Thanks. In addition to what you mentioned about couples and so forth, another thing I can actually see happening in is treatment for something like porn-induced sexual/erectile dysfunction. They've already started using VR for immersion/psychological therapy for phobias. VR could potentially help tremendously with this as well.

I didn't even think of that. That's a good point. I mean the general VR applications for therapy. I am super afraid of spiders, for example, and I think that if I hated myself enough to go into a spider-infested VR space, I actually might get used to it in a very safe place and might be able to carry that back into the real world and stop acting like an 11 year old girl every time there's a spider nearby, lol.

Man, the possibilities for this technology are mind-bending. I was born at the best time. I got to watch all this stuff grow from the moment it became interesting (I'm 34, for reference)

Oculus Touch goes on preoder in about 45 minutes, so for those who didn't buy the Rift through the official preorders (and check the "I'm interested in Touch" box), get your F5's ready!

I'm hoping the new camera sensors also go up for preorder, as I want one of those to maximize my room-scale area (I got a large open livingroom).

Iribe said today they would not be going up for pre-order yet, but they are planning to include a USB extension with those sensors.

I can't find a place to save my shipping info, I tested it out by putting a Rift in my cart on the site, gonna have to put all that info in to get the preorder in. Anyone know of a quicker way so I can get a guaranteed slot before it sells out?

Write it out in a note doc you can copy and paste from, and start out with the address part copied

Refresh buttons at the ready!

I wonder what the demand of these will be and if the pre-order allotments will run out on Amazon like they did with PS VR units.

EDIT 12:00 PM PST: Still showing as unavailable on Amazon... :(

As a reminder for those who have a Touch slot reserved from their Rift pre-orders:

I just got an email with the details.

To retain priority status you need to pre-order using the same email used with your Rift preorder and complete your Touch pre-order before 11:59 PM Pacific on Thursday 10/27.

Yep, I had this on my order confirmation page:

Ordered my Touch controllers. Ive been wanted to switch to a Vive for months now, but at this point Ive decided I will at least try out these Touch controllers before switching.

huh if I go to
https://secure.oculus.com/my/orders

my touch order is listed with a date of Jan 6th, 2016 (is that when I ordered my rift?). I will probably cancel my touch before it ships but put it in for now in case something cool is announced in the next 45 days.

It says this under order status

Pre-order
Congratulations: your prior Rift preorder qualifies you to have a preferred place-in-line for your Touch preorder!
Estimated shipping dates: Dec 06 - Dec 15

Preordered through Oculus as there was no shipping charge - Amazon would be charging ~$15 in tax.

Did you read this bit on Oculus' website:
Taxes, Surcharges and Fees: Applicable shipping, taxes and duties will be added to and charged in your payment upon shipment of the unit.

I'm sticking with Amazon for that silky smooth release day shipping.

Did Oculus say anything about different inserts at Connect? I really want to like the device, but even with the straps adjusted all the way out the pressure the facial insert puts on my temples(it doesn't fit flush against my forehead) makes me feel dizzy after 20 or so minutes.

Well, they released the CAD files to the public for the facial interface, to try and get more replacements from third parties out there in the wild. VR Cover is also working on a replacement interface to be able to use custom padding instead of the default one.

They did say they were going to release the CAD files for the facial interface specs, so at the very least I think you can hope for some good 3rd party solutions coming out.

Whoever gets the first decent glasses-friendly insert out will get a decent amount of orders.

Oh good. I hope someone makes "ski mask goggles foam" akin to the Vive as that molds better than the Rift's stiffer foam for me. Though I'm not sure if that will do it. The Rifts facial insert is very curved, so perhaps an insert that makes that flatter is all I need.

Preordered also, kinda annoying us Kickstarters didnt get to reserve a spot but oh well, hopefully they will have manufactured enough and not have to wait until March 2017 lol

This is what Brenden Iribe said:

We're shipping in volume and hope to have enough stock for most - if not all - to receive Touch in December. With that said, Kickstarter backers do not have a reserved place in line on Touch pre-orders. Only people that pre-ordered Rift on www.oculus.com. Sorry for the confusion.

He also said that when the extra camera sensors go on sale (which might be October 31), they will come packed with a USB extender. And the preorder bonus games will be included in all preorders, including ones made on retail stores like Amazon.com and BestBuy.

In addition to a glasses-friendly insert, I want an insert just like the original but with a flip up nose flap. I want to be able to block the light out of the nose gap... but I've also grown quite used to using it to peek out at things in the real world without having to take off the headset entirely.

Get a VR Cover. Makes the foam feel better and the little bit of fabric totally closes the nose gap.

Yeah I saw that, fingers crossed.

Palmer seems to be MIA, probably a good thing considering.

Finally can play Vive games without horrible hydras, oh and can try The Gallery finally

Oh, I seem to have lost my Junior status, yay

The preorder process went really smooth this time. Free shipping was a very nice surprise! Amongst the 35 launch games I'm looking forward to a handful so here's to hoping. Kind of wish they would have confirmed Medium as free for those that preordered Touch as they did with Lucky's Tale and Eve Valkyrie, VR Sports and The Unspoken would probably be my last choices for bundled games. Maybe it will show up at launch like Farlands and Dreamdeck did?

I just need release dates for Lone Echo and Arktika.1 and I'm golden.
