Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

Wow! I had no idea these Bit Generations remakes were coming. I'll be buying this for sure and crossing my fingers that DotStream and Digidrive are the other two remakes on their way. I would LOVE for one of them to be DotStream. I played that game non-stop for weeks when I first picked it up and it remains one of my favorite GBA games to this day.

wow... another great week! And a 2WW+1VC week on top of it (aka ironic that we get fewer releases but still get a great week).

I am guessing NOA is either a) finally listening to us about how shit things were this year or b) has been stockpiling releases for this fall to have consistently good stuff hitting now.

Unfortunately PSN (and to a lesser degree XBLA) are no longer the shitfests they were for the last two years. So NOA HAS TO keep the quality up to compete with them.

fixed.

I think this versin of Bomberman connects with the disc version out/coming out soon. Should be interesting to see the community behind this release. Crud...$16 to WiiWare this week.

I vaguely remember a few people thinking that perhaps the 'Digitylish / Digiluxe' series was dropped for the Western market only because GBA software was slowing down considerably at the time and that the WiiWare service would be a perfect way to bring the ideas to the marketplace...

Glad to see it's actually happening!

Now, how about enhanced versions of Mother 3, the original Rhythm Tengoku and F-Zero Climax (complete with track editor)?

The "bit generation" game sounds intriging and Bomberman is sooo mine. Do you think online play in Bomberman is region free? I want to play against my european friends ><!

So how is the online functionality for Bomberman? Automatic matchmaking for 8-player games? Ratings, Rankings, Ladders? Lag?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, barely/rarely

Yes

Very interested in Bomberman. Veeeeeery.

REDWOOD CITY, CA - September 29, 2008 - Hudson Entertainment, the North American publishing arm for HUDSON SOFT, today announced the official launch of Bomberman Blast, an all-new Bomberman available for digital download on WiiWare for the Wii. Retaining many of the classic features that fans of the award-winning series have come to love, such as online multiplayer battles and numerous arenas, Bomberman Blast also incorporates exciting new gameplay elements like Mii support and 8-person online play.

“We are thrilled to deliver Bomberman Blast to the WiiWare gamers,” said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson Entertainment. “Hardcore fans and casual gamers alike will enjoy this new rendition of classic Bomberman created specifically for play on the Wii with three new Wii-specific items and Miis.”

Bomberman Blast features 3 new shake-it-up items specifically created for play on the Wii. Each of these new items can be used by shaking the Wii Remote to add an entirely new aspect of play to multiplayer Bomberman battles. Players can use the Bomb Change to disguise themselves as a bomb, the Rocket to jump up high in the air to avoid bomb blasts and the Shield to block bomb blasts as long as they keep shaking the Wii Remote.

There are 10 unique level designs included in the game. Once all 10 levels have been played, gamers are able to unlock the ability to blow away the competition by using a Mii as their Bomberman. Various arenas are included, ranging from the Classic level to levels with unique and exciting twists including Hyper Feet, Bomb Bowling, and Potholes.

Players will be able to compete either solo or as part of a team against the best Bomberman players worldwide, as Bomberman Blast delivers 8-player multiplayer battles online. Players can bomb it up on one console or can compete against their friends, family, and even players from all over the world with deeply customizable Wi-Fi Battles over the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection. Players can also submit their scores and track them using the new Rankings feature.

With the release of Bomberman Blast on WiiWare, Hudson Entertainment will offer several online tournaments, including one that coincides with the game’s launch. The first tournament will be a live, online, head-to-head competition between 49 randomly-selected entrants, hosted by Hudson Entertainment. Registration for the tournament and an associated sweepstakes begins immediately and runs until 5:00 p.m. PST on October 3, 2008. The competition itself will take place starting at 2:00 p.m. PST on October 6, 2008. For more information on the upcoming tournaments and to register, players can visit www.Hudsonentertainment.com.

On Bomberman? 4 Online, 8 Offline

I was afraid that I wasn't clear enough, so let me rephrase: can 2 people play on the same console against 2 other random people over WiFi?

Yes. Upto four people on one console can play on Wifi with other random people or online friends.

Locally you can play with 8 people -4 wiimotes, 4 gc controls- for the record.

Wow! That sure came out of nowhere! I was just about to start buying the bit generation games tomorrow as well!

Another great week on the trot! Way to go NOA :D (I'll forgive for making me wait for Secret of Mana for now...)

For easy Bomber Man match making use our WFC Irc:

Go to http://mibbit.com/. Scroll down to GlobalGamers (its listed alphabetically). type "Gaf_WFC" into the channels listing and choose a nick.

or you can also try:

We made an irc channel for us gaffers playing nintendo wi-fi stuff.

server: irc.globalgamers.net
channel #gaf_wfc

One web based method of getting on:

http://www.globalgamers.net/?p=webchat
use gaf_wfc as the channel name.

Chatzilla seems to work as well in which to get to us you would type "/server irc.globalgamers.net" and then "/join #gaf_wfc".

And this is another link to a web based version:

http://irc.netsplit.de/webchat/?net=...oom=#GAF_WFC
just type in your nick.
.

Geez, I just bought Vectorman and Mega Man 9, and now we get Bomberman and Orbient? Way to dump all the good stuff at once.

I just had a thought, maybe Nintendo are going to also continue the Bit Generations series after they've finished remaking the GBA ones, that would be brilliant! :D

Wow, the timing on this is crazy--I just picked up Digidrive and started playing it again last week. I can't say I really like the title "Art Style", but I see what they're going for.

Also, thank you leroy hacker for pointing out the Q-games connection--I'm a huge fan of Digidrive and of PJM (and to a slightly lesser extent, Eden), and I had no idea there was a link there.

You know I'd be all over these games, but I only have 22 free blocks and I already have a ton of games on an SD card.

Nintendo, fucking give me a hard drive already. You better announce one on Thursday.

List every game you got on your system right now, I am sure we can find one that you can live without for a week.

Crap, only 500 points left. Can someone gift me Orbital, and I'll gift you an NES game in return?
Any takers? I don't like having excess Wii points sitting around in my account.

It'd be nice if they let us buy points in smaller increments.

Maybe you can use the Nintendo Star Catalog (Nintendo Club in the USA, I guess) :)

I was hit by a thunderbolt a couple days ago . . . I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that NoA is saving Secret of Mana for the Christmas week VC release week. Heck, the game even features
Santa Claus
in a memorable cameo appearance, so it would be perfect, except for those crossing their fingers for an earlier release I suppose. :lol

Burning a hole in your digital pocket, eh?

I always carry a balance on Wii and XBL. But that's probably because I buy cards in bulk whenever there is a sale or deal on them. I've got over 2000 pts/spacebucks on both right now.

I think it'd be awesome if it was all the Mother games on Christmas. "Merry Christmas you fucking fanboys; love, Nintendo".

Is the Wii version of Orbital enhanced? That one shot looks like it has a better background than the gba game. Surely they just didn't port over the original?

Yep, graphic and music are "different" :)

Buy 2000 points...you will need them for the other two Bit Generation games coming this month.

Goddam, Bomberman is one of my favorite party games.
Observation: party games are drastically less fun when you can't communicate with anyone you're playing with.

I downloaded Orbital on my lunch break and played a few levels, pretty cool. I could have sworn my Wii Shop balance was at zero, but it was exactly at 600. It was a festivus miracle!

They added some levels, they redid the graphics, and they added graphical effects that make the controls much easier to understand.

Internets Bomberman, holy shit! Which Bomberman is it like? Are there any youtube videos or anything?

Goddam, Bomberman is one of my favorite party games. I already have the Turbografx one from the VC, but up to 8 people? Shit awesome.

Is it a friends code-type setup to play online?
If you want to play against friends, then yes you need their codes. Otherwise, you can choose Continental or World to play against strangers.

If the game you're joining is already in progress, you get to play Dodge Bomb while you wait :D
