So I guess it's well-established by now that the Madden and Superbowl loser curses are still in effect? Favre got hurt and only kept playing because he's Favre, and as a result the curse affected the Packers for his antics. Not to mention the Patriots missed the playoffs.

So I guess that means no Cardinals in the playoffs next year. Now all we need is for All Day to be on the next cover...

There's never been any printed stories about it, at least not that I've found. But by little interactions I've seen from them on the sideline through various NFL Films replays and the like, I always thought it was a little bit strained. There always was rumors that Cowher wanted Rivers in that 04 draft.
As an analyst he is in love with Big Ben.

as an analyst he's a Steelers homer but nearly any former player/coach is a homer for their team unless they've been out of it for like 10+ years.

I don't know about Shannon Sharpe, though, because I still can barely understand what he says most of the time.

And as an added bonus I would love reading the inevitable story of Lewis and TO fighting in the locker room leading to the arrest of Lewis and a trip to the hospital for Owens.

Baltimore Sun said:
"I can definitely play with T.O," Lewis said. "I think T.O. is a great, great person. I just love him. I love his work ethic. I love everything about him. So, playing with T.O. is easy."

!

At least he's not as shameless as Jerome Bettis. Dude's not handling the transition to media that well. Openly cheering and celebrating in the press box.:lol

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn was arrested at an Irving hotel on Jan. 25 for public intoxication and possession of marijuana under two ounces, according to police.

Irving police spokesman David Tull said workers at the Extended Stay Deluxe Hotel at 605 Meadow Creek Dr. called late that night about a suspicious person.

"I guess he was going up and down the halls," Tull said.

Glenn was arrested at 10:30 p.m., according to Irving police records. He also had four traffic warrants outstanding in Roanoke – one for speeding, one for expired vehicle registration and two for failure to appear in court. Glenn posted bond the next morning and was released.
God damn TG you were one of goods one wtf man, I still miss seeing him play guy ran some of best routes crisp with clean breaks and had the hands and speed to go along with it. I'll never forget the flea flicker TD you caught against KC that was a thing of beauty.

Yea, but gotta give Pigeon credit, despite the loss his team can boast a lot more than anyone aside from the Steelers until next season.

Except for the Redskins....your 2009 NFL OFFSEASON CHAMPIONS BITCHES!!!! YEEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWW!!!!!!

Man the more I think about next season the more depressed I become about this past season.

Even with all that turmoil and drama in Big D the Cowboys were still right in the thick of things and needed a win in the last game to get in. Even if they do not improve one bit, they still have a great chance of being 2nd place in the NFC East.

Then you have the Giants who we all know will rebound. If Plax does not get jailed, which I do not think he will, he comes back and hes a nightmare to defend for the Eagles. If Plax is not back the Giants will definitely upgrade the WR position since Amare is gone too and they will not start the season with Hixon and Smith as the starters. That is something Reid would try to pass off but not smart coaches.

This playoff run could have been the Eagles best chance. They played the perfect wildcard team in the Vikings. They caught the Giants without Plax and Eli battling the wind. Even if the Eagles make it back to the playoffs they will most likely play the Giants again and this time probably at full strength.

They do have 40 million under the cap and two first round draft picks but I just know with Reid calling the shots this is going to be messed up somehow. They really need to evaluate this team as the 9 win team that also tied the Bengals that needed a miracle of biblical proportions to get into the playoffs. Unfortunately I know Reid will see this as another great season and just being a little away from winning it all. The offense, while in the top 10, is highly inconsistent. They have no running game and Westbrook is always hurt.

With how easy the AFC North's schedule is next year I think 3 teams might make it to the playoffs from that division. At the least I figure it'll be Steelers + Bengals (if their offense is healthy next season, and their defense plays as well as they did for the last 10 games of the year, they can win 10 games at least. and I expect their offense will be better since statistically they couldn't be worse.) but I'm not sure if the Ravens will have one of those years where the defense seems to take the entire year off, or if it'll be the Browns left out in the cold because, well, they're just as cursed as the Bengals.

But I mean the AFC North draws the AFC West and NFC North next year. I think it'll be tough for any AFC North team to lose 4+ games outside of their division with that set of opponents, just because those divisions are just as bad at the bottom (maybe even worse) than the AFC North is.

Who knows what teams will be like next year. Everyone this year thought the NFC South would be a breeze and it wound up being the most competitive division.

Besides, the Packers opponents do not have the luxury of facing Bob Sanders et al. anymore.

Ben and Cowher did not have the same kind of unity.
:lol The other guys in that picture are like "what the fuck? Are you seeing what I'm seeing?"

Evidently, TJ wants to leave Cincinnati:

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090205/SPT02/902050379

From T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s perspective, it sounds like his days in Cincinnati might be drawing near a close. “I really don’t know. I can’t speak for them but I haven’t heard from them which would lead me to assume that I’m out of there,” Houshmandzadeh said.

If Houshmandzadeh is not tagged and does go into free agency, there are plenty of teams that will vie for his services. This week, he made appearances on talk shows in Philadelphia and Chicago.

“You can’t talk to teams until the 27th, but I have some idea who might be interested. You have to take a look at a team and its situation and get a feel for things,” Houshmandzadeh said.

Obviously I would like to see TJ play for Pittsburgh, but it looks like he's campaigning for Chicago or Philly.

Yeah I posted the interview he had with Philly ESPN on the last page. I was surprised to learn a few things about him:

He watches NFL LIVE and knows things about the Eagles, Reid, and McNabb that only fans who follow the team would know.

He is half Iranian.

TJ is pretty knowledgeable with all things NFL, He's on Cincinnati radio from time to time, and he talks like a student of the game, not just a participant.

I don't think we'd have the cash to mess around with the line and get TJ

I don't know. Maybe he'd work his salary demands around, maybe deferred payment, to play in Pittsburgh. The Steelers have the best shot next year to return to the Super Bowl, even more so if you compare them to Chicago and Philly. Who wouldn't take a salary cut for a legitimate shot at a ring?

Actually to be honest the Redskins might just finish 2nd or 3rd. You guys did sweep us and while the Eagles sit back and think they are good enough, the Redskins might upgrade.

Oh, my bad. It's part of my daily vocabulary in a non offensive way to the actual people so it slips.

He's going to get tagged or get a contract worked out. They're just slow on it because they're trying to deal Chad so they can actually get a deal with TJ that keeps them under the cap but pays him fairly.

I mostly mean the Chiefs and Raiders will still be rebuilding, and the Lions/Bears/Vikings never seem to be consistent (Packers have had down times, too, but they've been more consistent in the past decade in that division) so that's a pretty good shot of winning those games for any AFC North team. The only teams that I think could be really tough out of the AFC West are the Chargers and Broncos, and with the Packers it just depends upon how the new defensive staff works out.

If there's any team from another AFC division I expect to bounce back next year, it's the Jags. they were too injured last year to be considered a real full-strength team. With the Titans, who knows if Kerry Collins will actually be good again next year? I mean he's not a bad career QB but he's not a world-beater, so he might have some sucky games next year which will make them an even more one-dimensional team. I have no idea how the Colts will do, either, and that's a big question mark for me. They still have most of their good players, but who knows if their new coach will be good or not. and who knows if they can ever get any kind of running game going. It'll be a lot like the Titans, but with a worse defense.

Gay is not a bad word here. The words you want to avoid on this board and in the company of decent red blooded Americans are the following:

Brady
Bellichick
Patriots
Rodney Harrison

Everything else is fine.

Haley new Chiefs HC.

Also:

In a news release announcing the team’s 50th anniversary logo, the Chargers revealed that, during the 2009 regular season, the original AFL franchises will each conduct multiple “Legacy Weekends.” On these occasions — once at home and once on the road for each original AFL franchise — the teams will wear a throwback uniform. The Chargers will wear a uniform based on their 1963 AFL championship team. Meanwhile, the 50th anniversary logo will be affixed each week to the Chargers’ uniforms. Here it is.

Pretty cool idea; hopefully the NFC gets something like this eventually.

You're not supposed to use it in a negative context, but nothing will happen to you here. No mods will check this thread regularly. A couple of posters have used "fag" (whatever happened to that slizz character, anyway? I knew he'd disappear as soon as Miami was bumped) and "cunt" in reference to another poster. That stuff gets you banned in the moderated threads.

Raiders will never be in full-on rebuild mode as long as Al is calling the shots. He'd rather overpay aged, under-skilled, and apathetic players than do that.

I personally don't use but I've seen the word used as an adjective quite a bit, some mods included. An unfortunate social norm :(
