Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

Seems my scanner loop stopped at the last code in the set, I'll need to fix that.

Phantasy Star III - MCC
Famicom Detective Club Part 2 - JCI

For the imports you might not be using the right region code:
Final Soldier (EU) - PAOL
Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou - QADL
Columns 3 - MBWD
Thanks.

I thought they had three import region codes (US games for EU, JP games for EU and JP games for US) but I guess they're mixing them up now.

ESRB update

Space Invaders TAITO Corporation Everyone No Descriptors Wii

I haven't heard anything about a Wii version, so it's probably the SNES version for the VC, although there's also a Japan-only Famicom version that could be possible as well.

Well, there is Space Invaders Get Even in development for the Wii by Taito, so it could be that (although the lack of subtitle is a strike against it).

It might the new "Get Even" Pikminesque Wii game actually.

Nope, it was a cancelled-at-the-last-minute 64 game, only to be revived for the GC. Some really bad prerendered stuff too.

So was the Yoshi's Cookie part of the collection an old product too, or was that actually new?

Nintendo Puzzle Collection

Dr Mario: GCN game = JPN localisation of Dr Mario 64, emulated

GBA game = Emulated NES original

PDP: GCN game = Un-released PDP 64 with new additional 4 player mode added to the original code. Ported and running natively on GCN.

GBA game = Originally coded from ground up by Intelligent Systems. Formed the basis for Puzzle League GBA (The downloadable demo that comes from Puzzle League GBA itself is a hack of the Nintendo Puzzle Collection download and is also the only English version that references the actual PDP characters. Puppuri talks about how he is a friend of Furil's!)

Yoshi's Cookie: GCN game = Original version coded from the ground up, running natively on GCN (Probably by Tose)

GBA game = Emulated NES original

That should clear things up :D

Awesome EU VC update:

-Metal Slug (Neo Geo)
-Cho Aniki (TGCD, 900 Wii Points)
-Break In (TG, 700 Wii Points)
-Puyo Puyo 2 (MD, 900 Wii Points)

Looks like a good week in PAL land. Hopefully, that means good things for us. And after spending weeks playing P3 FES, I'm too joyful to be my usual pessemistic self.

:lol what

If nothing else, I'm curious as to how Nintendo's PR will describe the game.
The blurb on the shop is beautifully coy. If no-one gets in sooner, I'll transcribe it at some point during the weekend.

I'll be gifting *this* to a few people, certainly. I'm evil like that :-)

I've been playing my favorite Square-side game since 1995, but I'm still pessimistic about Virtual Console. :D I've already come to accept that we'll most likely get no new releases on May 12th and that it'll be a day for WiiWare to shine. (Not that WiiWare isn't great, of course.)

Good to see you give the game such positive praise. I've got a trip coming up soon and I picked it up for that occasion. So, I'm looking forward to it.

You better have headphones or earphones if you're getting on a plane or something. Don't miss out on the music, man. Just don't do it! :o

Cho Aniki and Ai Cho Aniki are actually good games. Think of them like Parodius, really crazy but surprisingly good.

Also, OFLC update:

-Ninja Commando (Neo Geo)
-King of the Monsters (Neo Geo)

And a PEGI update:

-Paradroid (C64)

As of this moment Wikipedia is meantioning that about 12 games will be at launch. At least that is what it shows. Hopfully we'll find out tonight.

I just got the latest "Recent Releases on Virtual Console" email, and it says this:
Hi Joshua, the content of your weekly Virtual Console News email is about to change in a good way. In addition to the weekly Virtual Console game information, stay tuned for information about WiiWare, an upcoming new addition to the Wii Shop Channel where you can download new games directly to your Wii console. The name of the email will also change to the "Wii Shop Channel News." Don't forget to check out this week's new Virtual Console titles!
Based on this, I'm guessing WiiWare PR will indeed be added into the same PR we've been getting for VC.

So you got the "Recent Releases on Virtual Console" email but they didn't tell you about the releases? Awesome.

Did they mention when they're going to tell you about the releases? I'm eager to see if we're getting any VC titles at all this coming week, and of course what WiiWare titles we'll get... better be Dr Mario.

Er.. this is the regular newsletter, not the PR, it listed Double Dragon, Pokémon Puzzle League, and Renegade. I thought it was pretty well known that the "Recent Releases" email is always a week or two behind.

Ah, I didn't know about the "recent releases" email. My bad.

As long as I get Dr Mario for WiiWare on monday.. I'll be happy.
The preview video for WiiWare on the Nintendo Channel shows Dr. Mario on the shop channel listed as "Released 05/12/2008" so I would assume we're getting it then.

I will absolutely need to grab TokiTori
Star Soldier R looks pretty hot too - I like the 2/5 minute caravan modes in the star soldier series, but it's not a top priority for me right now.

Come to think of it.. is there an "Ultimate Awesome WiiWare Discussion" thread yet?

That's good news then, I'll go check that out right now.

Maybe we should just make this into the Official Awesome WiiWare/VC Update Thread.
People have suggested keeping them separate since people interested in WiiWare don't necessarily care about how many/which VC games we aren't getting each week, and vice versa.

Hey, where's our Friday night VC release news? Did I miss something?
I think JSnake is still banned, and I don't think the PR has popped up elsewhere yet.
