The only thing I don't like about Ryan is how incredibly over hyped he is. The way the media drools over him, you think he would have thrown for Drew Brees-esque numbers or something. He looks to be a great QB in the making ... but I just see the next Brett Favre :lol

i don't think anyone thinks much of rodgers outside of green bay, to be honest :lol. he has some stuff to work on, but i think he's super underrated

he really needs to grow the beard back though, damn. watched him on jim rome and he looked exactly like he did on the day of the draft. he looks nice with that beard, now he just looks like a goofy college kid

i don't want aaron to be like favre, unless you mean 95-98 favre

then ok sure
95-01 Favre is the proper timeframe, I think.

Rodgers will be a good QB at minimum (the end of the season really sold me on him), the question is whether he has that much talked about but rarely defined "it" that enables a QB to pull victories out of his ass.

Haley to the Chiefs.

Not even sure what happened there, he was apparently filling out his staff before even having an interview.

Whatever "it" is, I saw at that Carolina game. Sure we didn't end up winning, but the fact the score was 21-7 at half-time and with essentially no run game, he tore up a good secondary. We would have won that game if our defense didn't do its usual shit job or if McCarthy didn't take the ball out of Aaron's hands. I still don't get that ... he called three straight runs when Rodgers was having arguably his finest day, and from a QB who didn't throw a single red zone INT all year.

What's even more laughable is that if Crosby makes those two kicks, we go 8-8 and we don't hear this "hurr only two losing seasons in 18 years" bullshit. Whatever; as long as he hones his play, I am confident in his ability to win us a Superbowl or two--now we have to build around him.

oh yeah, this is unrelated to anything else I've posted and doesn't even make sense (because it's not supposed to) but SA's mock draft is up.
http://www.somethingawful.com/d/feature-articles/nfl-draft-2009.php
It's not as good as last offseason's Emmitt Smith draft, but it's still kind of funny just for how wacky it gets at points. You have to read the actual reasons for anyone drafting a player first, and don't expect them all to be commentary on the actual team drafting the player.

god i hope we just draft the best o-lineman available. Our offensive line is old and busted up. Granted our D-line is almost as bad, but this draft seems to be top heavy with O-lineman (i've seen mocks that have like 4 or 5 of them going in the top 15). I don't care if its not a flashy pick, we just need a solid building block.

Haley to the Chiefs. That's gonna get old.

Still, I'm on the Pioli/Haley bandwagon until I see evidence firsthand of bad choices. I was on the Herm bandwagon until I saw his blatant disregard of intelligent football strategy numerous times in close games.

A new era has begun in KC. I wonder what we could get for LJ an Tony? I'd bet the Patriots would like either one!

Vinny will draft a CB. I can feel it.

i'd settle with a linebacker (preferrably one of the 3 Trojans), and from what i've read BJ Raji seems like a beast of a DT...fuck you're probably right. It'll probably be a CB or Jeremy Maclin if he's short enough for Zorn's taste.

We have Kool-Aid though I would like Tony even though I do love Watson, he just doesn't have that big threat ability.

On sportscenter they just said TJ was trying to get on the eagles. I knew he wouldn't want to go to the bears.

You're not supposed to use it in a negative context, but nothing will happen to you here. No mods will check this thread regularly. A couple of posters have used "fag" (whatever happened to that slizz character, anyway? I knew he'd disappear as soon as Miami was bumped) and "cunt" in reference to another poster. That stuff gets you banned in the moderated threads.

Raiders will never be in full-on rebuild mode as long as Al is calling the shots. He'd rather overpay aged, under-skilled, and apathetic players than do that.
Haha, Konex got banned for a day in the NBA thread because he used the word "fairy". And all he said was a player was playing like a fairy (which is a real term for soft). :lol

And it was from a mod who never posts in that thread. :lol

He is fast, real fast. He became the Lions starting running back this year and did a pretty decent job though the running game in the CFL is vastly different compared to the NFL. Good pick up.

Sounds like good news. Hope he catches on and stays healthy. Though one doesn't have to be too fast to impress coaches who have been returning kicks with freaking fullbacks for two years.

Hopefully he can fit the role, we need someone to take the role and flourish. NFL taking some more talent, just a couple days a go Redskins signed the CFL's 2008 special team player of the year winner

CFL players should be fine though they are usually undersized compared to their NFL brethren. There is an adjustment they have to make though and it ain't just the talent level. The CFL field is a lot wider than the NFL one so these small backs and receivers have less room to run.

I'm hoping a good draft this year and a key free agent pickup or two this year will get the Pack there sooner than later....

A band of inmates at the Prince George's County jail, furious at a lockdown that kept them from watching Sunday's Super Bowl, disabled the locks on their cell doors and stormed out to assault their guards.

In an apparently coordinated attack, at least eight inmates burst from cells on a second-floor tier, their faces covered with bedsheets, and threw trash cans and chairs at the officers on the ground level
, said Lt. Curtis Knowles, president of the Prince George's Correctional Officers Association.

The two guards quickly summoned reinforcements, and the disturbance was quelled without serious injury. But the incident underscored concerns about the integrity of cell locks in the jail.

Knowles said the union has warned jail officials for at least two years that cell locks throughout the Upper Marlboro jail can be defeated with deodorant can tops or plastic utensils and need to be replaced.
You just don't mess with a man's Constitutional Right To Watch The Super Bowl.

TJ may not wanna go to Philly once McNabb leaves. Kolb will take that team back 2-3 years.

All depends on what they do with McNabb. McNabb can force a trade, force them to cut him, force them into a new extension (his current deal runs out after the 2010 season).

Most likely they realize how terrible Kolb has looked and they re work McNabb's contract. It will actually open up the salary cap for this upcoming offseason too.

TJ, DJax, and Curtis...I like the sound of that if only Boldin is not possible.

A third receiver like TJ or Boldin would help us out a lot. We still need to do something to gain some consistency in short yardage situations. I hope Westbrook can impress me more next year.

"Yo, Holmes, to Bel-Air!"

Tomlin's just a pure bad ass, I would have rocked the shit out of that hair if I grew up in the era :lol

Glad to see we're attempting to fix the return game, it was beyond horrid this year.

Short yardage situation comes down to this: they do not run the ball and when they do either Westbrook is hurt, they do not use Buck, or the OLINE underperforms. Its all the more highlighted because Reid decides to run at the weirdest times. Like he will go all game without really establishing the run and then in some crucial situation he will decide to run.

You have to set up the run. Its not something you just call up once or twice in the game. Secondly guys like Runyan have publicly stated how the Eagles do not even practice running the ball much at all in training camp or week to week.

aaron rodgers is a gigantic doucher. he'll be out of the league within 5 years!

You've sure softened up to him since draft day. You never would have given him a 5 year cushion back then. I wish I could find that thread. Glad to see you're becoming a believer though! :)

We're going to draft another TE, mark my words. :lol

I still don't think TJ will be leaving the bengals. if he is then I'm pretty much done with the team until Mike Brown dies in the most painful way possible.

i really doubt cheap-ass brown will tag TJ because it will cost him nearly 10 million dollars

5 years from his final year in college
