I think they convinced me to get this over Wizardry, so once I get my new H/D, I'm definately going to give this one a spin.
Looks like good fun to me.

It's certainly looks like this is DOA =(
What a disappointment that this doesn't seem to be performing. Is it a lack of advertising, the price, or just a general lack of interest that's holding it back?
...how do we know that is isn't performing? Because people arent posting in a thread about a game on a message board? I'm sure it's doing fine.

Personally, the price is my big point. I already own the Xbox version and the Oddbox on Steam. $15 is steep for this when I already own it twice.
Well, we don't know for sure (I did say "seem"), but thread activity on a niche release like this is usually a pretty good barometer for judging it.
Like yourself, I also own it twice. That said, if this had launched at $10 (or with a PSN Plus discount) I'd probably have jumped right in and bought it. It's not that it's overpriced. Considering the amount of content and the fact that it's a full remake (more like Halo: Anniversary than say RE4:HD), $15 is a fair price. But with so many games on sale right now and so many high profile releases lapping up the spotlight, this was bound to happen.
Also doesn't help matters much that JAW either didn't send out codes early enough or at all to many reviewers, so few websites have even bothered to post their impressions of the game. Metacritic only has 6 reviews for the game, and only a couple of those are from bigger sites.

You mean to say JAW screwed up something simple?5 hours down the drain in Stranger last night. The QuickSave option is completely useless if you exit the game and reload. Why? you ask? Because the only saves you can reload are hard saves, not QUICKSAVES. YOU CANT LOAD A FLIPPING QUICKSAVE.
I had a warm blanket of anger wash over me after this occurred. I then popped in Skyrim and all was well.

...I'm pretty sure if you press continue at the main menu, it loads the quick save. At least, it did for me.
I'd like to hear some more feedback from actual gamers before buying it. How good is the port? It seems like they've done a great job with the visuals, but how is the framerate?
They didn't, autosave works. You mean to say JAW screwed up something simple?
I for one am shocked and appalled. Flabbergasted, even.
It's using MLAA, yeah.Does this game use MLAA or something? The IQ is so clean.
The updated look I find comparable to the recently re-released re4 whereas both games were so gorgeous to begin with, not much really needed to be done except to makes things a tad more crisp and solid, which is exactly what has been accomplished.
Comparing this HD update to the recent RE4 "update" is so very wrong... so much love and care was put into creating the HD version of this game; whereas the RE4 port was a simple job of upping the resolution. CRAPCOM should be ashamed of their recent re-release of RE4, whereas JAW has something to be proud of with their work on bringing Stranger's Wrath into the days of HD.
I disagree. Both games run at 720p. Ive played SW on the OG Xbox since its release and I can easily tell that there ISNT much of a difference besides cleaner and sharper textures amidst a higher resolution, which is exactly what Crapcom did with re4.
No, it's not. I'm not sure if you've played RE4:HD, but it is nothing more than RE4's Gamecube assets rendering at 720p and in widescreen, not entirely dissimilar to what you can do in an emulator. It's a port, yes, and it looks better rendering at a higher resolution, but it's not a remake and just about every texture is a blurry mess by modern standards. I'm not sure how much of the game was remade in Stranger's Wrath, but the fact that they remade anything at all puts it in a different category. New textures, polygon models, and resampled sound along with a better overall framerate differentiate the two titles decisively.
Theres no new textures or polygon models dude. In fact some textures havent been touched up at all. Case in point: The blurry mess of Wanted posters on the sides of the outer Bounty/General Stores. Everything is just cleaned up and sporting a higher resolution. The sound isnt re sampled. Its a little cleaner, but it still bugs up sometimes just like in the original. And yes the framerate and camera control is solid and quicker.
Wrong. Go look up the screenshots they did of before and after character models.

It is true that the original PC release WAS a straight port and still is until they patch in the HD assets, but the PS3 version is improved from the original Xbox version.
Don't waste your time. I've showed that quicksave works and you have shown that the game has updated models. There's nothing else to be said, no one is going to change his mind at this point.
It's possible he's referring to the PC version which hasn't actually gotten the HD update yet. There were also a lot of dumb issues with that version so it wouldn't surprise me if there are still some issues.

i would like to know that as well. i heard from some people on a different forum that the game has constant stutter (short freezes, maybe loading issues) and some areas have slowdowns.
It didn't used to be. We had to yell at JAW until they added that. Apparently they didn't think it was something PC gamers cared about.Resolution is obviously configurable in the pc version(which I also own.)
