What's the Braves' WC lead? Is there any chance that could turn into an actual fight?

Braves lead the Cardinals by 8.5 and the Giants by 9.5 with 23 games left to play.

The Braves do have a three-game series against the Cardinals from September 9-11 in St. Louis. If the Cardinals sweep the Braves, they could make some noise. But they just lost two out of three to the Reds, so who knows.

Indians are in a definite must-sweep situation with the Tigers coming in tomorrow.

But, as per usual, more injuries plagued the team. Hannahan (whose had a 1.000 OPS in the past month!) went out today with a calf injury and Santana is playing hurt.

Even if the Indians pull off some miracle sweep, they have to go on the road to Chicago and Texas. While the Tigers play some shit teams.

Considering the injuries they have had, it's amazing they are still above .500. They really should have went into an epic Mariners-like tailspin. But, they have kept it together, even while fielding a AAA team.

You have to give tigers some credit. When you guys came to town with only 1 1/2 game behind, the tigers swept them. Now Sox came with the same dream and they will sweep them. Plus you will face verlander.

I do like the indians, tough team to hate.

Seriously though why bring Scherzer back out to pitch the 7th?

Seems incredibly stupid considering the score. Totally unnecessary.

Scherzer needs all the confidence he can get going into his first postseason.

Why use the bullpen when you don't have to? We have a day game tomorrow; all the fresh legs you can get, please.

They're carrying 15 pitchers, it's September baseball. That's not even an issue. Unlimited roster literally means you shouldn't give a crap about using generic middle relievers.

Scherzer is a ticking time bomb. Has already had arm and shoulder issues in his career and has one of the most violent deliveries in the game. Not a guy I want to be throwing 200 innings a year.

I did laugh at getting confidence by beating up the pathetic White Sox though. Whatever works for him I guess.

Jesus Guzman at least deserves an honorable mention for Rookie of the Year. The man has been solid throughout the season with a bad team.

Yeah but he couldn't pitch in the AL! If you don't have a 95 MPH fastball you're garbage in the AL!
probably true, at least in his case. he's not cliff lee. he's more like...bruce chen

Ian Kennedy 4.6 WAR
1 Good hitter in the NL West Combined out of the other 4 teams.
He is pitching really good, rather have him the Hughes right now, but his numbers are bloated in that division.

Guess that means Clayton Kershaw isn't really that good, either, especially since his team has the best NL West hitter.

5 of the top 10 pitchers in the AL in terms of FIP this year have a FB that averages 90 MPH or less, in Shields, McCarthy (when the hell did that happen?) Haren, Weaver and Fister.

Ian Kennedy has good stuff and he can pitch in the AL. Maybe not in that little league park they call Yankee Stadium but he'd definitely pitch well anywhere. The AL vs NL disparity is dramatically overblown.

The Cliff Lee comparison was pretty striking. Ian Kennedy's fastball is ridiculously underrated just like Cliff Lee's. Top 3 in wFB this year are Verlander, Kennedy, Lee. It might not be very fast but it's been really effective.

I will take those two guys in a heartbeat over 5 of the 6 yankees starters.
When the 1st place team trades for Araon Hill for an offense upgrade, your division is weak on offense.

This isn't sustainable. You shall see!

Kelly Johnson is a better hitter than Aaron Hill, so they actually downgraded their offense.

I dont get the comparison. Polanco has been hurt and is having an off year because of it. Before he got hurt he was having a really good year.

Your team is like 100-14 on the season. Why do you have to rub it in the face of Mets fans some more?

Mets Starting Rotation:

Jonathan Niese - 2.7
RA Dickey - 1.9
Chris Capuano - 1.6
Mike Pelfrey - .6
Dillon Gee - 0.0
Johan Santana - 0.0
Olliver Perez - 0.0

Total: 6.8 war

Roy Halladay: 7.4 war
