Chicago Bulls guard Ben Gordon is the latest NBA player to be selected to the fledgling British basketball team that's trying to qualify for the 2012 Olympics.
The 2012 Summer Games will be held in London.
Gordon, who turns 25 on April 4, moved to the United States shortly after he was born in London.
The former Connecticut star was drafted by the Bulls in the first round in 2004. He was one of two Bulls players to appear in all 82 games last season, averaging 21.4 points.
British Basketball named Gordon and Bulls teammate Luol Deng to its 33-man squad Tuesday to play in Eurobasket qualifiers.
"He has been very positive about playing and we are going to meet with him again in Chicago within the next two weeks," British Basketball performance manager Ron Wuotila said of Gordon.

Chase Budinger 6-7 SG/SF Arizona / Sophomore
Athletic wing with excellent size and leaping ability. A very good perimeter shooter, both spotting up and coming off screens, thanks to his picture perfect mechanics. Intelligent player who knows how to move off the ball, find the open man with heady passes, and is very unselfish. A former world-class volleyball player who is still only scratching the potential on his basketball potential. A poor ball-handler--lacks the ability to create his own shot effectively, and has almost no mid-range game. Doesnt utilize his athleticism effectively enough, and hasnt shown go-to scoring mentality at this point. Lateral quickness is questionable.
Comparison: Brent Barry Stats: 17.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.9 apg

Seems like exactly the kind of player the Mavs need at the 2-guard spot.

Well, he can hit the college three at least... however, he's an excellent defender and ball-handler/floor leader.reilo said:Is he a scoring PG or a shooting PG? Blazers got too many shooting PGs :lol
Although if Portland keeps Blake and trades Jack, I suppose Blake being the backup PG and this kid being the scoring PG to relieve pressure off of Roy would be good.
Portland needs someone who's consistent though.

He shoots... but efficiently. Definitely not like Farmar (the guy he stepped in for).reilo said:Is he a scoring PG or a shooting PG? Blazers got too many shooting PGs :lol

So Jordan can murder their souls as well?Absinthe said:It would be stupid for the Bobcats to draft Eric Gordon when they have Richardson. They have to draft Love or that center from Texas A&M.
Branduil said:So Jordan can murder their souls as well?
No, he's being held down by the fact that he's still a bad offensive player. He'll work well in any system that requires him to basically be Marcus Camby 2.aznpxdd said:I hope Bobcats let Okafor go, he's been held down by that shitty organization for long enough. He would be a nice addition to any team.

He still won't fall that far. He'll be gone in the top 10.Jamesfrom818 said:Don't they have the Hawks 1st rounder?
Athletic white guy, apparently.woodchuck said:chase budinger?
no thanks. the last thing i want is another unathletic white guy.
And I want an all-star team of Kidd, Kobe, Lebron, Dirk, and Duncan. You can't always get what you want, woodchuck said:but he has poor handles, can't create his own shot, and has no midrange game
i want someone at the SG who can actually get to the basket or maybe even back his man down.
