I doubt many of you have been there, but for those whom have, any tips on things to do there? Besides drink and try not to spend abnormal amounts of money on juicys. Also, I hear there's a lot of cheap things there. Lots of knock off products or are they the real deal?

Are there any beachy resorts in South Korea? I have always wanted to go, but I also like swimming and laying around on the beach.

Nah, I don't speak Korean (though I'm sure I'll pick up some up while I'm there). Also, korean MMO's are masochistic grind fests. But, I'm not there to play MMO's either.

I hear most of the host women are "imported"

take pics of hot and/or artificially enhanced women

Hahahah!~

Do this! They may be artificially enhanced, but they still made the damned bus and train rides a lot more amusing! And they tend to dress extremely well. Short short skirts and see-through shirts!

Places to see
Yongsan (electronics market)
dongdaemun (clothing)
jongno / jonggak (bars, shopping)
insadong (cultural shit)
myung dong (clothing, shopping, fakes)
shinchon (bars)
itaewon (foreign food if you miss it, though they do make foreign food especially well here)
sichon/gwanghwamun (city hall)
Grand National Park (cool zoo)
Lotte World (amusement park shit)
CoEx (cool mall)
Everland (big amusement park shit)

Outside Seoul is much better in my opinion
Ilsan (has this kick ass mall that reminds me of a carnival)
Garden of Morning Calm (huge garden. I don't like gardens, but I liked this one)
Spavis (biggest spa in Asia apparently? Pretty cool)
Herb Garden (forgot the name, but they had the best bibimbap there)
Busan (on the east coast, incredible seafood, try the scallops, raw fish, and king crab there)

hey, I lived there for three years and returned not long ago~

Public transport is very good! Taxi drivers can be rude, however, but it's rather cheap.

You will find that everything you want to do in Seoul can be done in a matter of a couple weeks. But have a great time and eat lots of kim chi for me~~ ^^

Thanks for all the good tips on places to visit. I'm going to be there for a while for work so I'll have to pick things up as I go. As for my nationality..I'm american so I'm sure I'll stick out like a sore thumb. Oh and, as for juicys..they tend to hang out at bars and will come over and talk to you if you buy them some "juice". They'll sometimes do some more sexual things if they like you/you spend a good amount of money. They're like a mix between a hooker and a stripper. Though' most of the juicys are imported in from other countries (read: victims of human trafficking).

Go to the DMZ.

Take the KTX rail to another city. It's still shocking for me that Seoul to Daegu is only 1.5 hours now. Daejon is another city to visit.

Japan is only 3 hours away by hydrofoil from Busan.

Get a bicycle and explore the city your living in.

If your still there during winter, go skiing/snowboarding at Muju ski resort.

DMZ is cool. Forgot to mention that.

Had a bad experience in Daegu. It's just cold. And they're not as open to foreigners as Seoul. Daejon is okay.

Japan 3 hours by hydrofoil?! I've never heard this before!

Bicycle, be careful. If it's Seoul, the smog and pollutants in the air will get to you. Be sure to being water when the Yellow Dust hits from China.

skiing/snowboarding I heard was fun, but EXTREMELY crowded.

I'm not really sure who says Seoul is soulless, I had a lot more fun there than I do here (Toronto)

Since you don't speak Korean, your best bet to endear yourself to people is to walk around making random Starcraft unit noises. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhe7baIAs2Y, but you can actually use the right words and accent.

The second important thing is to prepare a rendition of Wonder Girl's "Tell Me" dance as exemplified http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVI1fp4toRg. This is a standard greeting in Korea and you should break it out whenever you are introduced to important-looking people, or attractive females/males. There are numerous step-by-step tutorials on youtube for learning this dance.

Oh, and it's apparently okay to thrust your pelvis rhythmically in public as long as you flail your arms around.

How's the water in that area of the world? Are there any beaches by the sea that you'd actually want to go to? Or are they pretty polluted? I imagine the pollution from china takes its toll there (plus their own pollution on top of that).

Head up to North Korea and save this beauty

How bad is the pollution in Seoul, really? Is it worse than the worst you'd see in the US? I kinda want to move there but I worry that it'd fuck with my allergies.

I assume you're staying in Seoul.

Go to Dongdaemun Market, the 24 hours clothing district, and buy truckloads of clothes. You will find the knock off products on the street and the genuine ones in the malls.

Go the the bar district where all the US marines hang out and pick up some local girls.... :P

That said, I don't really like the city all that much.
