I'm starting to fear that it was an unwise investment for me to buy the oculus rift. I have now tried both project cars and the solus project, and have felt motion sick only after a few minutes. Anyone else here feeling uneasy after such a short while with these games?

I've played quite a few games now (new to rift as well), and project cars makes me feel uneasy after a single race. Most other games I've felt fine (Eve Valkeryie even). I can spend an hour or more in Elite Dangerous without issue. I beat Floor Plan (fun!) in one go.

Plenty of good games, and I've found that as I go, I can play longer and longer without feeling uneasy/ill.

Last night I experimented with Asynchronous Spacewarp in Redout. This is a game that my 980ti struggles keep at 90 FPS unless I have all the visual settings set to low and medium, and even then, dips are frequent.

Holy shit. ASW is some black magic. If I crank up most settings to high, ASW is pretty much constantly on. It feels just as smooth as native 90, and during gameplay, I don't notice any artifacts. I can see them if I concentrate on something like static text and swing my head around, but they are slight. I turned SS up to 1.2 and was still able to stay over the 45 threshold.

So yeah, ASW is a gamechanger. I need to experiment with some other games.

So I walked through the registry edit for asw. I just don't know if it enables when I press ctrl+num4 during a game.

- when I press the button combo, a weird sound effect plays
- do I have to enable it during each game?

I'm not sure if the numpad options reset at all, but if they do, I suspect it would happen on OVR service restart. It will persist across different game sessions. I used the Oculus debug tool performance monitor to validate it was on. When it kicks in, FPS will drop directly from 90 to 45.

I started off feeling a bit woozy in racing games but am comfortable with them now. Dirt Rally I still have to limit my time with though, it's pretty intense.

In PCars, if you are racing the karts choose something else like a saloon racer or sports car. Also if you spin close your eyes.

Changing the horizon/camera settings may help as well. http://www.paradigmshiftracing.com/racing-basics/racing-sims-default-settings-can-cause-vr-sickness-how-to-fix-it

has anyone else had issues with other games while oculus drivers are installed? certain games gpu usage drop to 0% every minute like clockwork unless i uninstall oculus. also makes steam extremely laggy

Thanks bud, I downloaded the sdk and used the debug tool to confirm the enabling of asw. It works, then I kicked up the pixel density and hot damn this rift is so bad ass. Really blowing my mind, pixel density increase with eve val valkyrie really takes it to another level. Definitely satisfied with my purchase.

Thanks will try this! :)

Obduction has been patched for VR support on Steam

It's also live on the Oculus store. At the time of this post, it's in the Gallery app section (formerly Concepts; early access equivalent) for some reason...

Does this also use the controller analog stick to move? :(

Yea I want to see how well things work with 2 sensors in my Vive space before picking up a third.

I'll probably be buying Obduction some time in the next week, looks very high quality and I'm hearing good things.

Also, in other good news, Dead and Buried is now also free with Oculus Touch:

https://www.oculus.com/blog/oculus-touch-tuesdays-dead-and-buried/

That's 3 fully featured free games coming with Touch launch: VR Sports Challenge, The Unspoken, and Dead and Buried.

Don't forget that Bullet Train demo will also be free day 1, Robo Recall will be free early next year, and chances are both Oculus Medium and Quill will be free as well. That's a shitload of free software for Touch buyers!

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?

Yeah, great news. I hope you're right about Medium, I think it may be useable for production work and I've been wondering what they'd charge.

Actually, I changed my mind on the third sensor. I'm going to pick one up so I can see what kind of difference a third sensor actually makes in different setups.

Glad to see that Dead & Buried was added to the Touch bundle. I already had a feeling that was going to wind up one of the more popular titles at launch, but that should ensure it has a good amount of folks playing.

I had to take out the padding that's around your eyes/face to access the HDMI connector.

Anyway, put it all together and it's fine.

But it feels like FOV is smaller than before. I'm starting to notice the corners.

Does everyone else see it like this ( ), like you're looking through a ski mask ( which I have never wore)

I also just bought some anti fog spray off amazon.

I'm thinking about selling my Oculus CV1.

Own a Vive/PSVR/GearVR/(soon)DayDream.

Lucky's Tale, Chronos and Edge of Nowhere has been amongst some of the most enjoyable gaming playthroughs of this year for me so I'm definitely happy I had the device.

However, there's several reasons why I'm selling it but I'm just double-checking if there's any absolute must-haves in your opinion over the next 6 months (sure, Touch brings the product to a level it should have been at when it launched but any killer apps?).

Lone Echo impressions have been pretty glowing. Especially the multiplayer.

I would wait till Touch is out, at the very least. See what it offers before you make a decision.

The Climb has been patched to finally allow supersampling, among other graphics tweaks.

Wonder if it supports Touch now.

Also, Medium is the real deal. Oculus would be insane to not push it hard.

Ooh, that's awesome! Thanks for the heads up.

After I upgraded my computer, the lack of graphics options in The Climb was one of my main annoyances when there was clearly so much more I could have pushed there. Will be trying this later today to see how well it works.

New Oculus blog post

- 1.10 is rolling out now and ASW will be enabled by default
- An app called First Contact will launch with Touch, which looks like an elaborate demo that serves as an intro to using Touch.
- Avatars are now in the SDK (not live for users until Touch launch)

I tried letting my rift sit for about 10mins for it to warm up to combat the fogging, and it worked!

Tried some dreamdeck, ocean rift and apollo 11. I don't own that many games/apps . I find everything is too expensive on the store, best stick to steam I think.

Stil my favourite VR experience to this day is apollo 11 . What's everyone one else's? Anything worth recommending?

For some reason my computer boots up quick now or how it normally should with my rift connected. It used to take much longer before.

So I'm wondering if I'm supposed to do anything since I activated ASW through the registry edit. Lately, I've been getting freezes in Project Cars. Anyone know?

Played around with Avatars. Wish there were more options for hair.

As for ASW, is this the reason I have seen a boost in quality in Project Card on my 970? I didn't change any settings.

Probably, yes.

Thanks to ASW I can now play Obduction smoothly enough (it still stutters during area transitions) on mostly Epic settings at 150% resolution. This rules.

ASW is enabled by default now, right? I really want to get back into some Rift games.

I'm having an issue in cockpit games where Re-centering the view doesn't help. Do I have to have the camera positioned directly in front of me? It's much more convenient to have it off to the side a bit, but it never centers correctly.

Latest update 1.10 broke support for the Inateck PCI USB card.
I’ve tested it on two different PCs, both with an Inateck 4-port USB 3.0 PCI card (model KTU3FR-4P). Everything was working perfectly until 1.10 came out, and now I'm unable to use the Rift with it. The HMD and my two sensors (I have Touch) keep disconnecting repeatedly. I've tried installing the latest Fresco Logic drivers (v3.6.9.0a) as well as the default Windows 10 drivers, but no luck. The headset and the sensors keep disconnecting and reconnecting, making the Rift unusable.
Since it happens on two different machines, with different specs, and with two sets of Rifts + Touch, I can't be the only one with this problem.

Any help?

I have that card and am able to use my Rift and sensor with it. Looks like I have an older version of the driver though

For what it's worth, I have been having lots of USB related issues since I installed the Win10 anniversary update. The most annoying of which is that my PC will hang on boot unless I unplug my USB hub. If I plug it back in after login, then it's okay. Troubleshooting it has a pain in the ass.

This may not help your hub issue, but if you're having other issues you can go to regedit then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Enum/USB/VID_07C5&PID_0500\HID_7B then choose device parameters then select DeviceSelectiveSuspended and set the Value data to 0, then select EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled and set its Value data to 0. This will stop USB's from being disabled while something is plugged in. I have to do this at work for clients because Win 10 causes our software to freeze when trying to access associated hardware. Not sure if that will help, but it shouldn't hurt anything.

Awesome to hear about ASW being default and that I can squeeze more juice out of my 980ti. Touch release is also close!

Has anyone had issues with Oculus Home not opening since the updated? My logs show that it updated overnight at the weekend, and since then it just won't open for me. I've tried uninstalling and doing a fresh install, but it's just sticks at the screen with the pulsing logo.
