Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

Playing SMRPG brings back great memories. :D

It's also a good way to practice my Japanese.

Up to the part where we
chase Croco
. I think the Japanese game is easier because
Mallow
is actually doing a lot of damage.

I forgot that that the 30th is a Monday. There's hope yet for SMRPG to be the typical "end of month" big release. Europe's update should be VC this week (and it's the end of their month) so I think that will definately be a good indicator.

Hey, sorry, I didn't realize anyone cared what I had to say.

I memorize EVERY word of what is said in this thread. ;-) If it's any consolation, I'm probably single-handedly holding up Earthbound, since I predicted back in January/February that it would released in North America by July 29th. Obviously, NoA intends to release it no earlier than August 5th thanks to me.

Maybe then they can refocus on VC. The scarier thought is that they met up with Vectorman and Crackdown in the Abyss but Hudson's never done that to us before.

I'm starting to wonder if the American branches of Hudson and Nintendo aren't having some sort of squabble at the moment - some issue or issues they are trying to sort out. The sudden halt in Turbo titles is just bizarre. From being the VC's biggest supporter to dropping off the face of the earth with no explanation - I'd love some inside info here.

Generally, I find the distribution of titles to be conterintuitive as well. I think all parties would be better served if we got a mix of system titles, but recently we've been getting a spate of NES & NeoGeo games. We haven't seen a Genesis title since April 21st, a Super Nintendo title since March 17th, and of course a Turbo title since February 25th. You would think that there could one game released per system per month for the most part. NoA has done a really terrible job of balancing VC releases recently.

Yeah, Japan just got four VC games (including SMRPG) and three WiiWare games, along with Mojipittan DLC. As if the US Wii Shop needed to look any worse.
At least we got Alex kidd. We could have had something sucky like Sonic 1 8-bit, or worse, like Sonic Blast!

Note 2: I calculated last weeks sales in my head, somebody might want to put that into excel and make sure I didn't mess anything up.

Zelda II has been outsold by Metroid, for one? Weak.

OH i remember that HUELEN10 kid from those horrible nintendo forums. Wasn't he in love with mona from wario ware or something?
Hey, Nsider didn't used to be horrible, in fact, it was one of the best gaming forums imho from 2004 to 2006. I had over 13K posts on there and don't regret putting so much time into a website for a second.

EU VC update, 5 games as expected, all of them good, but none particularly amazing or anything:

-Cybernoid (C64)
-Summer Games 2 (C64)
-Super Fantasy Zone (MD)
-King of the Monsters (NG)
-Pac-Attack (SNES)

I think we all know the answer to the mystery of the "Case of Missing Mega Man" by now.

I'd expect them to come out sometime after Mega Man 9 is released.

If my data is right that means that Europe is finally even with the US in number of VC games again.

I can definately see some VC hype leading up to Mega Man 9, it'd be a gigantic wasted opportunity not to. If so then that could explain a little.

Yep, they're both at 232 now. Of course, they both pale in comparison to Japan's 333...

For WiiWare, Japan has 18, the US has 16, and Europe has 9.

Somnid said:

My data must be screwy because I come up with Europe ahead by two.

Released in North America, but not Europe: Legend of Kage, Elevator Action, Tecmo Bowl, Milon's Secret Castle, Lode Runner, NES Play Action Football, Star Soldier, Ninja Gaiden II, ZANAC, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Ninja Gaiden III, Spelunker, King's Knight, Bases Loaded, Renegade, Sky Kid, City Connection, RotTK4, Metal Marines, Pac-Attack, Axelay, Do Ri Me Fantasy, Ecco Jr, Powerball, Bravoman, Ordyne (26)

Released in Europe, but not North America: N. America Missing: Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Skate or Die, Mario's Super Picross, Vectorman, ESWAT, Crack Down, Gley Lancer, Gradius II, Final Soldier, Cho Aniki, Break In, Star Parodier, Digital Champ: Battle Boxing, Fatal Fury 2, Uridium, International Karate, California Games, Impossible Mission, The Last Ninja, World Games, Paradroid, Nebulus, Last Ninja 2 (24)

Add King of the Monsters, Super Fantasy Zone, Summer Games 2, and Cybernoid to the Europe only column for right now to move up to 28. Subtract Pac-Attack from North America only to go down to 25. Add Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels to North America only to go back up to twenty-six? (I'm not quite sure how to count this . . . half a game? :-P)

Even counting SMB2: The Lost Levels, I have Europe ahead by two games. So, what am I missing or what I have failed to delete? I thought I was taking pretty good care of my list. :-(

I can definately see some VC hype leading up to Mega Man 9, it'd be a gigantic wasted opportunity not to. If so then that could explain a little.

Eh . . . I thought for sure North America would at least get the original Mega Man on the Blue Bomber's 20th Anniversary. I wouldn't be surprised if there was no tie in. Nintendo took such synergy into account for most of last year, I haven't seen any examples of it this year though.

Update: Gwaaargh . . . I forgot Dig Dug and Bio Miracle Baby from my North America only list. Carry on. Europe is only down a half game for now thanks to Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels.

vc-pce is updated, the US finally gets TG games in July:

-Break In
-Chase H.Q.
-Star Parodier

None for EU/AU, and JP gets four which I'll include in the full JP schedule for July later.

Japanese schedule for July:

Famicom:
-Dig Dug
-Chack'n Pop
-Donkey Kong 3

Super Famicom:
-Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Master System:
-Space Harrier

Mega Drive:
-Splatterhouse 2
-Shining Force II

PC Engine:
-Spriggan
-Kiki Kai Kai
-Darius Plus
-Blood Gear

Neo Geo:
-Samurai Shodown II
-Neo Turf Masters

MSX:
-Relics
-Eggy

Awesome!

Star Parodier! Huzzah! I don't want to see the good news of Star Parodier being scheduled for released lost among the news of Japan's stellar VC schedule. I've really enjoyed every game in the Star Soldier series that I've played (plus the kind-of sort-of part of the series, Blazing Lazers), so I'm confident that Star Parodier will be excellent as well. Especially since I also like Konami's Parodius games. :D

Also, nice to see some signs of life from Shining Force II.

I should be able to jump right into SFII should it come out right? Any good reason to playing the first before the second aside from the expected I would feel worse after playing II?

It's not nearly as crazy as Parodius but very colourful and enjoyable, good soundtrack as well. It also has a pretty awesome 3+ minute intro which is fully voiced over in Japanese.

But oh god difficulty spike on the final stage :(

They should do the whole series (MM1-7/& Bass) one each week for the eight weeks proceeding MM9. They can skip Rockboard & Soccer tho. :D

Then give X1-3 and Legends 64 later on. <3 <3

Not a bad idea, plus it would show no preference towards certain titles, treating them equally in essence. Not sure which strategy would result in better sales though. Who knows if Nintendo would allow this type of scheduling. Why Aksys was able to do their titles 3 weeks in a row is a bit of an anomaly.

I started with SF2 and it didn't effect me at all. There are some references here and there to the first game, but it's not required. And most of those references are things you can pick up on anyway.

We probably won't know till monday.

I will sob tears- watery, happy tears- if we get SF2.

Well, if it came down to Final Soldier or Star Parodier, the latter was definitely my preferred choice. :D Obviously I'll still buy Final Soldier if when if when that comes out, but we already have two serious play-it-straight Star Soldier games.

And yay for Shining Force II. :O Even if it's only in Japan now, at least hope can continue.

Yeah, i'm optimistic about SF2 (not tommorrow, i don't think we'll get it before japan). SF1 and the PS games came here shortly after they hit japan's VC. I think it may finally happen after all this waiting.

Happy Birthday, America!

Super Mario RPG:Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES)
Phantasy Star IV(GEN)

On my Japanese Wii though who knows for sure?

VC Monday hits closer to Canada Day (July 1) than the fourth of July, so if we get anything good this week, it's to celebrate Canada Day.

Given my user-name, this would be a fantastic week for Earthbound.

Last I checked, Canada is in America. :lol

Tomorrow is going to be the most amazing day ever for the VC, because sometime during the last week my Wii mysteriously bricked and will not turn on whatsoever. Enjoy all the wondrous things coming tomorrow, everyone! I sure wont :(

Hmm... I'll go ahead and let hope hold out once more, due to JohnTinker's predicament. Knowing that it can't be anything on TG16 since Hudson didn't put anything up on their website for June 30th, I call Shining Force II + Gley Lancer + Super Fantasy Zone. Genesis Week a-go-go.
