Considering that bikini outfits were less often bundled with the different versions of DoA5 than the non-sexy/non-revealing outfits, Im confident the bikinis at least sold a lot better than those.

Because it's true? Costume DLC is easy money, especially when you're pandering to your fanbases. And homage costumes pander just as much as bikini costumes do.

When they first revealed the game they seemed like they were going for more grounded designs for the female characters and there was some fan backlash, but the game still launched with a good amount of fan service and sold pretty well.
