Do we know when Maxwell is coming out? I really dont want to get say a 770 then a few months later Maxwell come out.
We're not sure at the moment. I'm currently debating buying a 770 myself, and having the same waiting dilemma .

I'm worried now, when was it online exactly ? I bought it like.. 5 hours ago. How late am i ?

I know my 5970 can handle some of the older games and maybe some prototypes, but I need to upgrade for the newer games.
I know they said they had room to make it lighter, but any word on the weight now that the DK2 is heavier?
About four hours late.
We are in the same boat.

the 750ti is maxwell
if you're talking about new high-end 20nm maxwell chips, probably toward the end of the year
Because die-shrinks are a bitchWhy does Nvidia has to be late for their 800 series, I want a 880 to replace my 570 SLI.. >.<"
Guess I might end up taking a 780 for (a few?) month... ( well I actually already thought about doing so for Star citizen dof fighting module, guess it's just another good reason )
So lets say that consumer version is 1440p/90fps, which it sounds like it will be.
That's gonna require something properly powerful. I know we'll have better GPU's and whatnot later this year and 2015, but there will still likely be plenty of people that don't have the kind of hardware to power this without some massive compromises.
So, would playing in 1080p still be feasible? Or will the scaling ruin the image or create some other problem that I have no idea about?
Scaling adds lag overhead and will also reduce the sharpness of the image both of which are very detrimental to a good VR experience. On the positive side however, experiences for the Oculus Rift would be built with the Rift in mind so performance at 1440p90 will be the consideration. So lets say that consumer version is 1440p/90fps, which it sounds like it will be.

what are the developer kit resources like? I'm relatively new to game development so I'm wondering how much I could actually get done with a kit
Playeddddd it.
Close to Valve's, but not quite. Positional tracking had a few small jumps, but only rarely. Couch Knights was strangely impressive. Valkyrie was cool, but pretty mechanically simple. Hope they beef it up.
Lol We're debating this yet some gaffers here have bought the dev kit without even having a gaming rig!
What would you say is the biggest difference between this and Valve's prototype?
Pretty sure I hear Palmer say that the consumer version will deliver if not surpass what valve demonstrated. The fact that Feep says this is pretty close to Valve's prototype is amazing.
Can't wait for the retail version.
It'll only be like an additional 1000 dollars and...

But it should be sooo worth it.Because die-shrinks are a bitch![]()

If they're really gonna take that long I might invest in a 780 or 770 when this ships. I was looking at the 780 ti, but that is crazy money for a video card.
Based on the dates here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...tcolid=-1&sortasc=true&page=1&rowsperpage=250
Ordering ~5 hours after page went up, I'd say I'm in the 2nd or 3rd batch, should be shipped within 2 weeks after first orders.
Yeah, but it's totally worth it!
I haven't come across a single game my 780Ti does not destroy at max settings at 1080P. In fact, I am downsampling most of my games since I have so much extra processing headroom.
Whats the diff between the 780 ti and the 780?
We're not sure at the moment. I'm currently debating buying a 770 myself, and having the same waiting dilemma .
The 780Ti has 25% more processing cores and texture mapping units. 2880 compared to 2304, and 240 compared to 192 respectively.
The GDDR5 memory is also clocked at 7GHz instead of 6GHz.
Overclocking headroom is also increased due to a better power delivery system.
Ordered.
I want to order it but I was shocked by the VAT and Shipping.
350$ for Oculus
55$ shipping
85$ VAT
Makes a total of $490 dollars to ship it to me, and for 350 dollars i've would buy it (and a bit extra for shipping) but 490 dollars is a bit to much for a extra "toy"
People love to repeat this crap as if it was something deep and meaningful and they never stop to think about how that's not necessarily true.Competion is good. Monopolies arent.
It's pretty crazy, but I'm hoping it'll be worth it.Damn, EU people are getting shafted.. That's insane. And here I was pissed off about our 20 dollar shipping. Lol

Not all competition is for the better. In this case for instance we have a start-up company working on an open standard on open platforms, and what's coming along to compete is a big corporation which is (probably) going to throw its weight and its brand at it and supersede inclusivity with exclusivity.
Hardly the kind of competition from which will benefit the customers.
It's good for developers of VR experiences, at the very least. The more platforms there are, the more sales and exposure their ideas will get.People love to repeat this crap as if it was something deep and meaningful and they never stop to think about how that's not necessarily true.

OculusVR going into full meltdown-panic mode with Sony revealing the Morpheus.
Oculus' days are numbered, and they know it.
Not that I give a damn about what Ubisoft is going to do, for a start.Look at what Ubisoft said, they're not jumping in on VR till there is a consumer base.
Even taking that as truth, that's hardly something I would be willing to cheer about, unless Sony is willing to support its devices even on other platforms, especially open ones, with both drivers and software. That consumer base is more guaranteed with Sony coming in than without
Spoken like a true beanie wearer!Add to that, Sony is the only major publisher who will be developing native AAA VR games. That can only be good for gamers.
Stop with this bullshit bias against Sony.
