics in the headset will be better than Tales from the Galaxy's Edge and slightly worse than Red Matter 2. Considering what all is going on in Hubris this is very impressive.

The VR train isn't stopping, I can't even work or sleep without stuff getting announced/shown off/released/updated. Dumping the original source (ie the PlayStation Blog) for brevity, news apply to more platforms (ie, Hubris showed off the Quest port, the PSVR2 updates are coming to PC, etc.) o_O

Breachers is another one that's impressive what they got out of the quest 2.
