Did you use -freq 75 to drive it at 75 hz?
Yup.

finally got my shipping notice. is there a site that details the recommend first steps? i apologize as i know this information has been covered in this very thread, but i was hoping it had been compiled somewhere.
There's really not much to it. The quick start guide that comes with the rift got you covered for the hardware setup.
If you haven't already, sign up for the oculus dev section to download and install the runtime.
Once your rift is connected, run the configuration utility and update the firmware. Then you can jump right into the desk demo scene which should be enough to amaze you regardless of detailed settingsI for one also checked out Tuscany before anything else to see if I would get motion sick by moving around ^^
Afterwards you can measure your IPD, figure out which screen distance feels best for you (don't forget to update the eye relief in the config utility accordingly), set the display mode to extended so that non-Oculus demos work... You will figure out most things by messing around![]()
Titans of Space just released DK2 Support:

This may be a stupid question, but I've never really played too many flight sim games, let alone space ones, and I only have a 360 controller, but is Elite : Dangerous worth the $75? Everyone says it's the coolest DK2 experience, and a lot of fun, but 75 clams is a lot...
HOLY SHIT. HL2 is amazing. Started a new game and played it for half an hour (standing up), jaw on the floor the whole time.![]()
My god. HL2 is blowing my mind and I'll keep playing it like that (Standing up! For the first in my life, I actually think standing up to play a game is worth it), but oh how much I wish the rift had a higher resolution screen. Some of the details in the distance are totally ruined by the resolution.
I never tried the DK1, so I thought 1080p would be enough, but it's clearly not. How is Sony going to handle this? I kinda feel bad for them, maybe they should just save Morpheus for the PS5.

Are you using SGSSAA or downsampling to improve the image quality?
Hmmm, I'll try that later, thanks. Not sure if my single 670 can handle it, but I'll try.SGSSAA really helped clean it up, I guess it does still on DK2. I suggest 4xSGSSAA if you can handle it.
YES!Hey guys
Half life 2 VR works with DK2 now

That's why I don't go to Ravenholm ... in VR.I had a moment last night with a poison head crab.
People who say P.T. is the scariest thing ever have NO FUCKING CLUE.

Half life works!
I have two options of blurry mess or judder hell.

As a guy who ordered March 28, I got my "about to ship" message last night too.Says March 21st, 2014 at 4:02 AM Pacific
At this point, there's not a lot that uses the Rift. By the time the consumer model comes out, there will be a lot more support, and it won't have all these little problems, and hoops you sometimes need to jump through to set up. Also Elite will be out by then, and not cost 75 damned dollars.I'm not a developer but I really can't wait till next year for retail release
anyone think I should get DK2?
I do care about resolution though
any news about retail unit spec?

Road to VR did a write-up and consolidated all the HL2 fixes and such here
Will need to try a couple things on the troubleshooting as I still get jutter.
I've also read that unplugging/plugging back in the Rift and Camera can work for various 'jutter' issues in other demos.
Imagine how it was on DK1
Was still great though.

How would you apply this in game?
Also, I noticed something odd with FPS games. I seem to do better with a mouse than controller. The quick movements of the mouse don't disorient me as much.
Hmm, when i loaded the SteamVR program and the Oculus Config utility window pops up but says 'No Device attached', yet the Oculus Config Utility thats is in my taskbar is detecting the OR. How to i get steam to see my OR?
You don't open it like that. Forget about the SteamVR app. Gp to the 'View' tab and in the drop down menu there's an option, I think it's called Steam VR Mode. You launch it from there.
Ah thanks.
Have looked and there only appears to be small mode and big picture mode. No mention of SteamVR or the like....any ideas?
