Moore and Parker (if healthy) are more important than the other running backs. Moore is our best blocking back and he always makes big plays on 3rd down. We don't win the Superbowl or even get there without him.

I don't think it is worth keeping 4 rb's on the team. It isn't like the other guys are going anywhere and if our line does its job than Parker is capable of getting a single yard.

We're going to have four running backs regardless, considering we're keeping Frank Summers. The Steelers are probably hoping Redman makes it through waivers so they can add him to the practice squad, I doubt that will happen though, considering his efforts in the preseason.

Yeah, I'm disappointed about Redman. But it's not like he was going to be dressed for games unless they had more drastic RB injuries like last year. Maybe he makes the practice squad with any luck. I'm thrilled that Davis is gone though.

I was always more worried about the offensive line than whomever our short yardage back is. We need to fucking tighten our belt and stop getting straight pushed back 4 yards when we need one. That is usually all on the center and it is inexcusable since the center out of all lineman has the biggest advantage of getting the jump on the snap. Not even Bo Fucking Jackson could have gotten that yard behind our line last year.

Here is the Week 1 title guys for the Superbowl defending Pittsburgh Steelers. You come at the King, you better not miss.

Watched some of the Niner/Charger game this morning ( Dvr). I am starting to get really concerned about our pass protection. Hopefully in a real game our run game could open up some pass opportunities. We will either be totally terrible or make a play off run. I can't make up my mind. Our D is looking ok tho.

Go Niners!

And that's why we need a guy who can fight for that one yard; neither Parker, Moore, nor Mendenhall have proven they can consistently get that one yard on their own accord. I'd love for our line to improve its run blocking but I can't say I'm all that confident it will, I don't think we have the strength up front to blow people off the ball at will...

I don't think I like all of these outlets picking the Packers to win the division or, if you're Don Banks, go to the freaking Superbowl. Let us be under the radar, damn it!

don't worry, they'll all be wrong and you can rest easy with another top 10 pick next year.

maybe you can pick crabtree and pay him the $40 million that deion sanders says some team would be willing to offer him

I'm picking the Packers to go to the Super Bowl also. Sorry.

Why would we draft Crabtree when you're just going to draft him again next year when he reenters?

I'm too sick to ascertain whether you actually like our chances or just want us to fail :lol

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Niners are forbidden from redrafting Crabtree. Any other team would be able to though.

Crabshit stock is going to drop like a mother. Not able to play pro ball/college for more that a year well stunt his growth. Good job Crabtree's Agent doing the best job for your yourself.

Nah, I legitimately like the Packers chances. I don't have any extra animosity for the Packers despite our mini rivarly in the 90s. And I'll definitely be rooting for them to beat their division rivals this year, as I hate Cutler and Favre.

Even if Crabtree signed before camps, I don't think he would have been on the field between his foot injury and adjusting to the game. He'll probably still sign with the Niners but sitting out for the majority of the year may be the best thing for him.

If his foot injury is that bad, why the hell is he asking for so much?

9ers should just let Crabtree sit out the year, and fuck him over at every chance unless a favorable trade comes there way. Speaking of 9ers' how injured did Glen Coffee get last night?

I agree. Nothing better than a GM who makes decisions based on spite. Crabtree has proven he's a malcontent and I really have no use for that on my favorite team. I don't want another TO.

NFL: 49ers, Crabtree need to work it out

The NFL does not plan to investigate whether teams have tampered with unsigned 49ers draft pick Michael Crabtree, an NFL spokesman said this morning.

Deion Sanders, speaking on the NFL Network on Friday, intimated two NFL teams have gotten word to Crabtree that they're willing to pay him more than the five-year, $20 million contract the 49ers are offering.

"Two teams have contacted the San Francisco 49ers desiring a trade and will pay this kid. And he knows that," Sanders said of Crabtree. He did not name the two teams, and the 49ers denied Friday that any teams contacted them about acquiring Crabtree in a trade. The deadline passed three weeks ago for unsigned draft picks to be traded.

Sanders is intimately close to the situation. He has known Crabtree for years and served as a mentor. Sanders spoke several times with 49ers coach Mike Singletary prior to the draft to vouch for Crabtree's character. During his playing career, Sanders was represented by Eugene Parker, whom also represents Crabtree.

When asked if the league intends to follow up on Sanders' statements, the league said it would not.

"This is an issue to be worked out by the 49ers and Michael Crabtree, not our office," said NFL senior vice president of public relations Greg Aiello.

Sanders said the 49ers have offered Crabtree $20 million for five seasons, but added, "To me, that's not good enough."

Added Sanders, "Yeah, they have an extra $8 million, yeah, but if he catches more balls than Jerry Rice in the first or second year. And with their quarterback situation, that's not going to be the case. So he's looking at real numbers. Some of these young guys never make it to the second contract. You may never get another chance."

i'm so fucking sick of the NFL giving preferred treatment to the cowboys. is there any DOUBT that the team involved in any trade talks was the dallas cowboys? of course the NFL isn't going to investigate that, but they will strip us of a draft pick after drew rosenhaus called US regarding lance briggs.

fuck roger goddell and his double standard.

Yeah, this is such bullshit. Remember when one of our offensive lineman signed with the Dolphins one minute into the signing period a few years back? Why wasn't that tampering? NFL should investigate this shit.

yeah, somehow justin smiley signed with the dolphins at 12:01 am. i guess they hammered out the contract details in 60 seconds.

I think the NFL's point is that the Niners themselves have to initiate the tampering investigation, but yeah that's pretty blatant evidence there. Plus, it's worse, since it's out in public, unlike the Rosenhaus one.

Did the Bears initiate the Briggs tampering case? (honest question, I don't remember)

You guys are reading way too much into tampering with Crabtree. Assuming it were true, that ship has sailed long ago. He can't be traded until March 1st, 2010. The 49ers hold his rights till the day before the draft (meaning he can't even work out for any teams before the draft.)

So assuming it was the reason for the holdout, what's the excuse now? He can't be traded. He's gonna lose a shit-ton of money if he doesn't sign the contract. There's no alternative. Sign or lose millions. This is simply about the fact the guy is insane. When Mangini picks up that you're a headcase from a single interview, you know it's pretty bad. I-N-S-A-N-E. That's the real tampering happening here.

EDIT: So Deion is reporting this. Deion is full of poo. That's a shock.

There's still motivation because he thinks he has leverage. Meaning, he thinks the other teams will take him next year if he holds out for a better team with better cash.

Or it could just be Deion bluffing since he's close to Crabs.

Packers dumped Brohm. While it's disappointing we're cutting the chord on a second year, second rounder . . . he's been absolutely horrible thus far.

Disappointing.

the problem is if he talked with other teams to get an outside value (thus causing this whole fiasco).

now it could be (and maybe it's likely) that deion sanders is full of shit. afterall, he did suck eugene parkers dick for that entire 5 minute segment (lolz "he's not in the business of holding out", parker has never had a 1st round pick that reported on day 1), but it's just odd. who knows more about the situation than his close advisers? where there's smoke there's fire.

fuck crabcakes (except in madden!)

why the fuck did we cut Kory Sheets? He's not going to make it past waiver wire :(

we also cut 2 TE's (??). i don't get it.... for a team that's going to be running a lot why are we cutting these people? unless we're planning on picking up some peeps on the waiver wire too
